Patricia took the pieces of cheese, placing the Parmesan on the desk and the Stinking Bishop on the floor under it. Taking her wand in her hand, she did as the professor had asked and practiced the words before doing the wand movements. It was an uncomplicated Charm to do, really!

She finally joined words and movement after a few minutes practicing the moves: aiming her wand at the Parmesan, 'Odoris Subsisto Parmesan' she said firmly. She saw Ludo, the Ravenclaw boy, taking a sniff of his own piece of cheese and decided to do the same. Picking it up gingerly between thumb and forefinger, she sniffed it from all sides. Crinkling her nose a little bit, she couldn't detect any aroma at all. This was a good omen, that other stinky cheese would get the same treatment at present.

She bent down to retrieve the Stinking Bishop, almost heaving at its scent. Without further ado, she pointed her wand and gurgled out, 'Odoris Subsisto Stinking Bishop'. She bent over the piece of cheese and sniffed at it very lightly, just in case the spell hadn't worked. But with a sigh of relief, the cheese had no more smell to it. Thank Merlin, she thought to herself.

Mariel nearly breathed a sigh of relief. She knew she could count on Professor Shackleton to promote independent study and not indulge the class in any of that 'find-a-partner' nonsense. They never had to pair up in Arithmancy.

But only nearly, because before she knew it, the professor had placed some of that awful-smelling cheese on the desk right in front of her nose!

Nearly passing out from the stench, Mariel stood up to practice the charm. Using the wand movement Professor Shackleton demonstrated, she said the words, 'Odoris Subsisto Parmesan', rather thickly as they were muffled by the robes she had pulled up over her nose. Tentatively, she pulled down her robes to sample the air quality. Still foul. She thought as much. The spell probably wouldn't work properly if the words weren't stated clearly.

Frowning at the cheese, Mariel resolved to try again. After all, it was the only way to get rid of the smell. Swishing her wand in the correct diagonal motion, again she commanded, 'Odoris Subsisto Parmesan'. Peering at the Parmesan, she bent her head closer to it. She thought the spell worked, but wasn't completely sure as the smell of the other was completely overpowering. It seemed a little less stinky in her immediate vicinity at any rate. Now for the Stinking Bishop.

Astrid took the tissue off of her nose and nodded. "If by help you mean to get rid of this smell, then yes.....Please HELP!" she teased. "Actually, I haven't tried it yet. Here goes nothing." Astrid looked at the cheese as if telling it to do as it was told and then went through the wand movements again. This time she spoke the incantation, "Odoris Subsisto Parmesan" and smiled at Maddox when the smell noticeably dissipated. Unfortunately she could still smell the really nasty one.

She rolled her eyes at it and said, "Alright you stinky cheese. Its your turn." She flourished her wand again and said, "Odoris Subsisto Stinking Bishop". This time however, the cheese continued to emit a smell. It was toned down a bit, but still pretty repulsive. She turned to Maddox, with the tissue once again in place over her nose and said, "Can you fix that one for me?"

Maddox chuckled at her face and kissed her cheek. "Dont worry I can't smell it. Its safe to breath." He chuckled. He felt no guilt after kissing her cheek. He was fine, despite the hole in his heart that lima had left there.





Maddox laughed at the tissue over her nose. It was very cute. Once she got the spell on the parmesan he sniffed and said, "Very good, but if you really want to lessen it more, put more energy behind the spell." He grinned at her. He liked being old Maddox again. He didnt have to be so careful all the time.

He chuckled when she spoke to the cheese like it was a real thing. When the smell didnt disapate as much as he thought it would have he replied, "Like I said, put more energy behind the spell and it will take more of the scent away. Try again." He smiled and watched.

Penny moved her hand and smelled. "Thanks." she said to both the kiss and help. She can still smell the other one. "Ugh." she said. She was going to have to do this one fast. "Odoris Subsisto Stinking Bishop." she said and motioned with her wand. She leaned over and smelled. "That is better." she said and sat back.

