Jenn walked in shivvering and sat on the sofa that was closest to the fire. She looked around and smiled at random people. She grinned at a girl that was on the other end of the sofa. Jenn's hair dripped slightly. Boy this fire felt good to her.

Maura looked over as someone sat on the other end. The girl was dripping wet. Maura smiled back at her. The fire must feel good to someone so wet and cold!

Laylee walked in the Common Room a few minutes after Maura, she had dropped all of her sketchpages in the hall way! Good thing no one was around! They would have seen a clutter of the same face.... How embarrassing!
"Hey Maura!" She said joining her by the fire. She took a seat in her favorite chair that was next to Maura, facing the fire. She noticed another girl by the fire dripping wet. Laylee wondered what had happened to her..

Jenn smiled back. "Hey. I'm Jenn."Jenn said extending her hand.

Jenn looked around when another girl came and sat down. Jenn giggled as she looked at herself. Jenn looked like a mess. Wet and cold. Jenn laughed and said,"I'm Jenn. If your wondering what happened, I just got back from swimming."Jenn said laughing.

Laylee smiled at the girl as she introdued herself to the both of them. "Im Laylee!" he said waving, since she couldnt reach the girl from where she was sitting. "Did you swim in you clothes?" She asked, looking her up and down, smiling.

Jenn laughed. "No. But my clothes did fall in the water."Jenn said laughing and blushing. "It's nice to meet you."Jenn said smiling.

Laylee laughed, then covered her mouth. That was rude of her. "Sorry." she said blushing. She looked over at Maura, knowing she could read her faces.
"Its nice to meet you to!" She said smiling brightly, her cheeks still red. "What year are you in Jenn?" Laylee asked, starting a coversation.

Emily felt a little relieved and leaned back into her chair. But then she jumped back up. She had forgotten that Brad was still waiting for her letter and she didn't want to disappoint her aunt Bridget by ignoring her either. Emily squeezed through the common room and walked out to the owlery.

Maura grinned. "Hey, Laylee!" she said. She hugged her friend. "Haven't seen you in awhile!" she said sarcastically. She watched Laylee sit down, and looked back at Jenn as Laylee started talking to her.

Maura smiled. "Hi, Jenn, I'm Maura," she said, shaking Jenn's wet hand. "Er..." She wiped it dry on her pant leg, then laughed. "You fell in? I'm sorry!" she said, smiling.
Maura stifled a yawn; it was getting late. She sat back so that Jenn and Laylee could actually see one another and watched them have a conversation.

Laylee laughed and nooded. "Yes my friend, its been a while." She said grinning.
She laughed again at Maura's face to Jenn. She seemed to have been as amused to some sort as she was.
She sat and waited for Jenn to respond and smiled.

Maura smiled and nodded. "I haven't seen you in two whole minutes!" she said in mock distress. She laughed at Laylee, who was pretending to make as big a deal out of this as she was. She turned back to Jenn and smiled at her.

Laylee laughed.
She curled her legs to her chest, feeling the warmth of the fire take over her. She smiled and closed her eyes. After a few moments she yawned and rubbed her eyes. It was getting late. Laylee watched the fire dance for a while, letting her eyes slowly close. She wasnt sleeping, but she could have been! She was so tired.

Maura watched Laylee curl up and close her eyes. She hoped Laylee wouldn't fall asleep. She could tell that something significant had happened to her best friend, something happy, but she hadn't asked what it was yet. She poked Laylee.

"So I can tell you're happy about something. What happened?" she asked.

Laylee opened her eyes lazily as Maura poked her. She smiled and giggled. "I saw Chandan." She said, keeping her cool and not freaking out.... yet.

Maura frowned, having a complete brain fart. "Who?" she asked. Then she remembered and her eyes lit up. "Oh! Yeah! Sorry! I'm so tired I'm forgetting things!" she said. "Did you really? Yay!" she said. "I'm happy for you! Tell all." She wanted all the details.

Laylee smiled as Maura realized who she was talking about. "I saw him, just sitting at the Whomping Willow! I was so amazed that I couldnt even talk! When he saw me he, he hugged me." Laylee left out the spinning part. She smiled. "It seemed like we hugged forever, then, well then we were interupted. I cant say that I was happy about it. But, Erin didnt know. Well, we talked a little. I cant believe how much I still.... I mean... nevermind." Laylee said blushing.

Maura broke into a wide grin as she listened. "He did? Oh! That's cute," she said, giggling now. "Well don't blame Erin...whoever she is...she probably didn't see the...like...." She searched for the right word. "'relationship'--for lack of a better word--between you two." She was ecstatic! This was so good for Laylee! "'How much I still...I mean...never mind'?" she mimicked, one eyebrow raised skeptically. She smiled. "Good for you though, Laylee!"

Laylee smiled brighter. "I know it wasnt Erin!" She said nodding. "I just, would have rather she wouldnt have been there." She said, then laughed. "Im just kidding." She really wasnt. Laylee blushed when she said the word relationship. "Friendship." She corrected shortly.
Laylee's face had never been so red as she mimicked her. Had she sounded that.... silly.
"Thanks." She said smiling.

Maura shook her head. "I know what you mean. You're not kidding, I can tell. Don't even try that one on me!" she said, giggling. "No...i think it might evolve into more than a friendship," she said quietly. She watched Laylee turn red, amused. "You're welcome!" she said cheerfully.

James walked in the common room. He saw Maura and said, "Hello Maura and her friend."

Maura looked up. "Oh...hey, James," she said lightly, then turned back to Laylee.

"How have you been?", James asked Maura.

Maura shrugged. "Pretty good," she mumbled. "What about yourself?"

Ludo entered Ravenclaw Common and stopped. The atmosphere seemed to have changed since last he'd been in.
His eyes darted to the Hourglass above the fire and widened. They'd made a huge comeback! He then looked at the notice board. A Dueling Club meeting was scheduled and there was Transfiguration homework.
"Ok, could've done without the homework, but this is turning into a great day!" he thought.

He sat in his chair by the window and copied the assignment down, humming lazily to himself.

Daphne walked into the Common Room, slightly out of breath from the hike up the tower. It took her body a little while to adjust from all the walking involved with attending Hogwarts. In a few weeks she'd be able to reach the portrait hole with little to no fatigue.

But Daphne was looking forward to putting her feet up. She found an empty couch and curled up at one end. She closed her eyes and started to drift off. Then she felt something jump up beside her and curl up around her. "Angelica..." she murmured, barely lifting up her eyelids to see the black cat in her lap.

Having been disturbed from her daze, Daphne was more awake. She looked around the Common room, which was very quiet. She assumed she was alone and let out a very loud yawn. Only after this unattractive sound escaped her mouth did she realize there was a boy sitting by a window. She hoped he didn't hear that, but knew he most likely did. Perhaps he didn't realise it was a yawn, she told herself, thinking about what else could sound like a walrus in the room.
