He looked at her. "Oh ok." he finally said with a smile. "I'm Lucas, Lucas Greenwood." he said introducing himself. "Yes practicing is always nice with new spells and stuff." he told her.

Emily was fairly shy, so she wasn't excited about what she was going to do. She mustered all her available confidence and walked up to a dueling pair. "Excuse me, I don't seem to have a partner. May I please join you two?" she asked in her nicest voice.

Astrid watched carefully as Maddox demonstrated. "Ok, ready?" she asked. She lifted her wand again, flicking it just like he showed her and said, "Expelliramus!" This time Maddox's wand flipped out of his hand and landed a few feet away. Astrid gave him the biggest smile EVER and said, "Oh My God! I did it!" she said, obviously proud of herself. "You're turn."

Mina couldn't help it; she had to laugh. 'I'm not mad, Nate, I'm teasing. I've been brought up with a very good actress for a mother so I can carry on a charade. Trust me.' She grinned as she took her wand back.

'Nice to meet you, Lucas.' She smiled warmly at him as she took a step away. 'D'you want to give it a go then?' Well, at least this boy was closer to her own, tiny height than Nate. Maybe his wouldn't pack such a wallop if he was good at it. Not that she was mad at Nate still.

Maddox smiled as his wand went flying. He walked over and picked it up. "Great Job astrid. Now watch me." He smirked, and composed himself. "Expelliramus!" Astrids wand went flying out of her hand towards maddox and he caught it with out flinching. He grinned and said, "How did i do?"

Lizzie smiled guilty. I'm really sorry Jenn. Didn't mean to scare you. She looked at Kairi with an amused smile. Well you can try it on me if you want to.

Though the beam that stretched across her peach lips belonged to the fact that she was rather pleased with herself, the girl could not help but to jump a little at Alexis enthusiasm and cheering. Where did she think they were? The Quidditch Pitch? "Thank you," was all her reply.

Overly hyperactive Gryffindor. That was for sure.

"Your turne now," Willow instructed.

"Well now I just feel like a complete jerk!" he said with a look on his face. Wow that was good but he still felt bad.

Seeing his sister didn't have a partner yet, Nicholai grabbed her by the hand and led her to a spot where there was a little bit of space.

"Twerp, you can go first." Nico offered, spinning his wand casually before taking a loose grip on it and offering Cela a smile.

Another class that required a partner. At least this one made sense since people would have to practice on each other, but it didn't make her like it any more.
Looking around, Mariel noticed everyone pairing up or if they didn't have a partner, they joined a group. Then she saw Lucas on the other side of the room and it seemed like he didn't have a partner, but joined a group. Maybe they could be partners or at least she could join the group as she knew Nathaniel to be part of the group as well. Making her way across the room, Mariel stood behind the boy and said, "Hey Lucas, wanna be partners?" She much rather be paired with another first year than an older student. Even playing field.

Caleum listened as everyone continued practicing and then came upon the Ravenclaw Prefect, one that he didn't know. "Excuse me," he said as her and her partner practicing and smiled. "Would the two of you mind demonstrating the next spell?" He wanted to use students in the class to learn off of others, whether they did something wrong or not. It was the best way to teach everyone the proper way of casting protecting spells.

"Er um ok." he said not knowing who he should practice on. "Do you want me to practice on you?" he asked her.

Lucas looked up and saw Mariel talking to him. "Hi Mariel." he said brightly. "We can be partners if you don't have one that would be real nice." he told her.

Celandine let herself be dragged by her brother, there wasn't much point trying to fight it he was much bigger and stronger after all. She stopped in front of him and gave him a mad atchooooo! look. She giggled slightly when she noticed that she'd gotten ink on him when he'd grabbed her hand. Not that she was planning on pointing that out; one thing Nico had taught her is to use what you have. She even ignored him using her nickname; he'd been a baaaad brother and totally didn't have the right to be acting like nothing was wrong at the moment.

"Expelliarmus!" Celandine began right away.

Mina smiled warmly, grabbing his hand and squeezing it lightly. 'Don't. Because it's partly my fault for carrying on the charade in the first place. I'm sorry.'

Wait. Stop. Rewind. Mina saying I'm sorry? Woah, since when did that happen to anyone that wasn't family? She inhaled deeply, surprised at herself.

Spotting the other girl coming up, she raised an eyebrow. It seemed that Lucas already knew her. 'I would suggest so, but it seems you've now gotten yourself a proper partner.' She gestured to the other girl. 'Good luck.'

Elizabeth was startled again when the professor came up to her and Mari. Loking over at him with slightly widened eyes, she finally spoke. "Um, sure. I don't mind." She glanced at Mari, not wanting to speak for her friend. Then her curiosity overwhelmed her. "What's the next spell?"

Astrid glared at Maddox playfully and said, "Show off!" Then she laid her hand out, palm up and said, "Wand please!" When her wand was finally with its rightful owner, Astrid stood casually twirling her hair in her left hand and said, "My turn is it, Darcy?" she laughed. "Fantastic!"

Dramatically clearing her throat, Astrid raised her wand like she meant business. She pointed it directly at him and said, "Expelliramus!" She smirked at him as his wand went soaring through the air.

Emily backed away. Apparently neither of the two students had heard her request earlier. They seemed fairly involved with their own drama anyways. She instead scanned the room for another pair who might take her in.

Caleum leaned in so that he could allow the student to hear. "Finite Incantatum. Do you know the spell?" If she didn't know the spell that was fine, it was a class to learn.

"Class, quiet down a moment," he began as he looked to the students. "I have been watching a few of you in the dueling arena and noticed that you are trying to practice the Finite Incantatum. Can someone tell me what this spell consist of?"

"Great," Mariel smiled and walked slightly away from the group where there was a bit more room and gestured for Lucas to follow her. "So, I've never done this one before, have you? Mind if I go first?" Taking a deep breath, Mariel flicked her wand in Lucas's direction and commanded, "Expelliarmus!" Nothing happened. "Am I doing the wand movement correctly?" she asked Lucas, hoping he'd know. Sigh. This was just like Transfiguration. Hopefully like that class, she'd be able to master the spells after a bit of practice.

His wand only tugging slightly from his hand Nicholai smirked at his sister and raised his hand to answer the question, "Finite Incantatum cancels out most but not all enchantments and spells currently in effect."

Noticing the ink on his hand Nico frowned and busied himself with scourgifying it.

Jenn smiled at her. "It's alright. I'm glad you got it!"Jenn said hugging her.


Jenn raised her hand eagerly. "It's used to stop a spell!"Jenn said quickly to the professor.

Rachel stopped practicing for a bit, and turned to listen to the professor. This is a really fun class!

Emily raised her hand and said "It is used to negate the effects of a spell, usually by ending it."

Caleum heard the Ravenclaw student speak up first and nodded his head. "Correct," he began as he continued walking around the class. "You are also one of the students I have seen use this spell in the dueling arena." He didn't want to embarrass the student in any way as he had seen that she knew the spell she was using. "Three points for Ravenclaw."
