"So wats everybody doing around here?" Chris said with that smile

Cale nodded. "Yeah, that's all. Thanks for clearing that up," he said with a small smile. He had a feeling when he had gone up to the table that Caleum had wanted to show off in front of someone, so he was probably anxious to get back to the table. "See you around Professor Myers."

"Well I'm just now meeting everyone and already having a hard time remembering names."Hayden shrugged. That was just so typical Hayden shrugging at the idea of meeting people.

Chris laughed "thats cool."

Again Hayden shrugged. She really had nothing to say.

"Okay then," Anna replied. "Thanks once again, sir. I'll see you in class!" Anna watched as the professor headed out of sight, keeping her eyes on him as a distraction as long as possible. Too bad Paul Kutcher had to be a Gryffindor.

"Well," Anna said, bringing her attention back to the table. "So Paul Kutcher was neither. He was a Gryffindor. We were both wrong. So, erm...yeah." Wow. Things were awkward now. Hmm..what to say?

Cale watched as Caleum walked away before turning and glaring at Anna. "Wait, what was that? Did I just hear you admit you were wrong?" he asked, probably a bit nastier than he needed to. But he was still angry at her for getting to angry over something so stupid. He didn't see what was so hard for her to back down from. He just crossed his arms and wrinkled his eyebrows. Meh. Today was NOT a good day.

Nathaniel couldn't help but think the Opening Feast was taking forever. He could feel his pygmy puffs jumping around in the pocket of his robe. He picked up some crumbs and dropped them into his pocket.

Hayden looked around and spotted someone putting crubms in his pocket. What had caught her attentio though was he looked just about how she felt. Like the feast was never going to end."If you guys would excuse me for a few minuets." She walked over to a seat near him and sat down."Hello I'm Hayden. Whats your name." Drat there I go again. That right there explained why she was shy. She never knew exactly what to say.

Anna sat back up and glared at Cale once again. How could he? Could he not just drop this and let it die? Oh, of course not. What else were egomaniacs good for if not situations just like this? Ugh. "Nice, Cale. Really nice," Anna sarcastically replied, rolling her eyes. "Just when we'd both shut ourselves up, you have to continue this little arguement by making a comment like that. You know what? That's typical. It's so typical of you to be such an egomaniac that you can't even let something like this die down. Whatever, Cale."

Nathaniel jerked his hand out of his pocket and looked at the girl. "Hello. I'm Nathaniel.. but most people call me Nate." he said with a smile. "You're a first year..right?" he added as he felt the puffs jumping around

Hayden smiled,"Yeah I'm a first year." It was hard to tell by his size if he was though."Are you a first year because you look pretty tall."

"Egomaniac? Well, at least I'm not stubborn and bossy and unable to back down during a fight cause you're SOOOOO certain that you're right, when it turns out that BOTH of us were wrong. I'm so sick of your inability to ever admit your wrong or to ever let stupid little things go!" he exclaimed. "Do you realize this WHOLE thing could have been settled if you had just said 'Oh, no worries, it doesn't matter what house he was in?' but nooooooo you just HAD to keep going!" he snapped, hands waving about wildly.

Maggie was just watching Hayden getting to know everybody and smiled. She was so glad for the day she met Via in the Leaky Cauldron, cos somehow continued with that introducing to other people, cos she knew they felt the same way she did in Leaky Cauldron, lonely, knowing nobody.

"Oh, Hi Chris!"she said hapilly as Chris went back to their seats. "Where have you been?"she asked, smiling at him.

She saw Nate sitting near to them, "Hey Nate! How are you? Why dont you join us?"she quickly counted themselves, "we are just nine,"she smiled. Nate looked really tired, so did Maggie. Even she didnt see her dormitory yet, she was looking forward.

She looked at the group of older students"Hello, may I ask you?"she said to them. "How are the beds? Are they ok?"she asked. She smiled, hoping that they will not just look at her like she is small silly firstie.

"Yes, E-GO-MAN-I-AC," Anna said, getting inches from his face and drawing out each syllable of the word. "You know what, Cale? I did back down from this fight. When Professor Myers left, I was mad, sure; and was I ready to talk to you politely again and pretend as if nothing happened? No. I wasn't going to start up an arguement again, though. No, I was planning on staying silent until I could let this stupid arguement pass, and then I was going to attempt to make up with you, though. That wasn't good enough for you, though, was it? Oh, and listen to you now? I can't admit when I'm wrong? What's the first thing I said as soon as Professor Myers left? Correct me if I'm wrong, Cale, but wasn't it something along the lines of, "Well, I guess we were both wrong." Oh, but no. I can't admit I'm wrong, can I, Cale?"

