Please be sure to post only in your class. OWL and NEWT level classes will be starting shortly. Professor Bontecou decided to skip dinner and spent the afternoon in his office (once he'd found it again) to be sure he didn't show up late for his OWL lesson. He was excited about teaching again. His first lesson had gone smashingly well. So, he sat in his well-lit classroom, his nose stuck in an old muggle fantasy novel, and waited for the students to arrive. | |

Biting back a question about Terry, Evolette let out a little sigh. Ever since she had seen the two of them together in the library, she had had a lingering thought, but she really didn't want to over react before she knew if anything was actually going on.
She dropped her head into her hand and waited patiently for the classroom to fill up, so that they could begin their lesson. As the Professor started to speak, she leaned forward only slightly, waiting to hear the answers from her fellow classmates. |

Anna raised her hand again. "Well, I've heard the love potions contains ashwinder eggs, so maybe some of those are used. Pufferfish eyes cause something to get bigger, so maybe if a person wanted to increase a certain emotion, they could add in some of those. Sneezewort, scurvy-grass and lovage are all used for potions to confuse the ones who consume them, so that would be an idea, as well," she said.

"Alright," Professor Bontecou said and clapped his hands in front of him, then vigorously rubbed them together. "Now we're going to get down and dirty. I want to start this semester off with a fun little potion my dear potions professor taught us in my sixth year: The Anti-Love Potion. Now, just be warned, this is really just a delusting potion, and not a hate potion. Some of you might find it handy in keeping your hormones in check so that you don't get caught snogging in a broom cupboard by Lainey," he laughed. "Who can tell me the ingredients?"

Keeping hormones in check? Her hormones were alwasy in check, thank you very much. Willow was glad that she wasn't one of those Hormone crazy girls, running around the school, crying over someone. Regardless, making an Anti-love potion seemed like a good idea. Er--for the future, that is.
"Well, one of the ingredients we should avoid using would be Frozen Ashwinder eggs, since I think these are used on love potions," Pointed out the girl with her hand in the air.

"Actually, you'd be surprised. Many potions and those with inverse effects have similar or even the same ingredients. It's how they're used that makes the difference. That's why attention to detail, especially at this and NEWT level is critical. Sometimes just one stir in the wrong direction can be catastrophic (though not to the potions we'll be brewing).
"Now, everyone should take out their cauldrons and I'll post up the instructions. We'll talk a bit more about the ingredients later on."
And with that, he flicked his wand and words appeared on the chalkboard. Quote:

* add 2 raven feathers and boil for 5 minutes while stirring clockwise
(stopping point: remove cauldron from heat and cover, mixture will be viable for up to one month. When restarting to brew, slowly bring the mixture back up to a boil before continuing.)
* add 20 translucently thin slices of skinkroot and simmer for 10 minutes or until potion turns pink
* add 3 rat eyes
* remove from heat and stir until black streaks appear ooc: I'm heading to bed now so I won't be able to respond again until tomorrow morning. Please feel free to RP brewing and my character doesn't mind if you chat amongst yourselves so long as it isn't to distraction. Try not to blow anything up.

Emotional distortions?! What kind of class was this!? For Merlin's sake, it was supposed to be about potions, not psychology!! Sighing quietly, Dominic listened to his peers talking about the emotional distortions. Tempted to suggest females as one of them, the hufflepuff was grateful at the change of topic as that suggestion may have gotten him in trouble.
Down and dirty? Meh, what was it with teachers wanting to get DIRTY!? He was not going to be doing that. Nor was into love, so this potion would certainly not be pertaining to him. Icky! Just the thought was nauseating.
"Well, perhaps you might want to put some of the male hormones in there, Professor," he said quietly. After all, male hormones would counteract those icky emotional female ones, right?

Kaika wrote down the ingredients on her parchment and read the instructions carefully. She couldn't help to chuckled at the 'raven feathers' ingredients, it seemed funny to her for some reason.
Involuntarily, her head turned to where a boy's voice was coming from, and rolled her eyes. Of course. It had to be Dominic asking such a thing. "I think male hormones are way worse than the females" she said, although she didn't truly cared.
She added the 500 ml of water in her cauldron and waited for it to boil. They were finally making something other than cookies or whatever nonsense Melita thought of doing.
