Agie gave a look at Anna, picked up her books and went over to get a lock.

She looked at the stupid kid and then stormed out of the room. She was going to watch him.

LadyNerd 02-10-2009 01:49 AM

Lyra clapped her hands together as the Magical Professor Ashby emerged from the tank. "Brilliant work," she mumbled to herself with slight giggles. She liked this one, he was quite a joker. Her eyes then shifted over to the other man that the professor was speaking about.

Mr. Masterson! That was his name. Hmm, she preferred Mr. Groundskeeper instead as it had a nice ring of...whatever to it. She wanted to stay and see the red panda. She walked over to the man and just stood and stared at the red panda and then to Mr. Groundskeeper...and then to the wet professor. "May I pet your panda," she asked as her green eyes pleaded with Mr. Groundskeeper. Please! she mouthed and gave an innocent look with a smirky smile.

She would grab a lock later. She had all day to do that, but then Agie stormed out of the room. OH she was mad, but Lyra had no idea what she was mad about. She had been watching the red panda.

Rian blinked a few times at the abrupt...freeage...of the professor. Alrighty then... She shrugged to herself and walked to her desk. She picked up her things, then walked over to the window.

Simple enough, she thought as she grabbed a lock. Now, I just have to find something to lock. How about Jenn's mouth? she smiled at the thought, already seeing her best friend's face if she really asked to lock and unlock her mouth. Trunks are so boring. I'll have to find something exciting to unlock. She turned to thank the professor, then left the room, sticking the lock in her bag.

Egyptian_Blue 02-10-2009 01:51 AM

Nikita swooped over to grab a lock. "Thank you, Professor!" she called on her way out the door. She gave the loud Hufflepuff a large amount of space as she made her way out the door. Loud, obnoxious people were not her type at all.

hufflepuff_keeper_11 02-10-2009 01:52 AM

Set took a lock and raced after Cadence. He wanted to disscuss the lesson and well, just talk.

PadfootAndTheWolf 02-10-2009 01:52 AM

Chris walked over to the table and grabbed a lock for the homework. "Good bye Prfoessor, that was a very interseting lesson!" and he walked out of the classroom.

When had such a normal and not particularly complex lesson as charms had become so. . . so. . . something! She had actually managed to hurt someone. Physically hurt someone, that is. Never, in her sixteen years of life, had Willow hurt another human being!

Other than in Quidditch, of course. But Quidditch didn't really count, according to her; injuries happened very often during a Quidditch game.

But definitely NOT during a Charms lesson.

Instantly, she dropped her wand making a face as if the little stick was some kind of deadly weapon, and faintly heard as it hit the floor beneath her. "I. . . er. . . are you alright?" What a stupid question. Of course he wasn't alright! For Merlin's sake, the boy was in pain and anyone would be able to tell. Was it so hard to come up with something smart to say? So much for being a Ravenclaw. . . "I really didn't, er--" she cleared her throat, for her voice had came out a bit hoarse, and then took a deep breath, "I did not mean to do that. It was an accident. Really. I am sooooo sorry. . . " she whispered, in something that sounded like a plea, but not quite. "I, er--please don't cry." Please don't cry? Seriously? Weelll--she did have a point, for if Dominic started to cry, she might start to cry, too, and that was something she was not looking forward to do.

Awkwardly, she patted his good arm. And then quickly dropped it as soon as she realized she was touching someone.

Ugh. Where was her usual confidence? Gone, gone with the wind, apparently.

This had officially become her worst class ever. Even worst than that Herbology class a few terms ago when she had accidentaly killed a plant. But this was an entire different situation, because Willow did not care for plants, while Dominic, well. . . he was the only boy she'd ever been able to relate to.

Well, Clifford Carden could say now that she was indeed Bone Crusher. Oh, perfect.

However, this quickly left her head as soon as the possibility of landing on detention ocurred to her.

No!

