A broom rack is sitting in the shade near the entrance to the Quidditch Pitch. Next to it is a large blackboard with the following message written in bright red:

Select a school broom and
line up on the edge of the Pitch.

Do not mount your broom until instructed to do so.

Dominic walked out onto the quidditch pitch, quite nervously since he would be out here again very soon thereafter. Only this time it was a lot less stressful as it were just the flying final practical. Noting the sign and other instructions, the fourth year picked up a school broom and walked over to line up and wait for further instructions.

Flying. How hard could this be?

Ryan walked up to the quidditch pitch. It was a very familiar setting, and he relished in the opportunity to once again be near the pitch.

As he appreciated the setting for everything that it was, he noticed and read the sign. He turned to look at the rack of brooms, carefully inspecting each one (but only by looking). After perusing each one carefully, he selected the broom he thought would suit him best.

Following the directions, he walked over to the end of the pitch and stood there waiting for further instructions. Oh, how he wanted to fly.

Hah. This was going to be a piece of cake. A flying class final? Pfft, he'd breeze through this with no problems - probably have some fun too. Teehee. Clifford walked confidently up to the broom rack and carefully selected himself a decent looking broomstick. The school brooms always looked pretty run down - but he was sure to pick one that at least had straight-looking tail twigs. He'd fly a ton better on his own broom, but hey.

Broom selected, Clifford lined up on the edge of the pitch as the message on the blackboard instructed.

Anna headed out to the Quidditch pitch, ready and anxious to begin her Flying final. She'd been ready to get these final exams over with for quite some time now! Noting the sign and instructions, Anna headed over to get a school broom. Once she'd chosen one, she joined the lineup at the edge of the Pitch.

Chris grabbed a broom and went and joined the line of students waiting on the pitch.

Nicholai stood aside as other students made their broom choices and when it was his turn he only took a cursory glance before selecting one. He doubted that the professor would have provided any inferior brooms; particularly in the interest of fairness. Though he did attempt to select the cleanest of them and quickly noted that though well-used, it was obviously well cared for and the tail twigs had been recently trimmed.

He took his place on the edge of the pitch, not yet mounting the broom and waited for further instructions.

Whitney quickly walked to the front and grabbed a broom. As she walked back she kept her head down and stood at the end of the line; this happened to be next to Nico.

Allie walked out to the pitch and grabbed a broom. Then went to joing the line of students.

Suddenly, twenty hoops of various sizes appeared on the Pitch. They were floating in the air and were scattered about.

Then Professor Vindictus's voice was heard echoing loudly, but no one could see where he was sitting. "Welcome to the Flying Class Final. Your skill in the air will be tested today with various tasks. The first one has appeared before you." He was silent for a moment and then continued. "You must fly through these hoops without falling from your broom or pushing anyone off theirs. All I can say is that looks can be deceiving. Please walk with your brooms to the designated starting area beneath the goal hoops located at the east end of the stadium. When you arrive at the line, mount your broom but do not take off or put a single toe or broomstick handle past the start line. Chop, chop! Start moving!"

Nico shrugged and immediately began walking to the designated starting area. He mounted his broom careful not to go over the start line in the slightest since he figured even a millimetre would be grounds for getting pulled up over it. Once he had followed the instructions he waited again to be told when to start. He examined the hoops and wondered what the professor had done to make the task harder since obviously there would be something.

Ryan made haste toward the starting point of the hoops flying test thingy. He made sure to stand a little way behind the line so his broom wouldn't pass it. As soon as he reached his destination, he mounted his broom and continued waiting.

Was that Professor Vindictus talking? Clifford glanced around but couldn't see the bloke anywhere ... ah well. Turning back to the hoops that had appeared on the pitch, the fifth year concentrated on the instructions they were being set.

Okay, now that sounded easy peasy. Walking up to the designated starting area, sure not to set a toe over the start line, Clifford swung one leg over his broomstick, mounting it easily and waiting for instructions to kick off.

Allie walked to the starting area that the Professor pointed out, and mounted her broom. Then looked back at the Professor, and waited for more instructions.

Anna jumped back a bit as a number of hoops appeared around the pitch. She then listened as the booming voice of Professor Vindictus sounded throughout the pitch. The Flying final seemed a bit tougher than she'd thought it would be. Nevertheless, she'd try her hardest and eventually fly through all those hoops. Nodding, Anna walked with her broomstick to the area beneath the goal hoops and then mounted her broom. She waited patiently for the signal to begin.

Chris picked up his broom and walked over to the side of the pitch he indicated and swung his leg over it and waitde for the que to start.

Miranda grabbed her broom firmly in her hand and started to walk towards the starting area. She was nervous. Sure, flying wansnt that difficult, but Professor Vindictus did frighten her a bit. And with the championship nearing, she was even more nervous to make a fool of herself on the one thing she felt pretty confident about.

Arriving at the line, she mounted her broom. Miranda took a deep breath and waited for the professors instructions.

As the professor finished speaking, Whitney immediately walked to the designated area, mounted her broom and scooted back a bit so she wouldn't be over the line. She normally did well at flying. Now all she had to do was wait.

After lining up by the other students, Becca grasped the wooden handle of the school broom nervously. She had only been on a broom a few times in her life, but she was sure she could handle this no problem - she hoped.

As Vindictus's voice echoed throughout the stadium, Becca looked around, a puzzled expression on her face. Where was the stunning man? Regardless, she followed the directions and approached the starting area on foot. She gently kicked her leg over the broomstick and stayed on the ground, making sure nothing passed the starting line. Easy enough so far. Once they got in the air momentarily, she wasn't sure how well things would go. She was very petite and light, but... looks could be deceiving? Those hoops were probably smaller than they looked.

The next thing Dominic heard Professor's voice and blinked around searching for the person who went with the voice. Oh nevermind. Fly through the hoops without falling over? Meh, that wouldn't be challenging at all. He was a seeker after all ... so how hard could flying through hoops be when he could catch a snitch in a snowstorm? Walking with his broom towards the designated start line, he mounted it and waited for the Professor to give them the 'go'.

Rapunzel hurried to the flying start line, carrying her broom with her. When she arrived, she lined up straight and mounted her broom, just perched there to wait for the next instructions.

"Ready! Set . . . go!" The familiar whistle was heard and Professor Vindictus leaned back in his comfortable chair that he had set up in the Stands. This was going to be priceless.....


TASK 1 - Flying Through Obstacles
Worth up to 10 points

*You're flying through hoops that move as you approach them (up, down, side-to-side). Some hoops even move when you're flying through them. The hoops grow and constrict, too. Be creative as you try to fly through them.

*Trick hoops will appear. Respond to the challenge.

*Creativity is a plus.

*The object is to pass through each hoop twice without falling to the ground.

As soon as she heard the signal whistle, Rapunzel kicked off from the ground and started zooming towards the first hoop. Aah, it felt good to have the wind in her hair just before the big Quidditch match. And besides, how hard could it be to fly through a few hoops? Pssh, she'd done this before.

She zoomed towards the first hoop and noticed right away that it was kinda....bouncing around in the air. Mmmkaaay, Punz thought, not sure if her eyes were deceiving her. Regardless, she adjusted her broom for the hoop and zipped through it without trouble, well on her way to the second hoop.

Chris kicked off hard on his broom as the whistle blew. He shot towards the first hoop and zoomed threw it easily and headed for the next one
