Demetria walked in. "Hello professor." she gave a little smile and a wave. "Lizzie! Hey!" she walked over to Lizzie and sat down. "Is this seat taken?" she asked.

Caleum gave a nod to all the students that made their way into the classroom. This was going to probably be the biggest class he had taught and his nerves were slightly on the edge. He cleared his throat and saw a few of the students that he recognized.

"First thing is first," he began with a smile. "I want you all to pair up with a partner as we are going to hopefully have a bit of fun in this class today." He remembered that in school he was always excited to learn and casts new spells.

'You're stoked about a lot of things, I've found.' She giggled lightly, before running an eye over the board. Okay, so maybe it was definitely one of the muggle things she'd never experienced before. 'It's a nice once,' she said, hoping to bluff her way out of her inexperience. She didn't feel the need to add this was the first one she'd seen.

She turned to Nate after the teacher professor (she really needed to start calling them professors) told them to pair up. 'Can I be with you?' she asked.

Cale gave a little wave to the Slytherin boy Hugo that he had seen in the bathroom that one time and grinned. Apparently his little shove into Seth had made an impression for Hugo to still remember him.

He looked up as the Professor said they needed partners. Hmmm, now who would he choose? Like there was really a choice? He walked up to Anna and grinned. "Partners?" he asked.

Dominic blinked as Mr Myers told them to pair up in partners. Oh for Merlin's sake; he wasn't supposed make them do THAT! Sighing quietly, his eyes wandered around the room in search for the ideal partner. Mystery girl was a possibility, but she would probably pair up with that gryffindor girl next to her...

"Sure! Lets be partners!" he said with a smile

Lizzie looked up as she heard Demetria's voice. Hi Dexter! she said with a smirk. Well you may join me here on the floor if you want to. she said, still smiling. I think we're about to do real magic that requiers space, and that's why there aren't any desks. You wanna be partners?

Hmm...partners. Anna turned around and around, still looking for someone she knew. Finally, her eyes found Cale, standing in the place he usually sat when there were desks in the room. She should have known to look for him standing right there in the first place! It was the fact that no desks were in the room that threw her off. She smiled and made a beeline right over to him. She opened her mouth to ask him if he'd like to be her partner, but he beat her to it. "Yup, you know it," Anna replied, flashing him a smile.

Tucking her hair behind her ears, Vanessa listened to the Professor. They needed to partner up? That sounded intersting. She looked around the classroom, for someone she knew. She eyes landed on Hugo, bonding time? She approached him cautiously before speaking. "Erm Hugo. Wanna be partners?"

Woooo! Nancy was already sooo excited. She had to work hard to keep herself from jumping up and down. Okay, they needed to pair up...hmm...anyone she knew? Scanning the room she spotted a few familiar faces but most of them had already paired up. Gripping her wand firmly she waited for someone to show up that would be her partner for this lesson. Maybe Camira was going to show up?

With the professor's announcement of partners, Astrid smirked at Maddox and said, "You were saying?" Then she laughed and asked, "You sure you don't mind?"

Rachel looked up when the professor began talking, snapping out of her reverie. Oh no! Partners??? I don't know anyone here though! she thought to herself as she looked around the room helplessly.

Laylee looked around, a frown on her face. Partners. She never liked the sound of partners. Her friends werent in any of her classes and she always ended up with a strange stranger. She hoped some normal witch or wizard would just approach her and there wouldnt have to be a problem.
She sighed as a lot of people already seemed paired up. Crud.

"Ofcourse." she said. The classroom was so big and there were so many students. "Wow everyone is so spread out. What do you think we're gonna learn?" she asked Lizzie.

Maddox grinned and ruffled astrids hair, "Of course i dont mind. Partner! Arent i always?" He chuckled and then fixed her hair, again, with the flick of his wrist.

Hugo bent over to tie his shoelace and then stood back up again and...bumped straight into Vannie. Who wanted to be partners. He thought about maknig a dash for Cale, considered tackling Willow and insisting she be his partener and then...

"Er. Yeah I...guess." He murmured, coughing.

Elizabeth walked into class and looked around, a bit confused. Okay. This should be fun, she thought as she made her way over to the side of the room to place her schoolbag down. Slipping her wand out of it before standing back up, she slid it into her pocket, figuring she probably was going to need it.

Moving more toward the center of the room, she glanced around at the other students. It didn't appear any of the people she had really talked to before were here yet. Except for Cale and Anna, and she still wasn't sure what they thought of her. So she awkwardly stood, waiting for class to start or someone to show up for her to talk to.

And then the professor spoke up, saying they needed to choose partners. She panicked momentarliy, looking around desperately for someone else who looked like they needed a partner.

Alexis gazed around the classroom. Most of the people that she knew where already paired up. Turning to Willow Alexis grinned and brushed a blonde strain away from her eyes. "Wanna be my partner?" She asked hopefully. Willow was kind of ...serious what if she said no?

Lizzie smiled thoughtfully. Well I suppose spells to defend ourselves.. But who knows? She looked around, excited. You reckon any other first year gryffies will come? Haven't seen them in a while.. she said quietly, almost to herself. She then turned back to Demetria. So, do you think you'll be good at DADA?

She smiled back at him. 'Great!' Well, at least she wasn't partnered up with someone she didn't know, or someone who she'd only just met. That would be her personal nightmare in a DADA lesson. She turned back to listen to the professor, awaiting further instructions.

Caleum noticed there were still a couple of people who didn't have partners. "Don't be afraid to ask those you don't know, that is how you learn new faces," he said and then held up his hand to quiet the class down. "I also need you all to be quiet as we work in partners or I will start taking points away. I want you all to focus in on what we are going to do today.

"First thing is first," he began as he looked to the class. "What we are going to learn today are three spells to help in blocking other spells or to currently operating spells. I have been secretly watching everyone in the duel arena the past couple of weeks and it is interesting to see what some of you already know but these will be a few spells to learn defense."

He looked around at the class hoping that the last couple of people who didn't have partners would pair up as well. "Let's start with the easiest, what is Expelliarmus?"

"I haven't seen anymore first year gryffies either, but they might come later." she scanned the room. "I don't know if I'm any good. Never tried any defense spells. Do you think you'll be good?" she asked. Demetria had a feeling DADA wouldn't be her best subject, but she's never tried.

Partners. Uh. Great. This was beginning to sound like Care of Magical Creatures. Though Defense Against the Dark Arts was a subject that did not cost her as Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures did, the girl still didn't feel so confident of practicing spells in front of a bunch of people. But then, it wasn't like she had any idea what they were going to do.

Looking around, her eyes started to examine the people inside the classroom. Hmm. Hugo was there, as well--but he was already partnering up with a Hufflepuff girl. And there was also Weird Hufflepuff boy that just like her, was partner less. Huh. Well, she was not about to be partners--it just wasn't her thing to approach people.

Snapping back to reality, Willow looked up to Alexis again before nodding her head at her. "Sure, why not?" The girl was obvious older, so maaaaybe she would be able to learn a few things about her.

... Or not.

'Expelliarmus is the disarming spell. Cast it at your opponent and, should it be cast right, their wand will hopefully go flying out of their hand in some way or another.' Mina kept her eyes firmly on the professor as she spoke in answer to his question.

"Expelliarmus is a disarming spell." Maddox raised his hand.
