Varius ducked and threw his hands above his head at Professor ScaryMan's EVILLLL, sharp tone towards... Pernipants? As Varius' shield disappeared due to his fright and acorns came crashing down on him again, he couldn't help but forget their existence as he watched Pernipants do the walk of shame. Of all people, Varius would NEVER have thought it would have been Pernipants standing at the front of the classroom ready to get, what looked to be, a scolding.

Melanie looked up from the acorns she had been smashing on the floor in alarm as she heard the Professor yelling at some kid and her sheild broke. Acorns came flying down at her. "BBBBBBWWWWAAAAHHH!!!" She shouted as she fell to the ground which was covered in acorns. She slowly picked herself up, dusted her robe off and started hitting at the evil acorns with her wand like she was playing baseball. Although she got a few good hits in it wasn't exactly working to well as she couldn't hit them as fast as they were falling. Melanie decided to try and cast the spell again. "Protego! Protego! Protego!" she said, but unfortunately only one shield exited here wand covering her from the evil acorns of doom. Melanie cowered under her wand dreading for when her shield would disappear again.

Melanie was beginning to feel quite sorry for whomever Copernicus or whomever he was... He seemed to be getting a lot of public humiliation lately...

"B...b...b...but it has always been like that," he whimpered, his bottom lip wobbling. He didn't want it to be brown again. He liked it in purple and green. It made his special. It wasn't like the piece of wood ever did anything. It at least looked pretty in its not doing anything.

He slumped off back out of the classroom, his purple and green wand in his hand. He now had to find where the bathroom was.

Kazimeriz watched the boy slink off in tears. He knew the students thought he was being unkind, but he didn't care. It really was for the boy's own good. He recalled a student who once had cast using a duplication charm with a wand that he had wiped a bogie on; instead of duplicating the poster the student was trying to copy, it misdirected the spell and started duplicating thousands of bogies instead... filling the room and nearly drowning the idiot boy in his own slime. He was saving young Newtington from such a death, really. A dirty wand equaled death.

Oh. OH CRAP. Copernicus dropped his wand and was hit by a wave of acorns, although he didn't seem to notice. "Sorry. I'm sorry, Cel..." He sort of choked out an apologetic whisper as he moved past her up the row to stand next to the professor. Once there, he lifted his chin and looked prepared for whatever public flagellation was about to occur. He deserved it for hitting Cela with the acorns.

"I just saw you use your shield charm to aim acorns at young Miss Toussaint. Do you deny it?" he asked the boy sternly, his eyebrow raised.

Ana froze. Some Kettleburn was probably in trouble. That name was not completely strange to her.
"Protego!" she continue training. Every time she tried the spell, it sustained more and more time. Ana kept with spell she was a little afraid and curious on the same time of what could be the move on to something more motivational than acorns.

"I just saw you use your shield charm to aim acorns at young Miss Toussaint. Do you deny it?" he asked the boy sternly, his eyebrow raised.

Copernicus continued to focus on a point on the far wall, his posture precise. "No, sir, I do not deny it. I wanted to see if the shield charm could be used offensively as well as defensively and I trusted Miss Toussaint's shield charm to hold."

Mrs. Weasley 02-15-2009 10:01 PM

Abby gets tired of having acorns falling on her head. She points her wand overhead, starts making an arc, and says "Protego!" A new shield charm forms over her head. Abby tries harder to keep her mind firmly on keeping her shield up.

Torchwood 02-15-2009 10:02 PM

Qaz quietly made her way back to her seat, overjoyed at the lack of acorns in the air...and that she wasn't the one in the hot seat.

TeafortheSoul 02-15-2009 10:05 PM

Cela's eyes flicked between her favourite professor and her... and Copernicus, waiting to see what was going to happen.

Disneymaniac 02-15-2009 10:06 PM

Theo returned to the classroom, tears streaming down his face. His robes were soaking wet and his hands were painfully red. But his wand was clean. He noticed that Kazi was telling off the older Ravenclaw boy, but Theo had been there first. He was the one that needed the attention. Not the big boy.

"I did it Professor," he sniffled, wiping his eyes with his wet sleeve. He then proceeded to blow his nose on his shoulder.

Golden Monkey 02-15-2009 10:08 PM

Jabbing his wand in the only open space he could see he said "Protego!" a flimsy shield came out of his wand and he concentrated. Yes he felt much safer in here. He wondered briefly if Meanie Pants was going to start using something more... interesting to get them to do the spell correctly. He peeked out of his hiding place and watched the kid called Kettleburn and Meanie Pants to see what was going to happen.

He watched as the other boy, the one who had been told to clean his wand came back crying. William suddenly felt for the kid, if he had been told to clean his wand he'd be crying too.

