Lalala it's time for Charms! Weeeee! Aren't you excited? You should be. Ashby is.
Take a seat; the lesson should begin shortly. Oh, and do watch out for those seats that are coated in glue.
OOC: Go ahead and post. I decided to open the lesson a little early. Just please keep the chatter to a minimum. |

Qaz picked it up and held it against the wall...tracing a little quicker this time "Aaaddddhhaaaeeerrrooo." When she removed her hand, it was completely stuck again. "I'm happy to partner with you," he bowed to his fellow Ravenclaw and followed her to where she began sticking papers on the wall. Ah, handy spell this was. Once Qaz finished trying, Copernicus picked up a sheet of paper himself.
"Adhaero," he repeated quietly to himself, over and over. Once he thought he had it, he pointed to the paper and slowly traced the edge. "Aaaadhaaaaaeeeeroooooo!" When finished, he pushed the paper up against the wall and smiled to himself when it stuck. "Excellent!"

She had actually already flirting with Truebridge---quite dangerously, mind you---but that had been months and months ago. "Well,Igotkindofjealous," Anna said, rushing the words out so quickly it seemed as if she'd only said one word and not an entire sentence. "Anyway, just drop it for now. If I lose a single point, I'll literally suffer from heart failure. We'll talk after class."
Anna accepted the paper from Cale and held it against the wall with her left hand. With her right hand, she raised her wand and traced the edges of the paper. "Aaaaadddddhhaaaeeeeerrooooooooo," she said, feeling a bit foolish over the way she was sounding. She glanced at Cale out of the corner of her eye, winked, and then refocused on the paper. "Oh, I did it, too!" Anna happily exclaimed. "Do you think we should try it again?" Cale shrugged. "Sure, couldn't hurt to do it again," he said with a smile. He grabbed another piece of paper and held it up to the wall again. "Aaaaaaaaadddddddaaaaaaeeeeeeerrrrrooooo," he muttered, watching to see if the paper stuck again. Unfortunately, he pulled his wand away just a second too soon and the top right corner drooped off the wall. Booooooooo. "Darn," he muttered. "Ok, your turn," he said.

| Double Agent Stamps! Abby walks to the front of the class and grabs a piece of paper. She then finds a part of the wall that's not being used. Abby places the paper on the wall with her left hand. She says "adaero" and starts tracing the paper. Abby continues to say the incantation while tracing her piece of paper. When she has traced the paper one time with her wand, she removes her left hand from the paper. It stays in place. Not bad if I say so myself. |

Well he looked scary to him and was a bit glad that he wasn't going to go against the Hufflepuff for the first match. There were the Gryffindors still though. Bleh.
He turned his attention away from Dom and then looked at Professor Ashby while he explained the sticking charm to them. Where was it going to be useful, Cam didn't really know but he was expecting something like, suupah fun to do with this. "Adhighrooow? Adhighrowrow." Hehe, RowRow.
Taking the papers, he quietly tried to imagine that his wand was a pencil and carefully carved playful stick-figures. The spell needed a lot of deep breaths and Cam really couldn't say stuff so long. It was probably why he was a horrible singer and how he couldn't swim. This spell seemed simple, but hard at the same time. Did that make any sense? "Youuuu, puhleaseee!" He was making his words long now, to practice the spell. It was better to see an older student and possibly fail so he could learn from his mistakes. Hahaha. Rehearsing the spell in his mind over and over again, Dominic wondered what in the name of canaries could be on this kid's mind. After all, he did seem to be deep in thought of something, staring intently into space. While he was watching and waiting, the fifth year's golden eyes wandered over towards the other students practicing. In particular the Gryffindor Prefects, who were no doubt partnered and seemed to be in disagreement over something serious. Probably something stupid like how Bunbury had flirted with Cale or whatever. Not that it should have mattered.
"Oh, alright," the fifth year really should have expected to go first. He, of course, was the older student who should be able to handle a simple charm and matter of focusing. Right? Yes.
Stretching his arms outward as though to get ready for some type of serious encounter, he inhaled deeply. He could do this. He would not be made fool of himself in front of Cameron Karsten. "Adhaero," Dominic dragged out the incantation, tracing the edges of his paper with his wand as he held up against the wall. It felt kind of foolish, but he managed to do it the whole way. Ha! He could do charms when he wasn't around that Claw Captain! Yes, she just made him nervous. That was it. "I did it!" He looked enthusiastically over towards the first year, beaming. "Your turn now."

