Toshi Slughorn 10-10-2008 07:21 PM

Toshi entered the library.
This was one of his favourite places at Hogwarts.
Thousands of books to read, read by generations and generations of wizards and witches, some of the books were indeed very, very old.
He was searching a book about charms, so he strode over to the charms-section and took a book off the shelf which said on the cover, which showed a single white feather: "Charming Charms of the 16th Century".
It was very old and covered with dust.
He thought about the many different witches and wizards which must have been holding this book before. Maybe Harry Potter had been reading this very book. Or Albus Dumbledore himself. Or...

Lost in thought he sat down at a table and was suddenly filled with awe.

Cassie1011 10-10-2008 08:05 PM

Cassie walked into the Library, she loved the library, it was a good place to get away from other people and read. She didn't really like factual books, they got boring after a while. Her favorite (non-muggle book) was The Tales of Beedle the Bard. Cassie had read it a 5 times in a row, and it only took about 3 days. She normally read books quite fast.

Anna Banana 10-12-2008 03:44 AM

Anna made her way down the rows and rows of books. Ever since the end of last term, she'd had a little thought in the back of her head nagging away at her. She'd been amongst the group that had sent a letter off to the Minister of Magic telling him to reopen the school on account of there being some sort of hidden treasure hidden inside. He'd made good on his end of the deal, and now all that was left to do was hunt down this treasure. That is, if it even existed.

A...B........G..........N......................... .........Ahh, X! She'd read in a muggle novel once before that the letter X always marked the spot of a hidden treasure, so just in case, she wanted to check out the X section in the library. She ran her fingers along the edges of all the book, reading out all the titles that started with the letter X.

Thirty minutes later, when she'd seen no sign of any hidden treasure, she decided to give up for the day and come back later on in the week.

Toshi looked up from his book, as a Hufflepuff girl entered the library.
The picture of the Slytherins laughing at his mistake in potions from last year came to his mind again.
But this girl was a Hufflepuff and Hufflepuffs seemed to be very friendly people, so he smiled at her.

A few days later, Anna returned to search the bookshelves once again. She found herself going through somewhat of a routine by now. Start with A, end with...H. Yes, H this go round. She let her fingers wander along the rows of books until she came to the particular book she'd had in mind - "Hogwarts: A History." Okay, so yeah, who hasn't read this book over and over again? That wasn't the point, though. Perhaps there was something she'd missed the first time around. Maybe something that would at least point her in a better direction than the one that was currently leading her around and around in circles.

"Ah!" she quietly exclaimed, pulling the book from the shelves and immediately opening it. There had to be something lurking within these pages...

Allie walked along the library bookshelves, trying to find a book. She heard somone close by.
"Oh Hi, Anna!" she said. "Watcha readin?"

Will sighed as he finished the long walk from the common room into the library, his bag full near to bursting with books. He had so much studying to catch up on, and with his time being so taken up in detention he was beginning to feel a bit stressed.

What he needed was to just sit in a quiet place where he could focus, free from distraction, and study. He needed to get as much time in as he could because he'd promised to help that little firstie study his History of Magic, too... so there'd likely be no progress made on his own studies once the kid arrived.

Will found a dark corner of the library that looked peaceful (if a bit spiderwebby) and dropped his heavy bookbag on the wood table. He pulled out a chair to sit, when an ornate book caught his eye.

Letters of the Mark of the seal? He sat down, puzzled, as he began to peruse what he found. The clammy, dank library hadn't been kind to the pages, which looked old. Nevertheless, he read on, fascinated with what he found.

I have continued my association with the Order of the Fang, Slytherin House's proudest and most elite organization...' A Large collection of cash?' he read aloud, growing excited. Something about the Order of the Fang was memorable to him, too... then it hit him.

Clifford's letters last term. Could this book have something to do with the secret society Clifford had received letters from? Will read on, deep in concentration.

Anna looked over from her spot on the floor, where she'd been reading "Hogwarts: A History." She'd found nothing new inside it's lengthy pages, so she closed the book and gave up once again. That was when she noticed that another student, a fellow prefect, who appeared to be studying or up to something of the sort nearby.

Deciding that he may be able to help her, or at least give her a few pieces of advice, she made her way over to him, hoping he wouldn't be too upset with her interruption. "Hey," she greeted. "Bilium, right? What do you have there? You may be able to help me... I'm a little lost about something..."