Maddox grinned and said, "Welcome love." He watched as she got rid of the other cheese's pungent smell. He smiled and said, "Much better. My turn."


He placed the hunk of stinky bishop infront of him. He concentrated, quickly did the wand movements and said, "Odoris Subsisto Stinking Bishop!" As soon as the phrase left his lips the smell was gone. He smirked and said, "Now that ladies is how you do it." He chuckled.

Penny smiled back. "Thanks!" she said. She watched as he did his. She laughed at his comment. "Yes it is." she said giggling.

Christine felt her self getting light headed from holding her breath. She let the air out with a huff and took another one in through her mouth. She could taste the horrible smell in her mouth. She gagged again and leaned further back in her chair. Christine felt the chair start to wobble and tried to grab on the table to steady herself. She missed the edge of the table and fell back and hit the floor with a loud bang.

Mari had kept herself away from the stinking cheeses for as long as she could, but she figured that she would have to learn this charm anyway. It would actually benefit her in the long run, especially since she didn't really care for cheese, but both of her parents seemed to love the stuff. Her mother kept a particularly foul kind of bleu cheese in the icebox back home, and now Mari would be able to breathe when she went in searching for her ice cream, and that was a plus. She wrinkled her nose as she smelled the cheese, her expression one of great distaste." Odoris Subsisto Stinking Bishop!" She said forcefully, her desire to not smell the cheese very strong. The spell worked immediately, much to her happiness.

Hannah, who had been holding her breath and taking only shallow ones up to this point, let out her breath. She said forcefully, "Odoris Subsisto Stinking Bishop!!!" then snapped in another breath. I better see if that worked, she thought to herself, but if it didn't, I'm gonna get a huge whiff of it. Oh well, here goes nothing! She counted to 3 and then inhaled deeply. The stink... was gone. HALLELUJAH!

Christine got up quickly, hoping no one saw or heard her fall. She decided it was best just to stand up three feet away from the cheese. She pointed her hand towards the cheese, did the movements and said Odoris Subsisto Parmesan. She pulled a quill out of her bag, poked the cheese with it, and moved it closer to her. She took a quick sniff through her nose and sighed in relief when the smell was gone.

Lisa listened to the professor intently, she could just tell that this was going to be an interesting lesson.Interesting in a good or bad way..she wasn't too sure, but interesting nonetheless.She thanked the professor when she recieved the cheese, it did have a very pungent smell.It reminded her of the book she had read back at home, about a dwarf named Mulch Diggums(fiction of course).

Lisa still hadn't quite got the wand movement for the spell, but she wrote down everything professor Shacleton said; so that she could refer to it when needed.She just practised pronouncing the spell first, on the Parmesan cheese."Odoris Subsisto Parmeso,"she said clearly and loud enough.She practised this several times and then looked back at her notes to see the wand movement. Lisa quickly did the wand movements as the Professor had demonstarted but the smell was still very bad.She looked around to see if she could find anyone who had mastered the spell and could help her with it.

Jayne nodded and pulled out her wand 'Odoris Subsisto' she muttered as she slashed her wand through the air, smiling she turned to the cheese "Ok. Let's dance cheese" she said to herself 'Odoris Subsisto Parmesan' she gasped as a gash appeared in the cheese 'reparo' she muttered quickly and she noticed the gash disappeared "Phew, Ok" 'Odoris Subsisto Parmesan' she held her breath and 30 seconds later she cheered "Yes! I did it!" she grinned as she looked around

Diana was just beside Christine in practicing.She stiffled a giggle as she fell and looked as if nothing had happened.Diana was quite used to in doing all these charms as she had seen her mother do these at home sometimes.She flicked her wand in the correct way,as the Proffessor had said to and said clearly,"Odoris Subisto Parmesan",pointing it at a stinking chese,and then pointing at the Stiinking Bishop said,"Odoris Subisto Stinking Bishop".She smelled both just to check and was satisfied to see that both were not giving off any more smell.She looked at Christine and smiling,she asked her,"Are you alright?"