Ludo watched the Charms Professor perform the sticking spell. His eyebrows were raised as he realized the incantation must be held out over an extended period of time. "Very unique.." he thought as he made his way up to get a few sheets of paper. He took his first sheet and, standing close to a wall, pressed the paper against the surface. With his free wand hand, Ludo held it to the edge of the paper and began to outline it. "Aaaadhhhhaeeeeerrrrooo." he said quietly, but clearly. He noted that he couldn't hold out some vowels and consanants as long as others, he quickly jotted this down on his parchment by the window.
He removed his hand and his wand to find that the paper did not fall off the wall. Ludo inspected its edges and corners to find that it was indeed, quite stuck.

Kayla moved up behind him. "Okay now close your eyes for a moment and just concentrate on one spot on the paper. Think about the incantation and feel the magic before you say the words and then I want you to open your eyes and try doing the spell." She moved back a few steps to allow him room to move.

Cam stared at Dom strangely once he put out his arms and stretched them, which was followed by a deep breath. Did Professer Ashby transfer some of his zen personality right into his partner right now? Well then again most people did it so he obviously took the older Hufflepuff wrong. Well he wasn't like, he wasn't behaving this way when they met at the streets. Obviously not, not not not.
He decided to start with some sweet talk, well he really didn't know what to say since he didn't expect this guy to ask if he wanted to be partners with him. It was just way, waaaaaay unexpected. "Good luckkkk," he said and had a hard time to force those words out of his mouth.
Never in his lifetime, or short midget lifetime did he expect to say "good luck" to the Dominator. Or the Doominator if you added an extra "o" to his name. Well wasn't Cam the darndest funniest thing in the classroom?! Hahahahaha. He expected the invisible people in his mind to laugh but he heard nothing out of 'em. While thinking though, he was still staring at Dom and the spell he was about to do.
Expecting him not to do it on the first try, he already started his sentence before Dom finished. "It's OK since you---..." The first try was a success for the Prefect. Cam just couldn't believe his eyes, he wanted to see Dom fail and failed to do so. Now he was scared, what if he messed up and like, got embarrassed or something?
But that smirk happened to be on his face just about now and he wasn't going to give up. Quickly taking one of papers Dom gave him, he put it on the wall and covered it with his hand to block it from slowly drifting down the ground. Now it was the time for the spell. He didn't stretch out his arms though, just took a reaaaaalllly deep breath. Like a super deep breath. "Aaaaaaaaaaaadddddhaaaaa," he was doing fine but he stopped half way just to take a breath and then continued, "aaaerooooooooo."
Nothing. He put his hand away to check. Nothing, and the paper slowly went to the floor. NUUUUUU. It was probably because of that deep breath which interrupted his whole incantation that made him fail. Looking at Dom, his weak smile turned into a nervous one and he tried to grin at him but really couldn't. "I... I meant to do that!"

Jake raised one eyebrow and resisted the urge to go on about his 'world dominating snidgets' theory, which became easier as Kayla started to help him. Close your eyes, and feeeeeeeeeel the magic... Jake repeated to himself, wondering why that sounded like a cheesy advert for those muggle sweets... skittles or something.
Focusing on one part of the paper, Jake closed his eyes. He raked through his brain for the incantation. Adhaero... Yup, that was it... wasn't it? Hang on, how do I know this ain't a trick... they could be sticking me to this here was when I'm standing here, thinking. Ouch, my feet hurt... I need new shoes, I wonder where the nearest store is... maybe near another sweet shop? Cool... I could do with some sugar, maybe when I get back to Lon-Don... wait, where was I?
Jake's eyes snapped open and he jolted a little when he saw what he was doing. Hand holding paper to wall. Pointing wand at hand... odd. But, after a millisecond, Jake remembered what he was doing and pointed his wand at the paper. "Adhaerooooooo-ATISHOOO!" Jake started well, with the spell and the magic, but as he finished, there erupted a humungous sneeze. He stepped backwards, onto a discarded bottle of glue, and the sticky stuff squirted up, unbeknownst to Jake. They boy opened his eyes to see a wallful of some sticky liquid substance, unlike anything a boy could produce from his nose or mouth.
Letting go of the paper, Jake whipped round, not noticing the paper was stuck to the wall, unaided by the sticky stuff, which didn't quite reach it. "That was not me." At least my hands are okay...