"Egomaniac...," she muttered again, just to seal the deal.

"Heh.. yea.. I'm a first year. I know.. I'm a big guy for my age." he said with a smile

"Thats okay. Beats being short. I'd give anything to be tall and I have a lot to give but you know what, I gotta live with what I got." Hayden smiled. She hadn't said that in awhile.

Cale just rolled his eyes. "What, you think if we just don't talk about it that will make it better? We're always arguing, Anna! And it's about stupid stuff like THIS!" he cried, pointing at the name inscribed on the table. "You're constantly accusing me of being an egomaniac and you're always bossing me around or never admitting when you're wrong. This was just the cherry on top of a whole bunch of arguments!"

He snorted and pushed his hair out off of his forehead. "Oh, you admitted it ONCE, way to go!" he said sarcastically, giving her a thumbs up to add salt to the wound.

"Im great Maggie." chris said happily seeing his friend again. "wat u been up to?"

"Nothing special,you know,"she replied, still smile on her face. "Just eating throught the table,"she laughed. "What happened you vanished so quickly?"she asked, offering some broccoli to Chris.

"What is wrong with you, Cale?" Anna exclaimed. "I'm trying to tell you that I want this arguement to end! Does it really matter whether I did something once, twice, or a million times? I'm admitting I was wrong right here, right now. So you're going to continue this just because I didn't do that in the past?" Anna threw her hands up into the air and then put her head down on the table. This was all just too much. Why couldn't things be like they were last year? They were always so excited to see each other and nothing in this world could pull them apart. Now, it seemed that anything and everything was pulling them in separate directions.

"The cherry on the top?" Anna asked. "What's that supposed to mean? I mean, I know the phrase means, but what does it mean for us?"

"Don't you get it?" Cale exclaimed, running a hand through his curly hair. "We have PROBLEMS Anna and we're not making any progress. We're just arguing and arguing and arguing and never getting anywhere, we just end up ticked off at each other and we just say "Oh, we can forget this didn't happen and move past it"...well, you know what? That's NOT working, because everytime we do that, the arguments just get worse and worse until we're sitting here, screaming at each other over what house some dude we don't even know was in like, 20 years ago!"

Anna's expression suddenly changed from an annoyed, angry one to one of pure fear. She stared at him with wide eyes, and suddenly a lump formed in her throat. Was this it? Was she losing him? Anna fidgeted in her seat for a minute before looking up at him once again.

"Oh," she mumbled. "I see." This was it. Anna looked down towards the table and stared at it for a good two or three minutes before making up her mind what she wanted to. What was that famous quote she always heard her mother say? Ah, yes...

This was going to hurt...a lot. Anna was a fighter, though, and no way would she let Cale or anyone else know how bad this was hurting her. "You know what, then? Since I'm such a problem to you, I'll just go ahead and do the both of us a favor. I'm breaking up with you, Cale Newell. Goodbye. See you later. Have a nice life. Good luck. Good riddance, whatever your phrase of choice is. We've over," she stated, looking him dead in the eye so he'd know she was serious.

"So, you're a free man. Go. Byeeee. I'm sure you have an army of admirers awaiting their prince," Anna said.

Cale's mouth dropped open in shock. She was breaking up with him? But that wasn't how it was supposed to go! They were supposed to talk about this! But...she obviously didn't want to talk about it, it seemed. Oh noes. That feeling was back. He hadn't felt it in his chest since the day he had broken up with Cora. It was that stabbing, painful ache in his chest and it was ten times worse than before and he doubted it was going away this time.

"But...you can't break up with me! I'm...we're...cause...I'm breaking up with you!" he exclaimed, glaring at her. She probably had no idea how much she was hurting him right now. No. Idea.

Good riddance? Now she was just being downright mean. His mouth worked wordlessly for a minute before he finally found something to say. "Fine, I'll go. I don't need you anyways! I'll run off to my 'admirers'" he said sarcastically, using air quotes, "And you can run off and snog Nico and Seth, since they're both just as stubborn as YOU."

And with that, he turned and walked away to the end of the table where he could finish his meal without talking to anyone he knew. Because right now, it just hurt too much.

Piper's eyes went wide as she watched the drama going on at the Gryffindor table. She had retreated from all conversations and now she was glad she had. She bit her lower lip and wished she knew some comforting words to say. However she didn't and so she stayed quiet and wished she could sink into the floor.