Nicholai walked out from among the bookshelves and immediately spotted two people: Anna hunting among the books and Will huddled in a corner looking fairly... shifty.

He knew what Anna was doing, so he thought he'd go over and say Hi to Will. It had been a while after all.

Ghosting up to him and stopping silently Nicholai watched for a moment.

"Will." Nico sat down across from him, "Studying are we?"

Camira was so sick of looking for the correct book. Really. How hard was it to find a book on Chinese Astrology. Gah. She couldn't believe she let herself be conned into taking Divination. He would pay. Dearly.

She turned around the corner and sighed. Maybe in this row? Hmm... was that a person sitting all alone in the dark. Perhaps they were plotting something nefarious? She got a bit closer. She wanted to creep up on the person. She planned to walk over slowly, but all of a sudden, there was Nico. Did he just say Will?

"Will?" She hadn't meant to be so loud and goodness, her voice was not usually that high-pitched, but she hadn't seen him in ages. Okay, so it had been a week or two, but still. "What are you doing sitting in a corner like that, Jones?" She was grinning, but she was actually curious. He looked a bit conspicuous sitting there in the darkish dirty corner.

"How're you... Anna, isn't it? Lost about something, heh-- me too. Arithmancy, to be exact."

Well, wasn't he Mr. Popularity today? Will grinned-- he adored Camira. Always wanted to call her Cam, but had a feeling it'd get him hexed. "Hi, Camira!" he said. Goodness. There sure were a lot of people there. She'd seen Nico, but there was that Anna girl too. The one with the drama or something. Whatever.

She raised an eyebrow at him. Strange. Dark corners made her want to sleep. "Not too bad. I have been desperately bored though, seeing as my personal entertainer managed to disappear", she said, giving him a look. "I s'pose if he's very nice to me, I'll allow him to make it up to me."

"And what about you? I heard you landed yourself a detention. Guess that makes us twins, though yours was quite a bit longer than mine."

Very strange. Now the drama girl wanted him to help her find some book. And she was being quite... evasive about why she needed it. There was always some kind of drama in the school. She wasn't even sure why it surprised her anymore.

Sounds interesting... tell me more about it? What kind of great service? An Order-- what do you mean? And... what makes you think the answers lie in a book?" he looked at her, raising an eyebrow. "And where did you hear of such a thing, anyway? Sounds shweet."

She listened to the conversation between him and drama girl with thinly veiled interest. Will had asked her some good questions.

She snickered then. "Do I even want to know what you had to do for detention?"

Hmm. He looked...nervous all of a sudden. What was up with that. Did he maybe know what the girl was talking about? She would ask him later, when drama girl wasn't around. "Are you alright, Will", was all she said for now. Eyebrow once again raised, of course.

"Last school year, I worked alongside a few friends of mine uncovering bits and pieces of little clues that eventually led to us discovering that there may very well be a treasure hidden within the walls of this school. Supposedly, clues to the treasure lie within a book that can be found at this very school...in this library. The problem is, we never found out what the title of the book is, so we're stuck back at square one with no leads," Anna explained.

"Oh, and...we also had this bright idea to write the Minister of Magic a letter. We told him of this treasure, and we promised to find it for him if he would allow us to re-enter Hogwarts. Well, he's kept his half of the deal, and now we're trying to keep our half," Anna continued. "I'm just afraid if we don't come up with something soon, we're going to find ourselves in deep trouble."

Unless the treasure was worth more than just monetary value... Perhaps a magically powerful item... or ...ooh, like the Elder Wand in the stories... Will kept his face calm, even dubious, but inside he was starting to get excited. He pulled his bag onto his lap casually, lest anything come between him and that treasure.

It's mine, you understand, mine mine mine! DOWN DOWN DOWN BACK BACK BACK MINE MINE MINE! There's only enough for meee!* his inner miser screamed as he held his bookbag a leeeetle tighter, being careful not to draw attention to it of course.

"Yes, the minister," Anna said, taking a seat right next to him. To say that he looked cynical would be an understatement. Then again, she assumed her story about the hidden treasure was enough to blow his mind. It would probably throw her for a loop or two, come to think about it. Still, Will was hiding something, and Anna was determined to find out what that was.