She glanced at her watch...tick...tick...tick...Kayla looked at her watch again and wondered what on earth he was doing. Patience Winters, not everyone picks it up as easily...tick...tick...tick. She poked her head around to see what he was doing and suddenly his eyes snapped open and then he sneezed. She moved back but was not quite quick enough and she caught some of the spray from Jake's nose.
"That...is...disgusting" she muttered as she put her hand up to wipe it off but then thought better of it and used her wand instead, "Tergeo." Feeling better that she was now clean of first year bogies, Kayla looked at Jake, "Oh Peeves is here is he?" she asked wryly. "It's okay Jake, happens to the best of us."

| Help us we're a bunch of letters stuck in this box !! Tino had long ago mastered the art of tracing the square of paper, and was now cutting out various shapes to stick to his portion of the wall. Humming to himself, the Greek boy sat cross-legged on the floor, surrounded by piles of scraps. "Adhaero," he muttered quietly, tracing his wand around a submissive-looking brachiosaurus dinosaur. The dino relaxed under a large palm tree by a lagoon (well, the big white oval was supposed to be a lagoon). The picture was framed by puffy clouds and a sun with pointy rays. The scene was both peaceful and reflective. "That's right, Brach," Tino whispered soothingly. "It's the perfect day for a swim, or maybe a salad lunch. . . just close your eyes. . ."
His hands manuevered the scissors expertly in the unmistakable outline of a super-sized Tyrannosaurus. Not for long! Tino snickered, hunched over his own little universe.

It was probably because of that deep breath which interrupted his whole incantation that made him fail. Looking at Dom, his weak smile turned into a nervous one and he tried to grin at him but really couldn't. "I... I meant to do that!" Dominic had been so into his relaxing, so that he wouldn't accidentally purposefully punch Cameron, that he barely even noticed the first year had wished him luck before his sticking charm. He wasn't sure what he expected from him, but gauging his immediate reaction after his own enthused remark, Dominic guessed that Cam thought he would fail. "Since I what was that, Cameron?" Dom responded quickly, smug look on his expression. Oh how it must have been eating away at the first year that he got it on the first try. See! Either the fact that Ashby's enjoyment of his poem had put him a good mood since the first lesson, or he just really was getting the hang of charms. It couldn't honestly be that Willow Kovac made him nervous, right? Nah. He was immune to girls and their strange antics, wasn't he?
Waiting in anticipation for the Slytherin to try the sticking charm himself, Dom watched wide-eyed, whispering a weak "Good luck" as Cam had done to him not minutes prior.
And he did fail. Stating defensively that he meant to do that. Uh huh, sure you did... "Don't worry, just try again," Dominic told him encouragingly. Hold it! Since when was he a motivator for other houses?

Another student was bringing in tables from the corridor,Ashby was not looking very happy, and other's were looking for partners.
Nudging Mariel,Sarah dropped her voice again. "I think we should stay here, quietly, and await further instructions.Hufflepuff have already lost 20 points thanks to Jack freaking Mosier,I don't want to lose anymore." Quote:

