| | Staff Table The staff table sits on a dias at the front of the Great Hall. Lined with identical chairs, the table is set with heavy china in a flowery print and solid gold goblets. At the center of the table there seems to be a space, though a small three-legged stool can be seen if one looks under the table.
Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that some of the chairs have cushions, and some do not. Those that don't also seem to wobble as if one leg is just a bit too short. |

My parents never had anything to do with muggles and I knew nothing about them until I came to school and learned about some of their inventions through some halfblood and muggleborn witches and wizards. The more I learned about the world of muggles, it seems the more interested I became in them. I guess basically I just wanted to learn what makes them tick."
"How about you, sir?", Dumont asked. "Divination is a fascinating subject, I grant you, but how did you first get interested in it?" It was a bit suprising to see a male Divinations teacher though it did happen on occasion, Dumont surmised. "They are very interesting, aren't they? I admit I don't know very much about them, except for their monetary systems. Strange isn't it, how they don't just use galleons like we do, but complicated notes and those little...little...", Kapoor couldn't remember credit cards. "Those little plastic squares."
"I agree. It is very rare for wizard to get involved in Divination, though maybe not as much as you might think. In my 40 years of interest in the subject, I've seen some fairly well-trained diviners that were wizards, and many of whom were better than the witches in their field of study. You might be surprised. I am not as good as my wife, though, I must admit. She is a seer, and could probably teach circles around me." Kapoor was babbling a bit and he caught himself by quickly tapping his lower-lip. "I'm sorry, you asked me how I first became interested in the subject. That all started at Hogwarts with my Divination professor. She had a very grounded and logical approach to it, not this 'Dooms-day Prophet' stuff that sometimes gets taught in the schools." |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Armand Beta-Erikson Slytherin First Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Damien Beta-Erikson Slytherin First Year | Slytherin by heart The conversation about Divination was too much for him, and mention of seers already made him nervous. He tugged his robe free from the chair leg it was under and stood... perhaps a little too rapidly. "Do pardon me. I must take my leave. Perhaps I could get to know you all later." With that he gave a polite nod to the new professors and left as quickly as dignity would allow.

Dumont realized that the conversation that he and Kapoor had been having had caused Erikson to become upset. He stopped and thought for a moment. What was that rumor that he had heard? Oh dear me, Erikson was the professor who had lost his wife and son last term, wasn't he, and hadn't she been a Divinations professor? He realized this was going to be a very difficult term for the poor man. He vowed never to bring the issue up around him, the fact that he was able to come back and teach again after his ordeal was true testiment to his raw courage.
"You sound as though you are going to do an excellent job," Dumont remarked to Kapoor. "You almost make me wish I were a student myself so that I could learn your teachings."

"Do you supposed he's alright?", he asked, noting the sudden abruptness with which The Herbology teacher left the staff table. |

"Yes, I think he will be all right, but I know that he has had great pain and sadness in his life. I believe he has just gone to deal with it the way a true man would, by himself. In some ways the saying is true, time is the only healer." Dumont glanced back sadly in the direction Erikson had run off in. He knew that the grief was something no one could ever help him with, that the only way he could deal with what had happened was on his own. "I know you understand, Mr. Kapoor. You seem a very learned man, a very wise man. I may not be as old as some of the professors here, but these things I do know." Dumont smiled sadly. Trying to brighten things up he added, "I do have a feeling that the students will be in for a real treat this term, quite a unique experience all around."

He did not know one personal detail about Natasha Blaylock, her and Erikson's son, Damien, or her grusome passing. He could only agree that time was a great healer. Professor Kapoor gave a nod of agreement. "Indeed, I think they shall."
He was rather looking forward to getting back to his office and start the lesson plans for the term. |

"Good day to you, sir," Dumont said, standing up. "I must get started finalizing my first lesson." He pushed his chair in and began to head towards his office, getting ready to face the challenges of the coming term.

Finn's mouth dropped as Berty Boring gave the speech explaining the rules. How could they possibly believe that fun had no place in education? He pndered this and wondered how in the world they felt it necessary to restrict all communications outside of the parents of students. This wouldn't do. He must do something. It was time.

| Technically technical all the time Bookaholic "And on that note," Professor Branxton stood. "Let us all get a good nights' sleep so that we are rested and ready to bsorb our lessons tomorrow." Instead of sitting back now, he left for his office. The potions office. His headmaster office was too odious.
ooc: Feel free to ignore this post if you've already moved on from the feast, I just wanted to make sure I posted that the feast is now officially over.
