Beginning Flying - First Years An area outside of the Quidditch Stadium has been set up for the first flying lesson of the year. At the center of the area, school brooms are lined up neatly in two rows. Attening the lesson for First Years only? If so, please gather near the brooms but don't touch them! Those who aren't a first-year student should scram before the Flying Professor arrives. Class Time: Noon EST, 16 FEB 2009 |
Jake approached the brooms and stood there, waiting for the professor. He couldn't wait to get in the air, but was apprehensive about seeming like a show-off. Sigh. Still, he could learn how to properly fly, aside from his assumed method. |
Ana was extremely excited for this class. She passed through the professor and said hello to him "Hello Professor!". She approached one of the brooms and waited |
Herminny picked out a good broom on the left side and stood beside it as she waited for more 1sy years, mabe Gryffindor 1st years to arrive. |
Flying classes, for like, first years only! That was awesome, especially because he actually made the Quidditch team as Chaser. This was supposedly going to make him a better flyer but he already was. A smirk upon his face he hurried over to the center of the arena and looked at the brooms, licking his lips after finally noticing how the handles of the broom looked almost brown. Chocolate brown. Mmmmm. He shook his head violently to stop thinking about that, considering these were probably old... used unlike a wand. It's not chocolate, it's not chocolate, it's not chocolate. "Hmm..." |
Vindictus arrived to his lesson and was surprised at the small group that had managed to arrive, and slightly angry at the lack of any Ravenclaws. But that anger was quickly replaced by the words of a Hufflepuff who was clearly addressing thin air. He walked up behind the girl and tapped her on the shoulder. Quote:

As Melanie walked onto the ground that had been cleared off for try-outs she bounced happily over to Ana, who was being questioned by the proffeser. She gave her friend a questioning look and then stared around at all the brooms. Brooms! She couldn't wait to get up in the air again... "Hey Ana!" she said, with a small wave. As she glanced around Melanie realized there were a few other people as well. Only one she didn't recognize though. Melanie had been told to be quiet by Jake... a lot and she had talked to Cam by the lake. Of course she knew Ana though. they were pretty close friends. |
Herminny snickered a bit at this comment, she is always one to laugh at the lamest of things. |
He stared at the Hufflepuff girl who clearly lost the ability to speak in his presence. It happened all the time and he laughed before walking over to a lone Gryffindor girl standing by the brooms. Quote:

Oh, sorry, I I'll join the rest of the class, I must have misheard something you said,I'm sorry. |

"I hope all of you are first years. If you're not, then leave," he said and folded his arms. "Today, its crucial that you pay attention to every single word of instruction I provide and that you ask me questions when necessary. Your friends are not the flying experts. I am." He stood there and waited for them to respond. |
Herminny was mortified but she kept it to herself, as she thought, this is going to be a long class. |
Erm... How did they respond to that? "Yes, Professor," Jake nodded frantically. Like he would think about trusting anyone other than this guy. |
Oye! This was going to be a long class. Taking a deep breath, Vindictus kept a stern look on his face as he addressed the students. "I want each of you to walk over to the brooms - walk, not run or skip - and stand on the left side of a school broom." |
Herminny said, "yes professor", putting on a brave face thinking I can't get in anymore trouble, not after the late comer to DADA yesterday, as much as I don't want to stand here and be quiet about this whole issue, I know I have to for my House, thats a total of 25 points lost in about a day. Herminny walked to one of the the brooms and stood on the left side of it. |
Jake looked around at his fellow students as he approached the brooms via walking and stood on the left side of one. Then he looked up at the professor again, awaiting further instructions. Is everyone scared of this guy? |
Not run or skip?! Well that quite wasn't fair, he always skipped since walking was like plain boriiing. Cam walked to where they were and eyed one of the less chocolate-looking brooms. As the teacher instructed he stood on the left side of the broom and waited for further instructions. He wanted to hide his face, not wanting to go the class at all as they forbid him to skip. There was nothing wrong with that, right? Vindi-something is... destroying my ways of skipping. |
Ruby walked over to a broom and stood on the left side, she was looking forward to flying |
Keefer walked carefully over to the brooms. Wow. I finally get to learn to fly! he thought. Standing to the left of a broom, he folded his hands so he would not be tempted to touch the broom. He turned his full attention to the professor and waited patiently for his next instructions. |
Vindictus watched each of them carefully. "Carelessness around a broomstick can be hazardous to your health," he told them as he followed them over to the brooms. "Flying is a privilege of our kind and should not be taken lightly. Brooms can sense fear. Now place your right hand over the broom handle and say 'UP' in a firm voice!" OOC: We frown upon the use of OOC-comments, but I need to say something OOC to everyone who is RPing in a flying lesson for the very first time. I do not expect you to be able to do everything perfectly on your first (or even second or third) try during this lesson. Have fun RPing mistakes because then all of us have fun. Remember not to double-post - use the edit button if you need to, but don't abuse the use of the edit button especially if your character gets in trouble. Also, I do award points for creative RPing during my lessons and very rarely do I give homework. |
Herminny placed her right the broom next to her and with all the confidence she could muster said,"up" and the broom started to move a little bit upward but she felt quite defeated after what happened at the beginning of class so she was quite drained. But she had to keep trying so she said,"up" with a bit more confidence thinking about what she may do at a later time, and the broom flew up to her hand and ahe smiled. |
Ruby nodded and placed a hand over her broom and said "up" she looked at her broom and sighed she thought really hard and said once more "up" and the broom moved a little she grinded her teeth and nearly screamed she was usually good at everything obviously not flying she thought for the third time she placed her hand over her broom and nearly shouted "UP" the broom came half way up and then fell back down again. Ruby closed her eyes and calmed herself down and placed her hand over her broom and said "up" the broom went to her hand she smiled and thought Finally |
Jack walked tentatively over to his broom "Up" he commanded "Up" he said again stupid broom Jack tried again "Up!" he told it "Now" he started to tell it as it moved around on the floor "Stupid broom" he muttered "Up" Jack told it again "No, down, down" he started to tell it as it hit his feet "No, no!" he told it off "Nooooo" he poked it "Down" Gah! Stay down! he thought "Help?" he called, his legs were starting to hurt now "Ow, bad broom, ow, down!" he told it. |
Carelessness? He was too pro for everyone, this was like... too easy! Looking at the broom with his eyes he started to stare at it as thought it was some sort of a tiger and pretended that he was Tarzan. The battle cry was like, soooo awesome but sadly knew that if he did the "AHHHYIAHHHYIAHYIAHYIAAH" battle cry right now, he would surely lose a lot of points. With a small smirk on his face, he wondered if he could do it with his eyes closed. Right, he was professional with this already right? "UP!" he commanded but his smirk and smile faded away when the broom certainly did not obey him. Was it a broken broom...? It probably was since he knew that this was already too easy. So easy. "UP!" he repeated and frowned when it didn't obey him again, just wiggling in its place. It wasn't even flying at least a centimeter on the ground. I said... "UP!" It was because of the force he said in his voice, the broom lifted itself up on the ground and quickly went up to Cam's hand. The force of the broom hitting his hand, however, completely hurt him so he dropped the broom back on the floor and sniffled. "OUCH!" His hand was starting to go a bit red, but he shook it to block the pain away. The broom was broken, he kneewww it! |