Kazimeriz's lips widened, revealing his white teeth and liver-coloured, elderly gums... making him look more than a little skeletal. But he couldn't help grinning at the boy. "I see."

He paused, surveying the boy. "Ten points from your house for using a spell against another student in my class without my consent or approval. However... To your house... I award fifteen. For creative application of the assigned charm and illustrating an excellent point for your classmates: even a defensive maneuver can have an offensive application. Conversely, offensive manuevers may be used defensively as well. Be seated, Kettleburn. And no other student is to cast against a classmate without my express permission to do so."

Newtington re-entered the class. "Excellent. Much better. Now wipe your face and be seated. And pay attention." He nodded to the boy, then turned to the board and wrote:

HEXES

"Who can name one commonly used hex and explain its effect?" he looked around the room, waiting for answers.

He nodded and wiped his nose on his sleeve again. Who carried a tissue these days? He sat down and his little legs swung as he attempted to pay attention.

Theo raised his little hand, "The Bat Bogey Hex Sir. It makes bogies attack you. I think they come out your nose and eat you. Instead of you eating them."

Camira's attention turned to Theo as he walked into the room. The poor boy was a mess. She wanted to go and hug him. She cringed slightly as he blew his nose on himself. Professor Kazimeriz was sure to say something about that.

She realised then that her shield had dropped. And no acorns. When had that happened? She really needed to pay more attention.

Melanie eagerly raised her hand. "Would Jelly-Legs count?" she asked, taking a stab at it.

Hedwig18 02-15-2009 10:14 PM

Ana raised her hand "The Bedazzling Hex causes the target object to bedazzle any observer" she said

Cassirin 02-15-2009 10:14 PM

"Thank you, sir. And... I won't do it again, sir," Copernicus retreated to his seat and did his best to look stoic in spite of the blush creeping up his collar. Merlin, had he really done that? He'd cast against Cela??!? He hadn't thought about it that way at all.

He raised his hand and pretended the last five minutes never happened. "A Stinging Hex, sir? It causes a mild stinging sensation, although I doubt any sting could really be classified as mild."

Angie 02-15-2009 10:14 PM

After pondering her reply for a bit, gnawing on her bottom lip, Willow raised her hand, "Densaugeo. It causes the vicim's teeth to enlarge horribly and very quickly." She shuddered.

Cela breathed a sigh of relief and offered Copernicus a tiny smile before raising her hand to answer, "The knee-reversing hex, which can be modified to work on other joints too." Cela knew that one; it was one of her brothers favourites, "It reverses the joint, making movement hard. Combined with other spells it can be very effective."

hermygirl 02-15-2009 10:15 PM

Nia admittedly had got a bit distracted from her shield charm as she watched her brother. She wasn't sure what she felt about it either. In one sense it totally served him right, and she would be smirking were it not for her fear of the Professor. At the current momnet though, he looked so defenceless, and she almost wanted to go and hug him. Almost. She wouldn't though. No way.

At the professor's question, Nia smiled and raised her hand. "Densaugeo is a hex. It causes one's teeth to grown enormously, quite useful defensively if your opponent can't yet use non verbal spells."

Golden Monkey 02-15-2009 10:17 PM

William raised his hand, "I believe there's one called Garroting Gas Hex or something like that. It's more of a Curse, but is in the Hex catagory. It's not completely understood, but it presumably either renders a victim unconscious or causes a victim to experience extreme, "ripping" abdominal pain." He replied shakily, his voice coming out nervously.

highjinx 02-15-2009 10:17 PM

Cam raised his hand. "The Twitchy Ears Hex which makes the victim's ear twitch?"

Mrs. Weasley 02-15-2009 10:18 PM

Abby raises her hand. "The Canary Transfiguration Hex cause the victim to turn into a giant carary. After a few minutes the victim molts back to normal."

Nabs 02-15-2009 10:19 PM

Oooh, Garret watched Perni get points taken off... and then receive points for being a Ravenclaw. He had a feeling he knew how this class was going... or, he snuck a glance at the wizened professor, how this professor operated.

But hexes, he knew, having been on the receiving end of his cousin's hexes for years after the Slytherin had graduated.

He raised a hand, "The Toe-nail growing hex, sir?" It was rather self explanatory but he went on in case the old man found fault, "It causes the victim's toenails to grow super fast."

Becky 02-15-2009 10:20 PM

Jack frowned as he stared at his desk, he knew no hexes, he was only an innocent firstie, Jack started to trace the wood patterns on the desk with his finger

Amira With a C 02-15-2009 10:22 PM

Camira raised her hand. "A hurling hex would be an example. A hex specific to brooms which causes the broom to buck." Oh, that would be fun to cast on someone.
