| | Divination - Introduction to Divination
Professor Kapoor opened up the door to his classroom, excited to be teaching again and looking forward to his first class with the young gentlemen of Cooper's School. He kicked down the doorstop to hold the door open momentarily and went back over to his desk and smiling he greeted each young man as they entered the classroom. "Good evening."
"Aaa-ACHOOOOO!", he sneezed rather audibly and pulled out a handkerchief to wipe his nose and running eyes from the allergy attack. |

He had to thank his mum for that one later. Professor Kapoor took two small inhales and opened his mouth preparing to sneeze, but ended up exhaling softly in false alarm. "Good, lad. Take two points for Hufflepuff." Quote:

"And the sign it is associated with Leo," he added. Huh, a lion, just like his house..."Professor, do you think that might be why the colors of Gryffindor house are red and gold? Like the sun? And the sign of the Leo is the lion? Well, it could of course just be because lions are brave...it was just a thought," he said, blushing. Great, he had started rambling in front of the class. How lovely. "While, I cannot say for certain whether or not that is true. The four houses of Hogwarts do bare more than a few striking similarities to the four elements in metaphysical studies. The four elements being fire, water, air and earth. The pragmatic and logical earth's characteristics can be seen in Ravenclaw house, and the secretive, emotional, creative water characteristics in Slytherin. Hufflepuffs are rather like the air element, sociable and out-going, and, as you mention, fire is an element associated with extroversion, courage, and individualism, which we associate with lions, the symbol Godric Gryffindor chose for his house. It is also interesting to note that the native orb of the sun sign Leo is gold. Good reply. Three points, Gryffindor." Quote:

And for that, take two points for Ravenclaw." The professor smiled, happy to see one of his own chime up, then pointed towards Jason. "Good. Another two points for Gryffindor."
"As you might've noticed, many of the different branches of divination are related through their common associations. 'Certain universal themes' such as the elements, and heavenly bodies, and by studying these themes you can build an arsenal of facts and bridge your understanding of the main disciplines of divination through the technique of association." He wiped his nose once more with the handkerchief and wrote out the homework.
"For your homework I want you to create a list for each celestial body and include; the name of the celestial body, its' gender and energy (whether or not it would be yin or yang based on that), its' western astrological equivalent, Jyotish gemstone, it's equivalent in Arithmancy, Tarot card equivalent, its' element (based on its' western astrological equivalent), and the colours with which it is associated. The sun, for example would look like this; 1. Sun, Masculine & Positive (yang), Leo, Ruby, #3, Sun/Empress, Fire, Reds & Golds.
Start with the sun and continue on through to Pluto, and don't forget to include the moon. That concludes your first Divination class, gentlemen. If you have any questions, you are welcome to see me in my office. You are dismissed. Have a good evening, gentlemen."
ooc: This was an intro class to cover basics, so the others which will deal with less broad topics will be longer.

Wow, that had been quick. Cale scribbled down the homework, glad that he was understanding the subject a bit more. "Thanks Professor, I think I'm getting it now," he said with a grin. "See you next lesson!"
With that, he turned and exited the classroom.

Hitachi raised his eyebrows and looked almost shocked. He picked his stuff up and approached the professor. "Professor, I don't mean to press it but I answered the answer just as the others have. Why have I not earned the last 2 points?" He really didn't mind 2 points but the house cup was in jeopardy. 2 points meant something.

| Heart of a Claw Austin quickly wrote the homework on a spare piece of parchment, which he shoved into his bag. With a smile and a nod to the professor, he left the class. |

I try to keep a mental tab of who has answered even if I do not respond, but it is a good idea in general to bring it to my attention in case an old man like me actually does forget to give someone their hard-earned points. Two points for your every-bit-as-good answer, lad." And, with that, he let out another sneeze.
Ooc: Weird. I thought I multi-quoted you. I'll make sure you get credit, though you answered just as everyone else did. Sorry for the inconvience.

Garret wrote down the homework assignment and made to leave the class, just as he passed by the professor, however, the man let out another loud sneeze. Wincing, the curly haired Hufflepuff dug around in the pocket of his robes for a solid 25 seconds and extracted a rather sad looking hankerchief.
"You look like you need this more'n I do, sir." he said, holding the thing out to the prof, hoping he wouldn't notice the spaghetti stain in one corner.

Will had just left the room when he heard Kapoor sneeze again. He popped his head back in the room before the door could shut. "Hey, Professor? Do you need some pepper up potion or something? I could get it for you..." He smiled hopefully; it seemed like the nice thing to do, as the bloke was obviously ancient (to Will's young eyes) and sick... and besides, maybe just maybe there might be some points in it for him.

He said taking the worn-in hankerchief, not noticing the reddish stain from Italian and transfering it to his face as he wiped his nose with the thing. It stamped and smeared to his cheek and made him look rather tarted up a bit. As if he'd only had time to do half a face this morning. "That was very kind of you." He said gratuitously as he handed back the cloth. Quote:

"Oh, no, thank you, lad. It is merely my allergies. They haven't invented a Pepper up potion yet that I've found to be a gauranteed combative to my allergies once they strike." He patted the boys head.
"Now, off with you two. You don't want to be late for your next class and you might want to get a jump on the homework from your classes." The Professor made his way to the door and lifted the kick-stop with his foot and stood there a moment to let all the students out for the day.

Garret's eyes widened at the sight of the sauce smearing his professor's face. It took all his self control to keep from laughing, but he just shook his head and held his hand up, palm facing the prof as if to push the hankie back, "No trouble, sir," he practically squeaked (if he opened his mouth too much, he would probably explode), "Keep it! I have tons."
And thankful when the prof dismissed them, Garret gave an odd salute and spun on his heel out of there.