Dominic held his arm protectively as he waited for the Professor to approach them and his elbow that was quite injured due to being ‘opened’ with a charm. Canaries; why did everything bad seem to happen this term to him? First some ancient guy decided to run his life for him and the next thing is that his elbow joint is dislocated and not even from quidditch!

Hearing the clink of her wand, Dominic’s golden topaz eyes flickered downward to the little stick and then up slightly towards Willow’s forest green ones. “Just …” he wanted so badly to tell her that he wasn’t and to be quiet and to just leave him alone. But for some reason towards this girl in front of him, he was able to do none of those things. Especially at her expression that truly looked apologetic; inhaling deeply, Dominic tried to get some oxygen to his brain into to truly think clearly but nothing seemed to work.

Not until he felt contact on his good arm – his protective shield. Before he could draw back in shock, she pulled back first as though realizing what she was doing.

“It’s… oh … Really, it was an accident, it’s charms,” Not like that was any excuse for opening his elbow joint instead of the lock, but for her, it was enough. Granted charms had never been one of his best subjects, but he typically enjoyed it well enough to get by.

Before he could mutter anything else – not that he had said much really to begin with – the Professor was over at his side investigating his arm that was shielded with the good one. “Uh… friend?” he blinked at hearing the words that the Professor had uttered. Well at least he was good and honest in the regards that he wasn’t going to take chances in healing his precious arm that Kaika would slaughter him if he couldn’t use in quidditch.

“Right, thank you,” Dominic finally settled on, not willing to make too much more of a scene than he already had. Cradling his arm, he looked precariously over towards Willow and waited for her to agree to escorting him to the hospital wing.

Cam was relieved when the professor finally got out of the chains and locks. But the class was awesome, he was sure that barely any professor would make a death-defying act just to teach the students a spell. Well he was certainly starting to get good at it, and he wished that he could take a smooch on his wand again if only there weren't that much people around him. He nodded and picked up a lock, then packing up to leave the room.

"Great lesson Professah Ashby," he said and left with his bag beside him.

Constantine turned and looked a girl that looked familiar...oh yes! She was the girl that sat at the same table he did in the ice cream shop...

"Certainly," he smiled, turning to her and holding the panda protectively to his chest again. "He likes to be scratched behind the ears," he chuckled as he did that himself, the panda's little ear twitching cutely.

EquestrianGal88 02-10-2009 01:54 AM

Freya walked over to the window, after making sure the panda wasn't in her ear anymore. A whole bunch of evil schemes came to her mind, and she grinned sneakily. 'I should find a chain and lock two people together...that would be fun. Or shackle someone to one of the tables in the Great Hall.' Okay, maybe that last one was a little mean...too bad.
She walked over and got her things, eyeing the lock she had selected. Nothing out of the ordinary, so that was alright. Freya left the room, bidding a goodbye to the Professor and Mister Masterson. "Have a nice day you two. And brilliant lesson, Professor, thank you."

And with that, the last of the locks fell to the bottom of the tank, followed by the chains, and then Ian's feet. Huzzah! He was free!

He quickly pushed to the surface of the tank and stood up, taking in a breath of fresh air. "You were all fantastic!" he exclaimed. "I knew you all would save me!"

He didn't dare tell them he had cast that bubble-head charm. "Thank you all for your assistance, and of course thanks to you as well, Mr. Masterson." He nodded and winked at his nephew and turned back to the class.

"Well, that will be all for today, class. For your homework, I would like you to simply practice the charm with the locks over there by the window. Please take one each and go around the school, finding something to place the lock on. Then, all you have to do is unlock it!

If you have any questions about today's lesson, feel free to ask me after or come by my office. Other than that, you are free to go after you have picked up your lock! Have a wonderful day, everyone!"

