Eddy nodded, eager head-bobbing causing locks of hair to flop around and lash his eyeballs. Relieved to have gotten off with a slight warning, Eddy clutched the smelly lizard to his chest and backed away. "No problem, sir. I'll just wash him right off and do my transfiguration homework on dry land. Yes siree. No more lake for me!"

Ah that Eddy. He sure did have a way of making an entrance. He was more certain that the reason Eddy had burst into the Greenhouses rather then the stables was because his best mate had probably assumed (and assumed correctly) that Cale was in the greenhouses for Ed to get help from. "Eddy man, put Godzilla on a leash and join the rest of us with our homework, now that the lizard has been saved."

He waved at Professor Erikson. "Hullo Professor! The belladonnas are coming along nicely aren't they?"

Sho looked around and spotted Ryan's plant. It was still there and thriving, but a few more days and it might not be so perky. He nodded his head to it and then to Ryan, "Right there. Though you may want to give it some food and some water."

He watched Eddy and Erickson, a little smirk on his face. Obviously the kid had never really interacted with said professor... and why was he in a greenhouse with a lizard? Cale seemed to know, but Sho wasn't going to inquire.

"What homework?" Eddy asked, diverted. He set the lizard on the table where it slithered around the edge of a pot, peering suspiciously up at the boys.

"We had herbology homework?" Eddy asked, dismayed. He edged up closer to Cale, Ryan and Sho. "Man, I must've fallen asleep or something in class." The 'or something' was a very involved adventuring story he'd snuck out of his stash and placed between the herbology book's pages.

"Cross-pollination, Eddy mate, cross-pollination." He clapped his mate on the back and slipped him between Sho and himself. Ryan had wandered off to take care of his own plant. "Which plant was yours now?" Cale, sadly had an idea and was willing to wager 5 knuts that it was the brown wilted almost dead one in the corner.

Sho looked around the plants and tried to think of something else to use. He rubbed his chin, looking through the choices available. This had been hard enough the first time... Not hard as in the task was hard, but hard as in choosing plants to use is hard.

"Dang variety..."

"Cross pollination? Oh, right - Frankenplant!" Eddy's eyes lit up, even though he had no clue how to go about doing whatever it took to cross-pollinate. The idea of creating a plant sounded pretty cool to him. Sho, on the other hand, seemed to know what he was doing - he was digging right in and doing something. Eddy had no idea what.

"I had a plant somewhere in here," Eddy admitted to Cale. "I think, uh...maybe that one?" It was a drooping, brown plant in the corner. Eddy remembered shoving it there at the end of class.

Eddy retrieved it and brought it to where the others were working. As it thudded on the work table, several leaves fell off, leaving one remaining leaf stubbornly clinging to the lone stalk.

"Me thinks," Cale said poking the basically dead plant with a finger. "You need a new plant mate." He leaned over and peered at it before pulling his pocket knife out of his pocket. "But let's check first." He cut off a small piece of bark. The plant was still green underneath. There was hope in reviving it, but not in time to do Eddy's homework. "I'll work on this one, you get another plant."

He straightened up trying to figure out what to use to revive Eddy's almost dead plant and then saw Sho standing in front of the flats of flowers for the cross-pollination project. "Sho - I suggest the Day Lilly."

"Day Lily, right," he said, taking one and setting it on the table. "Now I just need a second plant..."

He walked toward the back to look at plants that were often ignored. They were all perky and well taken care of. Even Professor Erickson in his odd stage was still making sure they were perfect.

Excellent! His plant...wasn't dead! This brightened Ryan's day a little bit. That flower was kind of what had brought himself and Sho together as friends...a few years ago. "Did you take care of it?" Ryan asked, confused as to how the heck the thing was still alive. Perhaps it really was strong like a Knight.

He wandered over to the plant, inspecting things. It seemed slightly wilted, but not beyond repair. Ryan filled up a watering can and brought it back over to his plant. He watered the plant gingerly. It was a very delicate piece of nature, and seemed to perk up a bit as soon as he started watering it.

Cale, meanwhile had been busy studying Eddy's plant. He walked around it in a circle, then after a few minutes snapped his finger. "Essence of plum root and wooden duckfeet." He jogged of towards the supply cupboard passing by Sho who was still staring at plants. "Try the Fanged Geranium, although it might end up eating the lily so watch it while you're working with it." He passed by opened the cupboard calling out from within it. "And wear your dragon hide gloves while handling it!"

He shook his head as the crisis was averted and the students began to work together on some sort of... "frankenplant," as they had put it. Merlin help him, he'd actually encouraged such a thing. Though as much as he had things for them to play with, it wasn't nearly what they truly needed. If only he could get a decent lab together for the group... Thinking about it gave him a better sort of focus: away from the eminent loss of his friend. It caused him to think of what new equipment of his might be brought in.

Eddy found another plant. It was bright green and kind of glow-y, but definitely alive. 'Alive' was really the key. Eddy didn't care at all what kind of plant it was.

He plunked the plant's pot on a clear spot on the table and looked around. "Sooooo....what do we do again?" For some reason the phrase 'slice and dice' was going through his head.

"Oh hey, Ryan, is that the first step - water?" Ryan was watering a brownish plant. Sho and Cale must've been beyond that. They both had green plants. Since Eddy's 'new' plant was green, maybe he could skip the watering part. I guess I should've paid attention in class, Eddy admitted silently to himself.

The lizard, meanwhile, had found a couple of delectable leaves amongst the potted plants on top of the table and was happily munching away - sustenance as a reward for his ordeal.

Ryan was still busy watering his plant. He was half-tempted to dance around it too. He heard one of the boys ask him a question about watering the plants. "Uh...ask Cale. He's the plant expert," Ryan said. He had no clue. It was just common knowledge that you water plants, wasn't it? He was just doing what he thought was right, which was apparently working.

"Hey Cale!" Eddy called out. "We supposed to start with watering?" And then would you mind telling me all the rest of the steps? But that was probably asking too much.

Looking over his shoulder, Eddy checked for the location of the professor in the greenhouse. The man seemed preoccupied by something else. Eddy looked back at his plant, wondering how hard it would be to transfigure it into a different plant - just this once and until he'd had a chance to read the chapter they were supposed to completing this homework for.

"Depends," Cale called from inside the cupboards where he was busy looking for the Essence of plum root and wooden duckfeet in order to revive Eddy's plant. "Does your plant need watering?" He rummaged around a bit more and then finally appeared out of the cupboard covered in some dust. He sneezed as he rejoined Eddy at the table. "Oh yeah - that one needs some watering." He set the two containers in his hands down on the table.