He waited for everyone to finish partnering up and continued on. "For this part of the lesson, you will be learning a sticking charm, and then you will be unsticking whatever, or whoever it is that you stick."
A grin crossed his face. Not an evil grin. Just a grin. "So, first of all, the incantation for this spell is this: adhaero. That's ahd-high-row. Everyone got it? Say it a few times and then I will continue."
The chorus of incantations filled the room, and as soon as the stragglers were finished, he moved on. "In order to perform this spell, you must trace the outline of whatever it is you are sticking with your wand while saying the incantation. It is extremely inconvenient for pranks, though, because you must say the incantation only once, but continue saying it until you are finished tracing the object. Otherwise, the spell is relatively simple and you should all get it fairly quickly. First watch me."
He conjured up a piece of paper and held it against the wall with his hand. He took his wand and traced it over the outline of the paper. "Aaaaadddddhhaaaeeeeerrooooooooo."
He let go and the paper was stuck. "Simple, yes? Convenient? Not quite. Now then, I want you all to quickly practice this charm with some paper on the wall before we move on. Once you get your paper stuck, we shall continue on to the partner activity. There is paper on my desk."
Suddenly the glue bottles were gone and there were stacks and stacks of paper on his desk. "Feel free to take as much as you need."
Hopefully this would go quicker than the unsticking charm. Mariel followed Sarah to her place at the wall and looked towards Professor Ashby for further instructions. Glancing back at the Hufflepuff girl as she lowered her voice, Mariel nodded. She didn't want to see her House losing points either. Sure they were still in the lead, but it wasn't by much and they had already lost plenty in the past week or so.
Her attention was soon diverted as the professor spoke. He still seemed somewhat annoyed, but it wasn't all that surprising considering the chaos prevalent earlier. Having conveniently already found a partner, she listened carefully to the description of the next part of the lesson and his instructions. She repeated, 'ahd-high-row' a few times as he requested then listened further.
Mariel narrowed her eyes slightly as she watched his demonstration, then nodded. That sounded easy enough. She walked up to the front of the class to retrieve paper for her and Sarah, then stopped midway. This wasn't the partner activity? She raised an eyebrow as she wondered what else they'd be doing, then continued on her way.
As she got back to her place near the wall by Sarah, she handed her friend a piece of paper, then set about to complete her task. Remembering the incantation, adhaero, she took a deep breath in preparation of the drawn out word. The Ravenclaw girl held the paper in place with one hand and traced the edges with her wand in the other hand. "Aaaadddhhaaaeeerrrrrooooo," she said as she traced, yet the word sorta just ran out about 7/8 of the way through, leaving a corner unstuck. Staring at the unstuck corner a moment as she touched it, she shrugged and gave it another quick "adhaero," as she traced the corner to complete the stuck paper.

Daniel listened vigilantly to Professor Ashby's instructions. He wanted to regain the lost points so he better do something good.
He repeated the incantation in his mind adhaero, adhaero, adhaero, adhaero, adhaero. He wanted to perfect it badly.
He walked towards the table and grabbed five pieces of paper. He put it on a desk near the wall and started by getting a piece and sticking it on the wall. adhaero, and another one, adhaero then another one, adhaero followed by two more, adhaero, adhaero. Withins minutes he had managed to stick the papers unto the wall.
Now for the easy part, the unsticking spell. AVEXIS, AVEXIS, AVEXIS AVEXIS, AVEXIS after a little more that 5 seconds paper came flying down from the wall. That should do the trick! |

Hopefully working with her would take his mind off of the stress that had built up over the last few days. "So will I be sticking you to the wall or vis versa?" he asked, jokingly. Elizabeth had noticed that her idea for moving the desks had apparently not gone without notice, even though it appeared nobody else had thought of it. But she put that thought in the back of her mind as Ludo agreed to be her partner.
She grinned at his joke, and then raised an eyebrow. "And what exactly would you do if you had me stuck to a wall?," she asked, teasing but also slightly curious. Things had been a little strange since the whole thing with Forrester. And everything else that had gone on since then had added to the stress, so she wanted things to be a bit more relaxed. Quote:

OOC: If you don't have a partner, just pretend. You can also ask Ashby. He doesn't bite. I promise!
Then her head turned as Professor Ashby announced the next spell they were learning, and she snickered a little as it appeared Ludo's joking theory might not be as much of a joke as originally thought. But then she brought her attention back to class, muttering the spell to herself a few times.
Watching as Ludo proceeded to stick paper to the wall as they had been instructed, she smiled at how funny they all sounded casting the spell. Then she made her way over to pick up about half a dozen pieces of paper for herself. Going back over to Ludo, she grinned. Being a little silly, she spent a moment pretending she was going to stick the paper to him, but then spun and held the paper to the wall next to where he had stuck his. Tracing the edge with her wand, she drawled "Aaadddhhheeerrrooo," being careful not to accidentally stick her hand with the paper.
Once she finished tracing the paper, she drew her hand back to find the paper was still clinging fast to the wall. Curious, she went closer and tried to see if she could peel it off, and when it was stuck, she smiled again. "Cool."

