About five hundred yards from the Broomshed is a vast expanse of grass. Freshly polished broomsticks lie in neat rows that are spaced evenly apart. If you're from Belle's School and eager to attend your first Flying Lesson, then you've come to the right place. Stand by a broom and wait for Madam Wystan to provide further instructions. RULES
1. Girls-only lesson. If you're a boy, that means you don't belong here.
2. Do not announce you are late
3. Do not leave class without permission

The only problem was that it was extremely slippery. Dang it she thought as she almost slid off of her broomstick. Not even her own broomstick was this polished and she made sure that hers was always clean. Finally though she was on the broom properly and waited for more instructions. |

Scary woman, professor Wystan was. And was it just her, or the flying instructor had something against Amelia? Huh. She shrugged, for she really didn't care if her suspicious were true, or not; it wasn't her problem.
"Up", Willow said confidently and easily. Her broomstick obediently flew up to her hand. She was starting to feel like a first year all over again. Besides, she didn't appreciate that this instructor was telling her them to forget everything that Vindictus had taught them.
She didn't say anything, though; The last thing Willow wanted was Ravenclaw to lose points, so she simply remained quiet, and waited for the professor's instructions.
Following the Wystan's instructions, the third year put her right hand on the end of the Ministry approved broomstick, before placing her other hand, below of it.
The moment Willow sat on her broom, she felt that she was sliding very slowly. Standing up and sitting up again, she gripped her broom tightly, and then glued her other leg to the broom, before sitting straight.
Stupid polish. What was the point of learning how to ride sideways? Willow was perfectly comfortable riding the normal way.

Evangeline watched closely as the Ministry approved teacher showed them how to sit on a broomstick sideways, because of the skirts. Talk about lady-like. Okies, that seemed easy enough actually.
Mimicking the Professor's actions, she got onto the broomstick just like she had seen those ladies get on horses in old paintings. So far, so good. As long as she managed not to slide off the broomstick. Eh. | |

Ellie blinked a couple of times, and then moved her eyes to Amelia who didn't seem to be very happy.. she seemed to be kinda shocked.
Which was normal.
She shook her head and focus on Wystan educating them about flying sideways.
That was going to be interesting, it was always useful to learn new positions for broom riding.
Ellie placed her right hand towards the end of her broom handle and the her left hand below it.
Just like Wystan said.
She sat sideways on the broom with her right leg resting on the broomstick.. and then glossy polish of her broom made her slide a little.. but she stood on the broom.
Oh gez..

Ariana blinked. How did this woman expect her to sit on a broom sideways like a proper lady when she had so much trouble sitting on a broom the normal way? Shrugging she thought she'd let the professor know in her own weird way. Following her instructions, Ari placed her right hand on the end of the broom, almost slipping sideways as she sat down on it, her leg dangling strangely. "Oh this does not feel right." she muttered, glaring at the slippery broom.
Watching as Wystan showed them how to properly sit on the broom, ari adjusted herself, and promptly fell off her broom with a small "oomph!". She sat there blinking back her embarrassment and hurriedly got back up, dusting off the dust and trying again, getting the hang of where to place her hand and waited. Please tell me we don't have to fly, oh please she begged silently, knowing she'd have an accident for sure.

She quickly commanded the broom with the word "Up! again with the image of a broken broom in her mind; it popped into her hand with no problem. Then, Sheeta tried her best to imitate the professor's instruction but she ended up looking awkward on her broom.*

Juniper watched intently as Professor Wystan demonstrated the “proper” way to ride a broom. Ride sideways… on a broom. Well, that was just like riding a horse sidesaddle. Almost. She quickly placed her hands eight inches apart on the broom handle, just as Wystan had. Was that right? That was right.
Then sit sideways. Juniper placed her tush on the broomstick, keeping her legs on the same side of the broomstick. The befuddled look on her face barely summed up how she felt, but at least she was trying.
...and hopefully she wouldn’t slip off. Her broom seemed rather slippery, and she gripped the handle tighter. Her hands seemed to not want to stay in the same place on the broom, which in turn made her entire position slip around. Grrr at slippery brooms. | |

"Quit standing there and get on the broom," she yelled at the class and more pointedly at the Gryffindor girl. Something doesn't feel right. Wystan could feel herself sliding on the handle of the broom and gripped it tighter with her hands. This was irritating her more than slow students. Steelsheen watched the Professor closely as she demonstrated the 'proper' way of mounting a broom. She rubbed her fingers on the broom in her hand and noticed how glossy it was. Too glossy she thought as she looked at the broom. Something about this doesnt feel right. She looked around for any other broom that didnt look like they had that mysterious polish to them but couldnt find one. Sighing, she mimicked the professor's way of mounting the broom. As suspected she started to slip the moment she got on. We should mount these things between our legs, like they usually do she grimaced as she struggled to stay on her broom. Clipping her leg under the broomstick seemed to help slightly, but it was still very slippery. And we havent even flown yet, imagine what velocity will do to us with slippery stuff like these she thought.