Oh for the love of Chocolate Frogs! The smell was revolting! Miranda wrinkled her nose and tried to breathe through her mouth. The stinky cheese lay ontop of her table, all she wanted to do was to levitate it through the window... Blergh.

Did the parmesan smell any less? If it did, Miranda couldnt tell. Poking the Stinky Bishop over to the edge of the table away from the other cheesem she began to practice the incantation.
Left, Right, Up, Left, Right Odoris Subsisto Parbesad! she said loudly, aiming her wand at the cheese, still breathing through her mouth.

Professor Shackleton scanned the room, observing each of the students' performances so that she could give a report to Headmistress Rae about their progress, who probably would relay the report to Professor Hawkins at a later time.

As she paced the room, she spoke to the students, "Continue practicing if you haven't achieved success yet. But while you're doing that, I would like for you to speculate why this charm might be particularly useful specifically for stinky cheese, though I will tell you that you can use this charm for any particularly stinky item if you just name the item after the incantation, but I would like for you to speak on why this charm would be useful in this situation. In other words, what about removing the odor from smelly cheeses makes this charm beneficial?"

Jayne turned around "So you don't die from suffocation" she laughed

Jessica practiced her charm as she listened to Professor Shackleton. That was a though question.

"There are certain products that can be traced by their smell, so removing it can make them undetectable. So this charm could be useful to hide things." Jess tried an answer. "But I'm not sure how it could be important for cheese."

Astrid nodded at Maddox and said, "Okay. More energy, huh?!" She rolled up the sleeves of her robe and glared at the offending cheese. Then she pointed her wand at it and said (nearly yelled), "ODORIS SUBSISTO STINKY BISHOP". How's THAT for enthusiasm? she thought as she bent down to smell her cheese. "Oh Maddox, I did it! I did it!" She cheered triumphantly.

Astrid beamed up at the Professor as she walked by her desk, clearly proud of her accomplishment. Then she raised her hand and said, "Well professor, I think that this charm would be helpful in lots of ways. For stinky cheese, simply taking away the odor makes its possible to eat it or cook with it, without having to hold your nose throughout the process." she laughed quietly and tossed her now unnecessary tissue into her bag.

"Also, it could come in very useful during potion brewing. There are often some awful smelly ingredients that we are required to work with. This would help with that. Maybe even to take away the smell of a potion all together." she added.

As she held her wand over the second cheese prepared to perform the charm, Mariel was startled by a loud bang. Quickly turning her head to locate the source of the sound, she saw a young Hufflepuff girl had fallen out of her seat. Watching her for a moment, Mariel realized that she looked familiar but couldn't place where she might know her. Anyway she got up and seemed to be alright, so Mariel gave her a weak smile and returned to her work.

Before she could perform the spell, Professor Shackleton spoke so Mariel turned her attention to the front of the room. She could think of plenty of reasons why this spell could be beneficial - to prevent one from passing out from the smell, to keep people running, while screaming, from any room where such cheese is kept, but perhaps her subtle sarcasm wasn't what the professor was looking for.

Mariel threw her hand in the air. "This spell might be beneficial for the person who cultivates and sells this kind of cheese. The smell may be off-putting to people and without the smell, more people may be willing to purchase it."

Turning back to the offensive cheese, Mariel was finally ready to attempt the spell. Again moving her wand in the correct diagonal motion, she commanded, 'Odoris Subsisto Stinking Bishop.' Biting her lower lip in anticipation, she crept closer to examine her work. Better, but the smell wasn't completely gone. One more time should do it.

Anti-odor charm..could come in handy. Meredith first wrote down all the movements and incantations before she went to practice the spells.
She first practiced the wand movement, until she had memorised it completly and could do it faultless. Then, she said the incantation once "Odoris Subsisto Parmesan".
Then she tried them together on the cheese, but nothing happened.
After a few times practicing, the smell got a little less, and she smiled.
Meanwhile, she was thinking about the question the teacher..prefessor had asked. "Well, if you want to surprise someone with stinky cheese the surprise doesn't get ruined by the smell...Also, if there are others things in the room that do smell nice, you wouldn't be able to smell them so good because of the smell, but with this charm you can. "
Then she added.
"And if you have stinky socks, you can use that spell and say to your mother that you already washed them. Oh, and some people might get nauseous if they smell a certain smell, and if you use the charm they won't."