She handed the paper on the wall "Adhaerooooooo!" but only the bottom of the paper sticked "Aaaadhaaaeeeeroooo!" and the paper was all stuck. This is a lazy spell... well accio is worse... i mean better she smiled thinking about that.

"It's okay Jake, happens to the best of us." Jake stood stock still for a moment, staring at Kayla in slight shock, eyes wide. Well, at least he was free from that stuff. At first trying not to laugh, Jake couldn't help but break into his stupid little giggle. "Sorry..." he smiled, biting hard on his lip to stop himself doing so. Wow, he was a lot cheerier than he had been as of late. "Erm... Peeves... here?" Jake asked, suddenly confused, staring at Kayla. He didn't quite catch her tone, so he shook his head clear of any confusion. "What... erm... do we do now?" Jake muttered, half turning towards Professor Ashby, not sure who he was directing his attention to anymore. "Sorry," he murmured again, to Kayla.

| The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas. William took a piece of paper his face set with un rue determination as he placed it on the wall, his blue eyes daring the spell not to work. Raising his wand he began taking a deep breath as he pointed his wand to the piece of paper and began, "Addddddhhhhaaaeeeeerooooooo" he drawled out as he traced the paper to the wall. Taking his hand off the paper he frowned as all but one corner stuck. "Well, it's a start." he said turning to his partner and shrugging.
"Avexsis." he said confidently, watching the paper slip to the floor. He watched it flutter to the ground before picking it back up and trying again. He turned back to the wall and stuck his hand there, holding the paper steady. "Addddddhhhhaaaeeeeerooooooo" he drawled out as he traced the paper carefully. This time when he let go of the paper it stuck to the wall fully.
He turned to Rian, "You're turn." He said happily before thinking, "You know this will make writing homework so much more funner." he nodded to himself, thinking he'd try that later.

Stood by the wall Sarah saw Mariel nod her agreement at them keeping quiet. She knew her friend didn't like talking during class anyway, unless it was necessary.
Sarah's head turned to the left as she heard the Professor speak.
Listening intently as Ashby gave his intructions,Sarah nodded along.
Hmmm sticking charm? Well that made sense. They already knew the un-sticking charm, best to learn how to stick things as well.....unless the teachers were going to volunteer again.
She was about to go and get her paper from his desk when she noticed Mariel had already got some. "Thank you," she said, grinning and taking the sheet from her friend. If we have to do this on our own, what do we have partners for? Musing about that in her head for a few seconds Sarah finally shrugged it off.. I'm sure he'll tell us soon. "Adhaero,adhaero,adhaero...." Sarah practiced before she put the paper on the wall. I hope this goes well and I don't stick something else..it would be just my luck.
Holding the paper on a free bit of wall,Sarah put her wand on the top corner and began tracing around the edge... "Adddddhhhhhaaaaeeerrooo." OH.She got as far as her hand and found she hand to twist like a contortionist to finish in one go.
With her eyes closed she slowly let go of the paper and peeped out to see the results.Surprisingly most of it had stuck. The bottom edge wasn't down, though,so Sarah redid it and stood back to admire her handy-work. "Not bad,I suppose," she muttered. "How have you done?" she asked, turning to Mariel and seeing her piece stuck fast too. "Cool!..Are we supposed to unstick them as well?" |

"Oh I don't know...leave you here for the Professor to scrape you off like a piece of gum?" He chuckled as he took another sheet of paper.
His eyes went wide as Liz appeared to start the sticking charm on him, automatically reaching for his own wand. But he laughed as he realized what was what and turned back to the wall.
This time he held two sheets up against the wall at once and stuck them together. However, this took an even longer use of the incantation.

Ian smiled. Thank goodness everyone seemed to be getting the hang of this quicker than the other spell. It sure made his lesson a lot easier. "Excellent work, class," he said, applauding them all. "I think we should be able to move on to our next activity now! Before I explain it though, may I have a volunteer? One will be fine."
Ohohohoho. This was going to be fun.