What, exactly, did this teacher have against the Huffie prefect? Picking on her all the time....... and the next minute she was awarding her points? Katrina marked this teacher off as a physco. She hoped this teacher couldn't figure out wwhat they were thinking, because she was sure most of the students had the same opinion. Shrugging, Katrina placed her hand over her broom, said," Up!" calmly, and got on as Madam Wystan showed them. She ttightened her grip on the broom in an attempt not to slide off. What was their problem if they rode like the boys, like normal people did??!

Torie attempted to mount the broom as the Professor had instructed, but felt extremely awkward and unbalanced. She shifted uncomfortably and tried to get her balance oriented properly. For some reason it just wasn't working. Torie looked at the way she was positioned, and suddenly had an idea. Torie raised her hand to speak. "Professor, I am left handed. Is it permissible to sit on the other side of my broom so my hands are reversed? I think it will help immensely."

Kaika listened to the Professor's explanation, and couldn't help to think what his father would think about it, she knew that her grandma will agree with the Professor, though.
Thank Merlin that Kaika was excellent at supressing a laugh, which was what she did when she noticed the hard time Wystan had at first, but she'd noticed the glossy feeling of the broom when it touched her hand, so they were all probably going to have the same problem.
She did exactly what Wystan said, Kaika was a bit surprised, she had the feeling that it was going to be much worse than what she thought it will be, it was a bit slippery but not so much.

Ella tried to mount on her broom which looked rather in bad condition. Somewhat she tried to manage with that according to the Professor's instructions. Thanks for her sisters who taught her some flying in their backyard...Looking around, she asked, "Professor, is there any speed limit for this broom?"

Tomasina glared daggers at the Professor. Riding sideways! No woman had done that in centuries! Had she flipped her freaking wig or something? Who in the name of all the swiss chocolate in the world does that? Not even her mother who was the most prissy female Tommy knew rode a broom sideways. What were they the little woman on the prairie or something? She dug her heels into the dirty, determined not to putt one butt cheek on that broom to ride sideways.
"I thought this was a learning institution not a muggle charm school." She said. She was done with these stupid Ministry lessons. "Are we to learn how to fetch slippers and draw our husband's bath water next?" She threw her broom down. And turned to walk away. If she wanted to kill some brain cells she would listen to some drivel from a badger or something.

Jaimine stared at the broom and held her hand over it. "Up." she said, but not as firmly as the Dev- The professor. "Up." she repeated a little firmer and it quivered. Sighing she shifted her weight to the broom furthest away from the broom. "Up." she said with a way firmer voice. The broom came half way to her hand and fell back.
Jai glared at the broom, maybe it was will power. She didn't want Professor Vinditicus to be mocked because she couldn't get a stupid broom off the floor. "Up." she said with a form of authority and the broom shot to her hand. Satisfied she gripped it with both hands and was about to xlimb over when she heard the professor say they had to do it lady like? Jai was about to scoff but she heald it in. This professor was crazy!
Jaimine tried what she say and almost slid off, Jai moved her hands to mimic the professors and held the broom with her right leg. How would this work for someone who could barely fly? | |

Astrid was so nervous. If she could just stay calm, she could do this. It had to be a lot like back home, riding her horse, Starlite side-saddle. And she had been doing that since she was 5 yrs old and her Grandpa taught her how. This would be a piece of cake if it wasn't so darn slippery. With some determined effort she eventually managed to get on (and stay on) and then awaited further instruction.

"Are we to learn how to fetch slippers and draw our husband's bath water next?" She threw her broom down. And turned to walk away. If she wanted to kill some brain cells she would listen to some drivel from a badger or something. Katrina couldn't help but agree with the older Slytherin's words. She was tempted to follow her lead, but the slight problem would be that this teacher was SCARY. And the Huffies would hate her forever if she lost any house points. As she turned her head to see Wystan's reaction, she slipped off her room and landed hard on the grass. "Ow!" she exclaimed, getting up and seeing that she'd gotten a lovely, huge bruise on her right arm. Perfect. This was all she needed. Two more minutes of this stuff, and I'm going to snap, she thought angrily, getting back on the stupid, slippery broom.
