But he passed her with only a wave, so she waved back, figuring something had happened that was making him wary of interrupting her conversations. She would most likely get other chances to talk to him over the term, since they were back at Hogwarts.

Then she turned back to Mari. "Yeah, it is too bad. But I always have a bit of a problem watching him up there, trying to avoid getting hit by bludgers and everything. Especially since his wife just had a baby a few months ago. So part of me doesn't really mind having to be over here." She saw the othe rgirl looking at her pudding strangely, and was just about to ask if she was okay when she looked up again and spoke. "Yeah, the house cup is a points thing. Students get points for doing things like homework, or other things to help the staff or students. Or they can get points taken away for doing something wrong. There're hourglasses outside, in the entry, that keep track of each house's points. And at the end of term, the house with the most points gets a trophy." She paused as Mari then asked who the headmistress was. "Oh, Professor Rae. She also teaches DADA." She glanced up at the staff table again, then turned back. "She's sitting at the center of the staff table." She doesn't look too happy, she thought to herself. But she didn't want to overstep any bounds by going up to the headmistress to ask her if she was okay. Students asking such personal questions might be looked down on, she had no idea.

Mariska made a little noise of surprise. " Really? That's quite ingenious. It would encourage good behavior, at any rate." She said with a little laugh. She usually tried to follow the rules, unless of course she stood to gain something greater if she didn't. Most of the time, well...the rules didn't have a lot to offer. But then she did have a drive to be the best, and there were those pesky points. What a predicament,She thought to herself as she bit her lip a little. She looked over at the staff table again and nodded. " Oh I see." She said, making a mental note of the one person she'd have to steer clear of if she got the itch to break a rule or two. It always paid to know who the one in charge was.

" So you are an aunt." She said, remembering she had said that her older brother had a baby. " Do you have a nephew or niece?" She asked, her green eyes now on Elizabeth's face again. She smiled and ate another bite of pudding.

Well, she didn't know if that was the right answer. It was her sixth year, not a very easy one, but she hoped to do her best. "...well, I guess...you never know what the teachers will put you into this year...it's quite...unexpected...·" She told him.

So people really didn't want to follow them, points or no." She ate some more bread as the other girl noted who the headmistress was. "Professor Rae's pretty cool, actually. I mean, she can be strict, but generally it's pretty easy to stay on her good side," she said, conversationally.

She smiled as it was pointed out that she was an aunt. "I guess so. I never really thought about it that way. And a neice. Lily Ann. She's adorable. I got to see her a few times before coming over here," she explained.

"Uh-oh...Did I strike a nerve? Don't make tension this early, Ludo."
He dropped the subject.

He smiled again at Liz's teasing. "No! I love being teased by girls," he said sarcastically, keeping his smile. "Who knows? Maybe soon I'll have things to tease you two about."

Liz told him to wake up for the Headmistress' speech. "Oh yes, I'd nearly forgotten!" He reached over for a piece of cinnamon toast, hoping the sugar would keep him alert.
"So what classes are you guys looking forward too?" he inquired.

She resisted laughing at the sarcastic tone in his voice as he commented on her teasing. "I don't even know if Asteira has anything to tease me about yet. So it'd be interesting if you figured anything out. And it's not my fault you ran into her at Flourish and Blotts, and then acted all nervous when you saw us again in Fortescue's." She smiled again before reaching to take a drink of juice again.

Then he started as her comment about the speech registered in his head. "Classes? I don't know. I like most of them," she responded to his question.

"There was a lot of rule bending last term," she confirmed. "It was weirdly fun." She nodded as Mari looked back at the headmistress and agreed with her. "To be honest, I didn't get to meet very many of them last term. They were segregated too, so the only ones I got to experience were the female ones. But most of them are pretty cool too." She glanced back at the staff table as it registered there was another face up there that she vaguely remembered from last term, but not as a staff member. "That one girl up there is actually the same age as my cousin that graduated last term. So she is young. But I have no idea what she's doing back here now. I guess she got on staff right after graduating or something. But I know she and my cousin did not get along. And Rhiannon's pretty easygoing usually. So I would be wary of her," she said, indicating the girl at the table.

"Oh, an only child?," she commented as Mari took a drink of water. "That must have been interesting. I've never had that. Cause I'm second-oldest of four. Actually, I could consider myself the middle child, since Rhiannon grew up with us, and she's only a few years older than I am, and two years younger than my brother."

Melinda giggled when she saw Chris looking around. "I did as well...mostly this Great Hall...it is much bigger than the one at Belle's..." She said and smiled. "though...the lake was the place I sighed for everyday to get back to..." She told him and smiled wide.

Melinda sort of wondered if those moments were partially hers. She nodded and smiled. "Yeah...but it sure ended in a good thing...·" She said and played with her hands.

"I...can't stop thinking that I might be all my time...my free periods at the Whomping Willow...I...had a lot of peace in there...though the movements..." She said, barely laughing.

Chris laughed. "Don't worry Mel I really guess those memories weren't bad, I just don't like to think about them. Like well for starters thats were I actally had my heart broken, by my first girlfriend." Chris told Melinda. "Then there were some great once, like when I met you." He said.

Then, Chris mentioned when they met. Oh, oh...That was sure...a little embarrassing, because after that time, when they just introduced themselves, Melinda almost had a heart attack, in the middle of the lake, a teacher came to see her, just in time. What a day that was. She sort of smiled and nodded her head. "Yeah...it was the best..." She told him and showed a wide smile.
