She then leaned over and whispered to Allie "and what does this have to do with defense against the dark arts? are we going to defeat them with our class and charm?"

And now it was time to get up again, wasn't it? Hmmm.. Now that seemed to be a slightly harder task since her feet didn't reach the floor but if Issy, who was as tall as she was, had made it, then she could do it too! Besides, she had to be a little princess and princesses did not make that kind of mistakes at all.

Biting her lower lip and furrowing her eyebrows, she carefully tried to reach the floor with her tiptoes and somehow managed it. However, it was hard to keep herself in balance and as each second ticked by, she felt as if she was about to fall. And truly, she was, for in the moment the chair moved away, she lost her balance completely and had to grab the edge of the table in order not to fall on the floor and ruin the pretty dress.

"Phew," She said, hoping no-one had taken notice of it, though she still turned red. Brushing her blue dress with her hand, she sighed with relief. It was still good. No damage done whatsoever.

Time to sit down again.

Moving to the side, she gave time for the chair to do what it had to do before she sat on it again, turning to Issy at once. "It IS fun!," She agreed, letting out a giggle at once.

Still rather hesitante, Savannah stepped up to the table. The chair pulled out, and she sat down just like instructed. She smiled at Ari and Sam, secretly pleased she managed to do that without embarassing herself like she would have thought would happen.

Listening intentively to the next part of the instructions, Savannah took a glance at the chair, uncertain, but rose from the seat and pulled it back. Next step, doing it all over again.

Pacing further away from the table, she strolled right back towards the chair she originally sat in, as it moved out she went to sit. And..thump. Leave it to her to somehow miss the right sold surface. Thankfully she landed between the two chairs, therefore not getting hit by a charmed chair. "Sorry," She murmured, apologetically to anyone whom noticed. Cheeks turning pink with warmth, she was abrupt to stand and try over again.

Once again, approaching the chair, it pulled out to seat her, and graciously as she could took the seat with ease.

Juniper giggled as Issy forced a dress over Becca’s head. “Issy, Professor Rae said we didn’t have to wear dresses. Becca’s welcome to wear her boring old uniform instead of a dress,” she said quietly. Her eyes widened as Issy turned to her and squealed.

“My hair? My hair’s impossible.” Juniper spoke very matter-of-factly as she looked down at the too-long dress. She grinned as Issy tried the spell and her dress was hemmed at the right length.

“Ooh! Can I try the spell on your dress, Issy?”

She looked at her friend’s dress, which was not quite as long compared to her own had been. Rescario, rescario, rescario. Juniper thought the word over and over in her head.

“Rescario,” Juniper said firmly, pointing her wand at the dress where it reached the floor. A tiny hem appeared on Issy’s dress, slightly looser and messier than the hem on Juniper’s dress, but still tidy and inconspicuous.

She smiled happily and followed Issy to the table. Walking up to the chair next to Melly's, Juniper stepped in front of the chair and sat down, fully expecting to fall. She was quite surprised, therefore, when she ended up seated on the chair.

Giggling, Juniper lifted her weight until her legs supported her as she hovered above the chair. She pushed the chair back until she was able to stand straight up and grin at Issy.

“Isn't standing up again fun, Issy?” Juniper asked as she sat back down and swept her skirts out, spreading them around her. “It’s not too hard.”

It was decided. Issy didn't know where she was going to find it, but she was going to find a tea set and celebrate her birthday in the Common Room. With a tea party! And they would all dress up and she'd play with Juni's hair and make them all look pretty. Even Becca!

She glanced to her side where Becca was, in her boring old school uniform. Wrinkling her nose, she playfully stuck her tongue out, then giggled to herself, swinging her legs again. Thanks to Juni's hemming, the skirt was a bit longer, which she really liked. Yaay for Juni!

Speaking of Juni, she grinned to her, giggling and swinging her legs still, deciding to stand back up again. "Yes!" she squealed. "I love this! It's so fun! Oh, Juni! Why don't we dress up more? Like Princesses! And with you and Melly looking so beautiful in your dresses... this is fun!"

Issy hadn't imagined that being a princess lady would be so fun!

Awww! Poor Melly! She obviously was not used to the floor to chair height as Issy was. Thankfully, she didn't fall. Grinning, she patted the girl's shoulder. "Nice save," she murmured, grinning, in case Melly didn't want attention called to her near fall.

While Melly was being all prim and proper, Issy was busy giggling like a fool. Eeeek it was so fun! Humming happily, she reseated herself, swinging her legs happily.

