Freya made her way into the classroom, after having just come from the lake shore. Taking a seat at one of the tables she noticed professor Carracio by the doorway, 'Still looks pretty miserable.' "Hello, Sir." Freya said as she placed her bag next to her, "I hope you are feeling better." 'Well, better than when I last saw him at least.'

Camira walked into the classroom and immediately noticed the practically dead plants. She walked over to them and frowned. Plants were resilient, but so fragile at the very same time. Like humans. She wondered if plants were the same in other areas. If they recovered from whatever had brought them to this state , was there still a piece of them they could never get back? Did plants die sometimes for no other reason than that they'd lost the will to live? She'd have to ask Professor Carracio sometime.

"Hello Professor", she said quietly, still thinking of the plants. She forced herself to go take a seat. Were they going to be trying to save these plants today?

Herbology. So not her best class.
Mariel was surprised to see that she was one of the first students to arrive as she made her way into the classroom. Taking a seat in the middle of the room, her eyes darted around the room as she casually said, "Hello professor." Something was a little off. The classroom seemed darker and, while she didn't know Professor Carracio well, she seemed to think there was something strange about him today too. Or was she just being suspicious again? Either way she sat back waiting for class to begin.

Vanessa wandered into the class, glancing at the plants automatically. They seemed a little lifeless, and a little wierd. "Hello Professor," She nodded as she took a seat in the middle of the desks, and waited for the lesson to begin.

Astrid made her way to the Herbology classroom and found a seat near the front. She smiled at the professor and said, "Good to see you again, sir. How are you today?"

Theo made his little way into the classroom. He pulled on his rucksack straps. He found his way to the front row, and clambered up onto a stool. He wouldn't be able to see from the back. He looked forward to this class. Eventhough the Professor talked about people going away.

Nicholai entered the classroom and nodded respectfully at the Professor before chosing a seat next to Camira. He offered a quick smile in acknowledgement to Astrid as he looked around at the sick looking plants.

Miles walked in, a little alarmed at what he saw. He raised his eyebrow at the nearly dead plants. Weren't greenhouses meant to look after plants and stuff?

Meh.

Miles shrugged, knowing that the professor may have something planned, or was neglecting his beloved plants. He sat down, at a desk close to the back.

He greeted each of the students as they walked in.

He took a glance outside then shut the door, closing the greenhouse off to all natural light. Once that was done he pulled back his hood and shook out his hair. It was better tied up, but harder to manage with the hood, strangely enough. He ran his hands through it once before turning his attention to the class. "I do apologize for the gloomy atmosphere, however I am under healer's orders to avoid sunlight for a short time."

"Now, young ones, onto the plants. Can someone gauge for us what this class will be about?"

Theo raised his little hand, "Will we be fixing dem Sir? Making dem all better. Cos dey look very poorly sick sick."

Maddox winked when astrid took her seat next to him. She was his herbology partner, and good friend. "Nice to see you Astrid." He whispered and smiled.





Maddox raised his hand and said, "Either we are going to try and save these plants or we are going to turn them into compost." He wasnt quiet sure but that was the only explaination he could ocme up with.

Camira raised her hand, a bit unsure, but deciding to take a guess anyway. "Eh...it looks like it will be about rehabilitating sickly plants...and maybe learning that you can't save everything..." Okay, she doubted it was the last part, but whatever.

Vanessa thought for a few minutes about the question before raising her hand. "Will we be looking at the consequences of not looking after plants and how they can sometimes be restored to full health?"

Jose raised his hand "either we will be trying to save these plant or we will be turning them into composs, I have we are going to try and save them."

"Thanks partner!" she whispered as she winked back. It just wouldn't be Herbology without Maddox, she thought with a smile.

Astrid smiled back at Nico, glad to see him. It seemed like ages since she had last time. She gave the professor a sympathetic smile back and raised her hand, "Professor, will be learning how to nurse sickly plants back to health?"

Miles raised his hand, quite unsurely. "Uuuuh. Well, trying to bring those plants back to life?" He gestured his finger to the poor, half dead plants.

Dominic had surprisingly quite enjoyed the first Herbology lesson, so here he was in the greenhouse for lesson two. Besides, Carracio was one of the few male professors, so support was necessary for the minority. Listening as students offered ideas for what they'd be doing today, Dominic hesitated a moment before raising his hand. "Professor? We'll be looking at last attempts to save the plants we transplanted last time, won't we?"

"Yes, some of them. Regardless of how choosy you are in transplanting, sometimes very healthy plants simply do not make the cut." He looked them over before continuing. "Today is going to be a little less hands-on than my usual classes. Today we will be recognizing when plants are salvageable, when they are not, and what to do with them. In all of this, we will also be learning to recognize a plant's last attempts at living, and what they may do in order to try and save themselves."

He paused a moment, letting this sink in. "To start, roses are one of the most common plants. Hardy, and can be fairly resistant to pests and disease, depending on the breed. Does anyone currently know what a rose bush might do in order to survive?"

A little less hands-on? Sweet! Herbology really wasn't bad at all... Mentally celebrating over what was sure to be an interesting lesson, Dominic listened as Carracio continued the start of the lesson. Sighing quietly, the fourth year thought about roses and what they might do and then remembered one of their features. "Roses have thorns, right? So wouldn't those thorns act as protection for the plant against anything attacking it?"

"It will stick you wiv it's forns," Theo said, his little hand wiggling in the air. "If you try to pick it, it stabs you."

Oooh. At least she'd been kind of right.

She raised her hand. "Don't rose bushes drop off the unsalvageable parts? It encourages growth, right? That's why people prune them. They're helping the plant with what it already does naturally..."

"It will, however you are not thinking the right way. We are assuming the rose is not getting enough of something. Sunlight, water, or nutrition. What will the rose actively do?"

He nodded in response. "That is true. A rose will even stop blooming while still budding, and kill off the buds in order to conserve energy. Two points." He looked around, waiting to see if there would be other answers.

"Doesn't the Rose bush grow upwards, the flowers it produces towards the top. Which would mean that they would be able to collect the most avaliable light?" Vannie spoke, sounding a little unsure as she raised her hand.

"Will its little leaves fall off, so it has less layers to keep it warm?" Theo asked. He didn't really know about plants. But it he took his clothes off it would make him colder. Maybe plants did the same thing.