Anna raised her hand to add her input to the situation. "Well, as disgusting as this may seem, rotten, smelly cheese attracts insects we don't particularly want around us," she said. "For example, flies are attracted to smelly cheese. Removing the smell from the cheese wouldn't attract unwanted insects."

"As for ways it would help us with items other than cheese, I guess it would make things more tolerable to be around. I mean, who wants to constantly smell something that is rotten or nasty? It would surely help make things easier to be around," she finished.

Sarah had been listening intently to Professor Shackleton and writing all the information down.
Then came the part to practice on the cheese....
Looking down at the pieces the professor had placed on her desk,Sarah gagged. "Oh my god it stinks something terrible!" she said,while trying not to be sick. "I'd better get this right,I've GOT to disperse this smell.."

She flicked her wand in the way they were told and recited the spell.. loudly.
"Odoris Subsisto Parmesan!"
Peering at the cheese she sniffed it. "Hmmm,well it certainly is less pungent,but not completely gone.Maybe I didn't swish my wand right," she pondered.

Rolling up the sleeves of her robes she set about trying again.. "Odoris Subsisto Parmesan!" she said with a swish of her wand.
Again she sniffed it,and this time it had worked. "Oh thank god for that.Now just need to do the same with the Stinking Bishop....Hmmm."

Dominic was careful observing the other students practice the spell before he pushed his sleeves up to prepare for his own charmwork. Sure the smell of the cheese was revolting, but nothing compared to that scent of the female population. Not even bothering to practice the wand movement or incantation - the fourth year was about to perform the charm on the Parmesan when he heard a loud bang. Whirling around in his seat, Dominic cocked his head slightly to the side in order to see who it was. Christine! Despite recognition of the young housemate, the boy just stood there, fighting back the urge to chuckle or smirk. But a moment later, she was up and practicing, so Dominic turned back around and focused on his cheese.

Pointing his wand at the cheese, Dominic made a short downward diagonal motion from left to right, a long straight upward stroke, and another short downward diagonal slash from left to right. As he did so, the fourth year muttered "Odoris Subsisto" completing forgetting to name the object after the spell. Since it wasn't specified, but the wand movement was, all sense of smell in the area subsided. But the cheese scent remained and was stronger than before, since the other odors around it subsided. Whoops!

Before he could try the spell again, the Professor addressed them with a question. Oh for Merlin's sake! He was trying to practice a charm, not THINK! Sighing quietly, it was too late. She had interrupted his train of thought and he just HAD to raise his hand.

"Removing the odor from smelly cheeses would allow one to consume the cheese without being distracted from its rancid smell." Dominic suggested, before turning his focus back to the cheese.

Laylee had walked into Charms classroom to the wrong professor. She thought for a moment she was in the wrong room. She finally found a seat and sat down, wondering where the Charms Pofessor could be. Thats when a horrible odor hit her senses. Laylee squeezed her nose together as the Professor explained what they would be doing today. When Laylee got her pieces of cheese she separated them, to make it easier to do the spell. Layle first said he incantation, "Odoris Subsisto Parmesan!" Then she did the wand movement. The she swiftly put the together, pointing her wand at the parmesan cheese. The class room was so overtaken by the Stinky Bishop cheese, that she wasnt even sure if her charm worked. Laylee bent over the cheese and sniffed. Success, it didnt smell!
Laylee turned to the other one now, doing the same thing. "Odoris Subsisto Stinking Bishop!" She said, and then she practiced the wand movement again, then put them together once more. "Odoris Subsisto Stinking Bishop!" Laylee could instantly tell the spell had worked this time! Her desk space was amazingly less stink, though it still was as other students around her hadnt fixed their cheeses yet. Laylee sat down and took notes on the charm.