"Yes! So very fun! Ahhh I love this!"

Squeal!

Rhiannon listened to Professor Rae's instructions, and then sat still for a few seconds. Stand up without moving the chair? She didn't see how that was possible. But she was told to try, so try she did. Focusing every molecule of her body on not screeching the chair back from the table, she stood up slowly. But the chair made a faint screeching sound anyway.

Turning a faint pink, she sat back down and tried a few more times until she was fairly certain she had accomplished what she was supposed to.

"Well, fantastic. I think we've mastered sitting," Rae checked it off on her mental checklist, along with Resarcio and the hesitation lesson. "Next up, we're going to discuss a few of the finer points of sitting at a table. Elbows... do not go on the table. Ever. If you need to excuse yourself, you must ask your host, in this case me. You do NOT need to let them know where you are going or what you are doing when you excuse yourself, and elaborating on it is in poor taste." She snickered a bit at that. "Do not lean back in your seat, do not shout down the table, and do not take off your shoes, no matter how ill fitting, and then lose them under the table." Most of her list was of things she'd personally done anyway. "Questions so far?"

Yaya 06-16-2008 01:23 AM

"No, ma'am..." Melinda said, smiling. Finally, something she kind of understood.

She looked beautiful! Grinning, Melly blushed slightly. If Issy had said that then it must be true, for what would the girl gain in telling her that sort of lies? Besides, the dress itself was gorgeous and she honestly was not ugly at all, so it must, must, must be true! HA! Her muggle friends would envy her so much if they saw her like that! Maybe she should snap a photo and show it to them later! Of course she couldn't say she had been in a wizarding school but being in a dress was fine, wasn't it?

"We have to do it again!," She agreed, nodding. "And you're beautiful too, Issy! Really, you are!" And she was. Any guy would stare at her.

Blushing again as Issy noticed her, Melly put her tongue out and giggled. Well, Issy was bound not to make fun of her since she knew what it was like not to have big legs and touch the ground. "Thanks! I need a bit more practice with this," She smiled. When had she last smiled so much?

Hearing Issy giggle, Melina couldn't help but do the same. Unlady-like or not, she was happy and when Melly was happy, she laughed.

At the sound of the professor's words, the girl stopped laughing and turned her head to the woman, listening carefully to each word.

Without any questions to ask, Jade remained silent, wondering why it was necessary to learn all of these things that, to her, seemed to be built into her common sense. She smiled over at Sheeta, who also seemed to have on questions and winked slightly.

Hermione_loves_Ron 06-16-2008 01:29 AM

...ag!

Quickly, Issy slunk in her seat a little, bare feet searching for the flats she'd slipped off her feet. How she loathed wearing shoes. Fortunately, they were easy to slip on and off. Once they were secured on her feet again, she sat back up, straightening her back away from the chair.

Well, she didn't put her elbows on the table, that was good. And usually she sat up straight. But she was awful about slipping her shoes off and shouting down the table, so she'd work on that. And, as her friends had seen last summer, she was good at excusing herself and the table. That was all taught to her by Tomas.

"Ooops," she mumbled, grinning to her friends. "Gotta keep my shoes on. But they're so heavy and my feet don't even touch the groooound!" For a moment, she pouted, before remembering that princesses didn't pout.

Then she grinned at Melly, blushing profusely. Her? Beautiful? If only. Giggling softly, she bit her lip. "Do you think so, Melly? Beautiful, I mean?"

Would Samson think that...?

Ag! No! She was not allowed to think of him. With a firm, determind nod, she thrust her chin up, folding her hands in her lap and smiling demurely. Now she was like a lady.

"Please don't take points from us." Sheeta prayed silently.

Quickly Ari took her elbows off the table looking grim at the long listof things not to do during dinner. Blinking she shook her head, "Wow, that's quite a bit to remember." she mused, glancing over to Sam and Vannah before a grin crossed her features again. She kept her back straight and off the back of the chair, her feet drew together and crossed slightly, her hands were on her lap, where they were in the midst of a thumb wrestling match as she listened to the professor. She shook her head, not having any further questions.

Oh wait, she did have a question, "Um professor, how would one address the host? Like, if you were to be excued, how would you ask permission, without shouting or barbaric arm gestures." she asked, raising her hand.

Steelsheen nodded at each of the points, snickering at loosing shoes under the table. Goodness that happened to her a lot when she was younger. Her brow furrowed slightly at 'Do not lean back in your seat', well dinner parties are certainly not comfortable things, Steelsheen mused.
