Piper noticed everyone filing into the room, and she sighed as she watched people greeting each other. Maybe if she spent more time talking to the other kids, and not the professors she might have more friends. She sighed as she looked around..

Turning to the girl next to him, Miles raised his eyebrow. Why hadn't he noticed he just sat next to her? Maybe it was his instinct to go sit next to her. Since there was a whole class of desk and he happened to sit at the one next to her.
"Well, Hello." He smirked at her. "Do I know you?"

Kiri blinked, confused. A pretty Gryffindor girl she didn't know waved at her, offering her to sit down at her table. She nodded mutely and slid into a chair, grateful to be able to get rid of her bag's weight. She cleared her throat nervously. "Thanks. Err, I'm Kiri. Hi Astrid." She glanced timidly at the other girl. "Hi Allie."

Then Kiri spotted Meredith. She gave her a little wave, inviting her to come over as well.

Vannie looked up as a girl came up to her. "Hey. Sure sit down," She motioned towards the seat beside her.


She hadn't heard Miles sit down next to her so when she heard his voic she was a little suprised. "Hello Miles," She smiled as she pulled out a piece of parchment and a quill out of her bag. "Good luck in the lesson," She added with a smile as she looked at the textbook and then back at the professor.

Only then Meredith noticed Raiden, the Slyhterin boy she'd at the opening feast. "Hey Raiden!" she said while she waved at him. She had no idea where she was going to sit..

Allie looked over at the Slytherin. She looked like she was in her first year.

"Well, it's very nice to see all of you!", Antonio said cheerfully. "I hadn't expected this large of a class, so it's a pleasant surprise. I think we can go ahead and get started now, if all of you are ready.

Let me explain how things work in my classroom. I will give 3 points to the first person who answers the question correctly and 1 point for each correct answer thereafter. Don't worry if the points aren't posted up right away, be assured that you WILL get credit for any correct answer in my class. For questions which aren't out of the textbook but based on creative thought, I will give points based accordingly (correctedness, creativity, etc.)

What we're going to be talking about today is how muggles defend themselves after which I will assign homework, but stick around because we're going to be discussing something else at the end, something just for wizards and witches personally that I think all of you will enjoy greatly.

So, let's begin. Does anyone know why it is good for muggles to know how to defend themselves, why they might need to know self defense? I appreciate your thoughts on this, there are really no wrong answers."

Clifford raised his hand and looked up from the textbook. This martial arts thing was fighting apparently. Eh. "So if someones being meaaaaan to you. You can just go all RAWWR and get 'em back?"

Vannie listened to the Professor and then raised her hand. "Would it be good so that if they ever need to defend there selves in a situation they may need to. And I believe that sometimes self defense of some kinds can be used in competitive areas."

Astrid raised her hand and said, "Muggles need to learn self defense because they are living in very troubled times."

Piper raised her hand and then spoke. "Because Muggles have no use of magic, and need self defense to protect themselves from getting hurt." She smiled and looked around nervously, hoping she had gotten the answer right.

Tees raised his hand, "Well they might get robbed or bullied to an extreme. If they need to protect their potentially threatened life, martial arts would suit them best."

Anna raised her hand to reply. "Muggles can't benefit from the use of magic the way we can. Their safety pretty much relies on their own precautions. Muggles need to know self-defense in order to be able to properly defend themselves when danger arises. They can use their defense strategies to stay safe if someone tries to attack them. There are also self-defense strategies they can use when dealing when dangers not caused by humans, such as forces of nature," she said.

After a few seconds of consideration, Evangeline rose her hand to answer. "Well, Sir, the Muggle world isn't a really safe place. At least some parts." Neither was the Wizards world, but hey. "Often, when people are walking on the street, they get attacked for the most different reasons, commonly for robbery. So knowing a bit about self defense is always useful."

Oh, this was bad. She was a Muggle herself, or had been anyway, but she stil couldn't think of a good answer. "Because they have to defend themselves sometimes from other people, just like wizards do?" she mumbled after she'd raised her hand.

Tia sat in class and listened to her fellow class mates answer

Jenn raised her hand. "Well it's good for them to learn it is because if danger comes they need to be prepared and ready for it. Something bad could happen to them any moment and if they aren't ready they won't be able to, well, servive it if it got bad. Defense is really important."Jenn concluded.

Miles looked at Vannie oddly, as she had seemed to not answer him, oh well, it was just a bit of fun, maybe she didn't understand. He nodded and smiled at her when she wished him good luck, he really needed it in this lesson.

Miles turned back to the professor and raised his hand slightly, no right or wrong answers. So he couldn't go wrong with this.
"Umm .. So you don't get hurt? Becuase if you're getting beaten up or something, you want to show that you're not afriad and defend yourself." He sort of mumbled, but it was clear anyhow.

Nancy listened to the Professor's explanation. Hmm...maybe this subject might actually be interesting. Raising her hand she said, "Well, because they can't do magic?" She wasn't quite sure if that was the answer Professor Dumont was looking for but at least it was worth a try.

Lucas raised his hand. "Well because you want to protect yourself and muggles can't use magic and potions and charms like we can. So they have to use their hands and things." He said proudly.

Allie raised her hand.
"Muggles need to learn defence, in case someone atacks them." said Allie."The Muggle world-like the wizard worl- has people that are dangerous, learning self-defence, is kinda like su learning DADA. It can help them defend themselves, and stop them from getting hurt. Thats why it is important to learn self-defence."

Elan, being new to the school just sat back and listened. He thought some of the answers were funny and struggled to contain his laughter.

Raiden held up a hand. "Uhm... Muggles can't do magic, so they sometimes resort to violence to solve problems... like we do dueling... but they hit each other." He thought for a second. "So they'd need to know how to protect themselves from violence, kinda like we need to know how to protect ourselves from spells."

"Excellent answers, all of those," Antonio said. "Because this wasn't a textbook answer I am going to give 2 points to each person who answered with a correct response. Now, I'd like to know who knows how muggles defend themselves? What are some of the things they can do, to learn to become more powerful and less vulnerable?"

Meredith realised this class wasn't going to be that easy as she thought it would be. People were comparing self defense in the muggle world with magical self defense and she couldn't do that, because she didn't really know anything about self defense in the magical world..
To her,it was simple why it was good to know how to defend yourself; it was just handy if anyone ever attacked you..
