At the sight of the worms that the professor had put on his table Nancy swallowed hard and quickly looked away from him and his worms. Ew! That was just so gross!
Then copying the ingredients into her notebook she smiled at Miranda. Finally they were getting started! Nancy was really excited to brew something. She almost ran to the front to get her ingredients and quickly sat down again, placing them in front of her. Okay, here we go...

Pouring water into her cauldron she lit the fire beneath it and waited until she saw bubbles rising inside the water. Okay, that meant it was boiling, right? Okay, and now? Reading the instructions again she took the billy wig stings and carefully crushed them always hoping that she was doing it the right way.

"Add billy wig stings and spider legs" Ew, spider legs! Trying to touch them as little as possible Nancy put the legs and the crushed billy wig stings into the cauldron. While stewing for about a quarter of an hour she looked around the room at all her classmates that were doing or at least should have been doing the same thing as she did. Just before her arm seemed to fall off the 15 minutes were over. Finally!

"Add rat tail slices and continue to stew for 30 minutes" No, not another half an hour of stewing!! Please not again! With a sigh Nancy slowly cut the rat tails into slices with her knife not exactly thinking about what she was doing. Which was probably better, anyway, with all the rat tails and stuff. Adding the slices as well she let out another exasperated sigh and started to stew once again.

Her eyes were just about to close when she realized that the 30 minutes were over as well. Although she couldn't exactly feel her right arm she somehow managed to extinguish the fire underneath her cauldron to let the potion cool down.

Sarah looked up as Jenn walked over and showed her her bottle of potion.
"Wow looks like you did good!" she grinned. "I think mine went ok too.The hair is still stood up on my arm anyway," she said looking down.

The hairs were still up and stiff as boards... I hope they go down soon,it looks weird next to my other arm.

"I wonder what we'll have to do next," Sarah whispered to Jenn.

Jenn smiled. "Yes it does."Jenn laughed and then looked at her arm. Her hairs where sticking way up. It looked quite wierd.

Jenn shrugged her shoulders. "Dunno. Hopefully not something with rat tails and spider legs again."Jenn said, shivvering just at the thought.

Nate smiled at her. "I don't have my abilities in check a lot of the times"




"Think I should keep the color Professor?" Nathaniel asked with a devilish grin

Sarah shivered at the same time as Jenn.
"I know what you mean.I hate rats and spiders..I really didn't want to touch any of it.Would have failed if I hadn't though." she shrugged.

Looking up again,Sarah sighed and re-did her ponytail. Damn thing keeps coming out.The last thing I want is to lean forward and end up with my hair in a load of gloop.

"I wonder what sort of homework we'll have?" she muttered,more to herself than anyone else.

"It does, actually. Thank you for mentioning that. The shelf life of this potion is roughly a year. The efficacy of the deteriorates over time. However, don't worry about using it past a year as it is merely the effect that diminishes. The potion doesn't become dangerous. However, this is definitely something you want to keep in mind because some potions WILL become dangerous if they are left to sit on a shelf for many years. It is a tricky business to find antidotes for potions which have gone bad."

"Yes, thank you. Excellent job," he grinned.

"It's rather festive, I'd say and I would keep it if I were you. At least until after the holidays unless you're making a statement," he chuckled and then cleared his throat to address the class.

"Alrighty now! Once you've tested your potion out on yourself, feel free to pack up and take it with you. For homework I'd like you to write 6 inches on what you learned today that you can take with you into the real world. And for extra credit, you can write another 2 inches on how you've used your hair raising potion this week," he winked. "I'll see you all next lesson!"

Rachel nodded, commiting what he had said to memory. She packed up her things and quickly noted down the homework as she listened to the professor talk. Once he had finished, she rose out of her seat and made for the exit. "Thank you, professor. That was a really fun lesson!" she said to him as she left the classroom. She had a mischievous expression on her face as she plotted on how to use this potion.

After testing her potion on her own hair, Lizzie brought some with her as she decided to leave. She packed up her things and walked by the professor on her way out. "Thanks for a fun lesson, professor." she said giving him a smile. "I never knew potions could be so interesting."

Astrid gave the professor a great, big smile and said, "Thanks!!" She packed up her things and gently placed her new spray bottle of Hair Raising Potion in her bag so that it wouldn't accidently leak on anything.

When she was all set to go, she looked over at the professor and said, Thank you so much for that wonderful lesson, sir. I'm already looking forward to the next one." With that said, she headed for the door, on her way back to the Common Room.

Allie had finished adding the billywig stings, and spider legs, and had started cuttinh the rat tail slices. After 15 minutes, she added them in, and waited for a hald an hour, like the directions said. She took the potion of the heat, and let it cool.Then walked up and got a spray bottle, and carefully filled it up with her potion.
She sprayed a bit on her arm. It tingled a little bit, and she couldnt help but giggle, but the hairs stood up. She smiled and labeled the potion, then walked up and handed it to the Professor.
"All done, Professor!" she said proudly.

Helena chuckled quietly to herself as the other students listed names of things having to do with potions going from the alphabet. Seeing as she didn't know the English alphabet yet, she chose just to observe, listening with care. And besides, she didn't know anything about potions either.

Helena listened to everything that was said very carefully.

Excitement welling inside of her, she pulled out her potion kit and assessed her ingredients. She lit a small fire under her cauldron (nonverbally) and crushed her billy wig stings as she waited for the water to boil. Finding she had extra time, she sliced her two rat tails.

When the water came to a boil, Helena added the crushed stings and counted out twenty-four spider legs, which she added immediately after. After letting the potion stew for fifteen minutes, she added the rat tails.

Thirty minutes of stewing, again, followed before she took the cauldron off the heat. Helena grabbed a spray bottle while she waited for her potion to cool. After putting the potion in her bottle, she sprayed a few sprays on her arm, and the hair stood straight up.

Smiling, she realized the class was dismissed. Helena jotted down the homework before collecting her remaining ingredients and running off to her next class.

Jenn nodded. "I hated the part where you cut the rat tails. Uhg!"Jenn said indisgust.

Jenn smiled. Lucky for her, her ponytail was being nice and was staying.

Jenn shrugged. "Dunno. Hopefully something that's nice and easy."Jenn said quitley.

Addie sighed. Apparently she wasn't very good at this.

The professor dismissed the students and waited for them all o leave before extinguishing the lights and closing the door. He went directly to his office next door to prepare for his next lesson to be sure he didn't get lost again.
