| | Basic Arithmancy Lesson 1
As you step through the Arithmancy classroom doors, you see wooden desks and chairs arranged in a circle. Professor Shackleton has provided a number of cushions in a myriad of colors and textures that are stacked by the door for you to choose from to match your comfort and liking. Two walls are filled with thick wooden shelves, filled with a seemingly endless number of Arithmancy texts and the occasional Ancient Runes and Divination reference. The other two walls of the room are covered in framed pictures and posters of a very old man doing mathematical calculations, a map of the Mediterranean, a witch carrying a large wooden number seven, a chart converting letters to numbers, and many more pictures with a number at the top and people exhibiting various qualities below.
When you look to the front of the room, you see a tall, blonde-haired woman in powder blue knee-length robes sitting behind a desk made of dark angelique wood. On the desk is a small placard reading "Professor Macadrian A. Shackleton - Arithmancy," as well as a small stack of thin, leather-bound booklets, an assortment of papers and quills, several copies of the class textbook, and a small pouch that she keeps very close by her left hand. She smiles welcomingly at you as you enter the classroom and makes a small gesture for you to take a seat in one of the many desks in the circle. OOC: This lesson is for first, second, and third years ONLY. Any students in fourth year and above who post will be dismissed. |

Jake finished up the neat notes, and scrawled the homework down. Blech, he'd need some help with this.
"Thank you for the class Professor Shackleton," he nodded before heading towards the door. Then he saw his friend. "Hey, Cameron. I ain't seen you in ages," Jake looked around, people were leaving. "I'll meet you in the library or something at one point."
Checking he had everything, Jake headed for the door again.

Paris sighed in relief as the lesson was over, her head felt like it had been wrung out like a wet dishrag. She quickly wrote down her homework and started packing up her things.

He looked at the homework with widened eyes. The total was exactly 10 points which was quite a lot for him. However he frowned because the questions were a bit difficult, especially #1 and #2. Ah well, even if he gets some of them wrong he still might get a few points. Writing with his quill he copied the homework on his parchment and smiled. Arithmancy was a bit better than I thought it would be. Except the homework. Putting his books into his bag he waved goodbye to Professor Shackleton.

Sarah put her things away as she noticed the other students were leaving.
Smiling to Lina as the girl left. "Yes I hope so! Nice to meet you too."
Sarah slung her bag over her shoulder and sighed, before slowly walking out of the clasroom herself. Great first class of the term.I understand absolutely none of the homework. That -52 is going to be an awfully long time getting to the positives. |

Matilda sat in her seat, staring as her brain worked feverishly to grasp the concept.
“If it’s not a Master Number,” she hesitated, “then it’s a whole number?” She thought the number thing was alright, but the theory part was really hurting her head.

Lyra's chest swelled with happiness after erceiving the complement. She nodded her head to indicate that she understood the answers to her questions-'Although number 1 will still be difficult,'- gathered her things, said "Thank you for the lecture, Professor Shackleton," and left.

Lasca jotted down the homework. She was hoping to get the homeowrk done early so she wouldn't have to worry about it. Glancing up she saw Lyra and gave her friend a small wave. She had wanted to wave at Sarah but the girl had disappeared.
"Thank you professor." She gave Professor Shackleton a neat curtsy and then exited the classroom.

Sighing, Emalyn slung her bag over her shoulder. "Brilliant class, Professor," she smiled, extending her hand to Professor Shackleton. "See you!"

Professor Shackleton squinted in thought for a moment and then explained, "Well, technically all the numbers are whole numbers. The major distinction is between the basic single digit numbers 1 through 9, and the special Master Numbers 11, 22, and 33. The numbers one through nine all have their own unique qualities and most double digit numbers are simply made up of those qualities, but the Master Numbers have their own special unique characteristics, in addition to what the single digit number conveys. So the number 21 is really just made up of the energies of the two and the one, but the number 22 has its own special energy in addition to the energy of the two. Does that help?"

She wanted to say no, but she thought of something else instead, nodding quickly as the professor’s word came and went and left nothing of meaning behind. Her thoughts went something like this: Get out of here, quick! Escape! Flee! Make haste! Matilda didn’t do a very good job forcing a smile, but she managed to say “Alrightthankyouprofessorgoodbye!” before scurrying out the door.
