Torie did as the Professor asked and went and grabbed a green gown from the pile the Professor had indicated. She pulled it on quickly and took her protective gloves from a pocket in her bag. She pulled those on as well and resumed her seat by the fire. The fire was nice and warm, and Torie began to get a little drowsy, but she forced herself to stay awake. It would not do to fall asleep in class! She looked around at the other members of the class and gave a wave to Anna who was sitting with Cale, and another girl that Torie didn't know.

Allie put on her gloves, and then walked up and took a red gown. She put it on, then sprayed herself with that fire-repelling spray.
"What are we going to be doing in class today?" she thought, as she walked back to her seat.

Cale shivered and wrapped his Holyhead Harpies scarf tigther around his neck. Why was it so colddddddddd? "Hey Melinda, how's it go-going?" he asked, his teeth chattering together slightly as he spoke. He had no idea he was THAT cold! Putting on his protective gloves and rubbing his hands together to try and get them warm, he grabbed the first green gown he spotted and started to spray himself with the fire protectant spray, wrinkling his nose in disgust. "Ewww, this stuff kind of stinks," he grumbled before heading back to his spot, trying to not breathe in too much of the spray stink.

Anna nodded in agreement about the fire doing a good job. She was really grateful that the professor had thought ahead and made sure the students would be comfortable during the lesson. Anna put on her protective gloves and went forward to find a gown. After she'd found one to fit her, she put it on and then sprayed herself with the fire repelling spray. What on Earth were they about to do?

Torie had forgotten about the repelling spray until she saw the other students spraying themselves with it. She got up from her warm seat with a sigh and quickly sprayed herself all over. She wondered vaguely if they would be dealing with salamanders today, as that was the only creature she could think of that would require them to be so near to fire. Taking her seat once more, she waited for the Professor to continue.

Melinda giggled when she saw Cale shiver. "It's going good...how about yourself? and besides...this cold of course..." She asked, smiling.

"Want a remedy?" She asked. "Squeeze the tip of your ears...no matters if it hurts...just do so, and in like...a minute your body will be warm enough to talk..." She suggested.

Miranda slowly got up and reached the place where an assortment of gowns lay down. She picked one up and tried it on. It was pink. But as she was making her way back to her seat, she almost tripped again as she stepped on the gown. Miranda sighed again, the gown was to long! She made a face and went back to pick another one, this one was purple. Finally... she thought as she put it on, it came down to her knees, and went over to spray some of that fire repelling stuff.
As she sprayed on, she began to think. Why would they have to put this on? Were they going to be tossed into the fire or something? She gasped, still spraying, were they going to see dragons!?
Miranda's jaw fell as she kept spraying with the spray, although it was'nt on her now. She had raised the spray way over her shoulder.

Ella frowned, but smiled immediately, "Cool, thanks Lima, let's go and pick the gown.." she walked over the place, picked her fav. pink color one..and sprayed herself with the fire-repelling spray.

Lima smiled at Ella and said, "no problem." She sat there in her place, waiting for Ella to join her again.

Rapunzel followed the professor's instructions, selecting a purple gown. She then sprayed herself with the repelling spray and slipped on her gloves.

"Well now this looks a little awkward...." Punz mumbled to herself, sitting down next to Ella and Lima. It was just weird to move around in a fire-repelling protective gown....like something out of a Muggle science fiction film.

"Really?" Cale asked, rubbing his hands together again. "Lemme try," he said, finding the tips of his ears with his numb fingers and squeezing.

"I dunno, I don't think it's helping that much," he said with another shiver. He hated winter. It was snowy and yucky and wet and just bleh.

"I know, but you never know what the accio spell will bring you." She winked, speaking of experience, which made her smirk again.

"Ok class, now that you are all protected.. We will be studying fire crabs. Can anyone tell me what a fire crab is?"

Lima smiled as Pretzel joined her and Ella. "Hey, McBolical One! What do you think we are doing today?" She shifted her position as she spoke. It was definitely awkward here.

Allie raised her hand.
"A Fire Crab is a large, tortoise-like creatures native to the island of Fiji. They have six legs, and a heavily jeweled shell. It is able to defend itself by shooting flames from its rear end when it is attacked." she said.

Ella came back and sit next to Lima, smiled and nodded at Zel, her another close friend. Dominic sighed quietly as the kids seemed to get overly excited when the professor mentioned she may let them make s'mores. He didn't particularly like magical creatures, nor did he like s'mores. However, apparently this was one of the required classes for fourth years. So here he was, teeth chattering in the freezing cold. That was when he heard the Professor's voice, asking them to put on ... A GOWN!? OH MERLIN NO!!!!! Gowns were for witches and he was not wearing one of those.

In the meantime, Dominic walked over and picked up a black gown - the most manly of the color choices. Walking back over to his spot by the fire, away from the others, he set the gown aside, not intending to wear it. Slipping on his protective gloves that his mother insisted on him getting - despite how he told her he had no intentions to work with magical creatures - Dominic then proceeded to complete the final step. Fire repelling spray. Not wanting to catch on fire, he sprayed himself with it as directed and then waited for the lesson to end begin.

Torie couldn't help but giggle. "I knob they shoot fire out of der bums, Professor." Man, everything was so much funnier when you were not quite well. Torie continued giggling quietly to herself. Maybe this class wouldn't be too bad after all.

Astrid raised her hand high and said, "Ooo I do ma'am. The fire crab looks like a tortoise with a jewelled shell which can shoot fire out of its rear end when attacked."

Miranda hurried over to sit down, Fire Crabs? Oh dear...
She put on her gloves, feeling as fat like a marshmallow, and listened to the answeres the students were giving.
Flames through its rear? Miranda gulped.

Lima smiled at Professor brooks and said, "I'll keep that in mind"

Then she added, "fire crabs are 6 legged tortoise like creature that come from the island of Fiji. Their shells are jeweled, and they can shoot flames from their.. behinds."

Melinda raised her hand. "The Fire Crab is a large, tortoise-like creatures native to the island of Fiji. They have six legs, and a heavily jeweled shell. It is able to defend itself by shooting flames from its rear end when it is attacked" She quickly said.

"This creatures are now protected, and a reservation has been built for such reason, so Muggles don't get hold of them and use them as jewels, or us, to do cauldrons with..." She added that fact.

She hated the cold.
Mariel pulled her cloak around her tighter as she walked to the CoMC class.
Honestly. Couldn't they find a classroom to conduct this class in the middle of winter? Who wants to be outside in this weather?
Making her way to the group of assembled students, she felt the tiniest bit of relief to see a bonfire. That would help a little, she thought as she sat in one of the wooden seats. An actual chair. At least they wouldn't be sitting on moldy logs today.

Mariel raised her eyebrows in a questioning glance as the professor asked them to get a gown and spray themselves with.. what? A fire-repelling spray? Sweet Merlin. What on Earth were they going to be doing today? Reluctantly Mariel put on a blue gown, obviously, and sprayed herself with the protective spray.

Studying fire crabs? At least they didn't have razor sharp teeth like those clabberts, but Mariel was awfully leery about being burnt to a crisp - even with the protective gear.

Anna raised her hand to reply. "Professor, the fire crab is a creature which resembles a tortoise. It has a jeweled shell and can shoot fire out of certain parts of its body."

Sophie was impressed by how much the students knew, "Well done, that's 3 points each." She smiled.

"Indeed they do." She laughed. 'One point for you!"


"Take two points for that." Sophie said.

"So why do you think they are in danger?"

Astrid threw her hand up in the air and said, "They are constantly in danger of being killed for their shells, which unscrupulous wizards will use as cauldrons."