Anna fought the urge to jump up, cheer, and do a little when she noticed the professor finally break free and come up for air. Feeling a rush of relief overcome her, Anna returned her seat and listened carefully while the homework was assigned. Their assignment didn't seem too difficult to, and it actually seemed rather fun, as well. Anna gathered her materials, went to the window and chose, a lock, and then exited the room.

BeccaBear 02-10-2009 01:57 AM

Allie gathered her stuff together, and went over to take a lock.
"Great lesson, Professor!" she said, on her way out of the room. "I'm glad you didn't drown!"

Felixir 02-10-2009 02:00 AM

Lock things up, eh?

Bwahahahaaaa... Jake watched with a sly smile as Cameron exited the classroom. He went over to grab his own lock, before locking it onto the strap on his bag. He approached the Professor, holding his accessorised wand.

"I just wanted tah say thanks, Professor," Jake smiled. "Especially for thah nifty wand sticker and sticking it on there..." he nodded awkwardly and backed up, conveniently forgetting about how he'd freaked out over the situation with the tank not too long ago.

However, if done correctly and flawlessly, there really should be no difference on how well the charm works, as long as there is no counter-jinx in place, of course. As for heavily-warded doors, I'm sure a very skilled witch or wizard would be able to pull it off, but I have yet to try, nor am I confident I would have much success.

Take a point for Ravenclaw for such an insightful question."

Celandine smiled brightly at the professor and busied herself with her notes, looking up a few times as the lesson progressed and the students freed Professor Ashby, but not volunteering to help since she figured other people probably needed practice.

Once the homework had been assigned, Celandine wrote it down and took a lock before standing and getting her things together. "Thank you Professor Ashby! I can't wait until the next class!" She grinned brightly and skated out of the classroom, her bag slung over her shoulder.

Lyra began to giggle as she walked up to the little panda. "Glad you said it was a he because I would have called it a she," she said as her hand reached up to scratch behind the panda's ears just like the Groundskeeper said. "So does he have a name?" She began to make kissy faces and other little faces at the panda. His hair was different feeling and she knew that she would never get another chance to pet a panda, or at least she thought.

LeapFrog 02-10-2009 02:18 AM

Daphne walked over to Professor Ashby on her way out. "That was a good lesson, sir," she said. "I did pretty well, but I'm not as powerful as I used to be. It's all about the movement..." she added, voice trailing off. "I'll stop by your office soon."

She walked by the window and grabbed she lock. She would probably just do something boring, like locking up her trunk. Perhaps she'd be more creative after a nap. She walked out, heading back to the Ravenclaw tower.

Torchwood 02-10-2009 02:24 AM

Qaz packed up her gear, grabbed a lock to practice on, gave the Professor a nod and headed out the door....

druidflower 02-10-2009 02:46 AM

It eventually occurred to Tobi that merely staring dolefully at the lock wasn't going to make it go away.

"Looks like I have to do this," he muttered, placing the lock, the last of his school supplies remaining on his desk, in his book bag, "I sure hope that pretty Nurse doesn't mind being flooded with casualties."

Tobi strapped the bag over his shoulder and headed for the door. Before he left he turned around. "Thanks for the lesson Professor Ashby. I'll try to be careful with the homework," he said.

No reason to be ungrateful, just because you're a menace with a wand. he reminded himself, as he headed downstairs for supper.

TwilightHodges 02-10-2009 03:40 AM

Twilight had just watched everything in awe. She had not been afraid for the professor because she was sure he would have had safeguards in place. He was to kind to want to traumatize his studetns in the first class. She smiled to herself when he was done.

Twilight went over to the window and collected hr lock, she liked the one she ended up with it looked kind of ancient and pretty.

cake.ninjak 02-10-2009 03:52 AM

Ian watched as the students left the classroom and thanked them all for the compliments. "Thank you all for making the lesson so much fun! I await our next lesson!"

As soon as everyone had left, he closed and locked the door to his classroom, careful to mutter the spell that made the door impenetrable by stray alohomora charms.