"Will," Anna stated, edging a little closer to him. "We have reason to think that the Minister may shut down the school again if he finds out this was only a trap to get him to let us back in. No one wants to go back to the horrible conditions Belle's and Cooper's had to offer. You would tell us if you knew something...right? You wouldn't allow us to all be forced back into that horrible school...right?"

Amira With a C 10-15-2008 04:54 AM

Will, Nico, and Anna

What?! There was a treasure? Inside this very school? Oh, it was on. A Nico knew about it too? Where had she been? Oh, right. At home.

So, a book that held clues on how to find a secret treasure? Godness, drama girl was dumb. Why would she willingly give out that information to people. Oh well. It was to her benefit, after all. She was going to find that treasure, if it indeed existed.

An epic detention. Lovely. And with who? And the person was insane? She couldn't wait to hear about it in the common room.

And she turned back to drama girl. She had reason to believe Will had information. Well, she wasn't going to get it. If he even had it, that is.

"Of course he would tell you", she answered for Will. She hoped that came across to him as, "If you know something, don't tell."

Will looked offended. "Of course I would." he said with absolute conviction. " Nobody wants to go back to the segregated, armorless schools... least of all me."

Which was not to say that Will was about to hand over some great and fabulous treasure to some Gryffindor guuuuurl, of course.

" I'm just surprised about this whole thing, it sounds... fishy. I remember one of the students mentioning something about an order last term, but frankly I thought it was someone having a lark and we just kind of... shrugged it off. Tell me what you know about it?"

"Of course he would tell you", she answered for Will. She hoped that came across to him as, "If you know something, don't tell."

Will smiled at Camira and nodded, grateful that he had her back. Of course, she was a Slytherin too-- she was probably just as unlikely to want to give The Great And Amazing Treasure to the Gryffs as he was.

Seymour stumbled into the library, dragging his bookbag along with him. He had a lot of studying to do; he had been going to do it all in the courtyard, but had then met Rapunzel. He skidded to a halt, however, when he entered the library and got a good look around-- it was huge. Clearly not entirely sure what to do, he glanced behind him to make sure Rapunzel was still behind him and then started forward, wandering aimlessly through the bookshelves. It reminded him greatly of another certain library... Seymour only hoped the Vashta Nerada weren't hiding close by. That's all he needed... a second shadow.

He was picking up yet another old, leatherbound, beautiful book when he heard a familiar voice. He wandered a few more bookshelves back and spotted who he was searching for-- Prefect Billium Q. Jones. He waved silently, giving Will a great, big grin, and started forward.

"Sire!" he whispered happily, waving again. "Hello, sire! I hope you're well?" He glanced behind him again, checking for both Rapunzel (who was, thankfully, there) and any suddenly appearing shadows (which thankfully, were not).

Will waved over the boy and... Oooh, it was the Golden Girl who played quidditch. Gulp.

"Hey Seymour... and... m'lady..." he nodded, his ears reddening embarrassingly. "I'm good, thanks! Anna and Nico here were just about to tell us a story of a Quest... a quest for treasure. Pull up a chair, they're going to tell us all about it!" Hopefully, anyway. Story time! Still clutching his bookbag on his lap, Will sat back a little and looked at Nico and Anna expectantly.

My favorite Slythiesssss! <3

Yeah, Seymour was right about one thing - libraries were not just for educational purposes. They were also the perfect location for ASSAULT by pointy edges!!!1!

"Ohhhhkay, here we are," Rapunzel muttered, following Seymour through the winding bookshelfs. No! Not these shelves again! She gulped and tried to stick with him - after all, if he was a Knight he could pprotect her from the books, right?

Right.

"Oh. HEY!" Punz exclaimed happily as they turned a corner and happened upon the Slytherin Prefect. "Mr. Whistling Muffin Man, right?" She grinned; suddenly, the bookshelves didn't seem so foreboding. Not with all these nice boys around. Punz accepted his offer and took a seat right beside him.

"Treasure, I love treasure," Punz giggled a little. "As long as it's shiny."

Muffin Man. So she.. remembered him? He flushed deeply and gave her a small nod. "Will Jones. It's a pleasure."[/b] he mumbled, embarrassed but pleased.
