| | |  Basic Arithmancy Lesson 1
As you step through the Arithmancy classroom doors, you see wooden desks and chairs arranged in a circle. Professor Shackleton has provided a number of cushions in a myriad of colors and textures that are stacked by the door for you to choose from to match your comfort and liking. Two walls are filled with thick wooden shelves, filled with a seemingly endless number of Arithmancy texts and the occasional Ancient Runes and Divination reference. The other two walls of the room are covered in framed pictures and posters of a very old man doing mathematical calculations, a map of the Mediterranean, a witch carrying a large wooden number seven, a chart converting letters to numbers, and many more pictures with a number at the top and people exhibiting various qualities below.
When you look to the front of the room, you see a tall, blonde-haired woman in powder blue knee-length robes sitting behind a desk made of dark angelique wood. On the desk is a small placard reading "Professor Macadrian A. Shackleton - Arithmancy," as well as a small stack of thin, leather-bound booklets, an assortment of papers and quills, several copies of the class textbook, and a small pouch that she keeps very close by her left hand. She smiles welcomingly at you as you enter the classroom and makes a small gesture for you to take a seat in one of the many desks in the circle. OOC: This lesson is for first, second, and third years ONLY. Any students in fourth year and above who post will be dismissed. | |

Of course, she had noticed the class split, and had wondered about it, like any other student. But Professor Shackleton's speech certainly clarified the matter.

He looked up to the professor and quietly nodded his head. When he heard that it had been split up into two sections, he was relieved. It probably would have been harder for the first years if they didn't split. Cam literally just opened his mouth a bit after hearing that some of the information won't be in the textbook. That meant he'd have to hear everything the professor says. Oh right, notes. From his bag he took out a quill and a parchment to work on. Okaaay... Chapters 1 and 2. Hope I remembered reading that.

As Proffessor Shackleton stopped, Miranda nodded having understood the information.

Grinning at Vivianne as the girl took the seat next to hers Nancy's attention was then occupied by Professor Shackleton who had just at that moment started the lesson. So it was true, there were two groups! Nancy wasn't completely sure how that should make her feel, because on the one hand she guessed it was way easier to for the professor teach that way but on the other hand she was going to miss her friends who were above grade three. Hmpf. She nodded at the professor's question while opening her textbook to look at the chapters they were going to cover today. | |

Ameera mouthed a nice to meet you towards Miranda before focusing her attention on Professor Shackelton. The class was split in terms of years. 1-3 years and 4-7th years. Ameera didn't know that the class had been taught differently in the past so she didn't have any questions. It was good that the class was getting started. Waiting had never been her fortee.

Sakura raised her hand slightly, before looking at the boy who called out. Sure he raised his hand but normally it was polite to wait for the teacher to pick someone to answer the question. "Adding on to what he said Arithmancy can be thought of as the science of number energies, with each number having its own vibratory influence." Sakura thought that this may get her house some points, as it didn't look like she was just stealing someone else's answer.

Miranda was quickly skimming through the book, she remembered reading about it but wasnt sure. Finally she saw the paragraph and raised her hand.

It involves using numbers, their energies and meanings to help us understand our lives and help us go through them better. They can identify challenges, and alert us to strong and weaker areas of us as individuals."
