Jace opened his eyes while he continued to kiss her. Good, there were no Professors around. They wouldn't get into trouble. That's good, he thought. He turned his attention back to the beautiful girl in his arms and held her close, still kissing her passionately.

He felt so right, just then. Like there was nothing in this world that could stop him from being with her. It was so right, so perfect.

Kayla pulled back a little to get her breath back and she looked at Jace through glazed eyes. "You know if we keep this up we're going to get into trouble" Kayla panted.

But as she looked at that beautiful face of his she threw caution to the wind and pulled him back to her and kissed him again. Oh what the hell she thought.

Armand walked in to inspect the neonate gardens then paused a moment as he caught site of Kayla and some Gryffindor boy kissing. A mask of indifference fell across his face as he ever so silently approached them. Once close enough that his most quiet voice could carry to them, he said softly, "Discretion is the better part of valor. In this case, because it keeps you from gaining detention."

Cassandra walked beside the professor holding the stool in her hands. "And if we win this next game, we'll have the house cup as well as the quidditch one... and that-" But then she heard the professor... and her eyes rested on the Gryffindor snogging the Hufflepuff. In the Student Gardens? Seriously? Did they not know Erikson was back! Idiots...

The moment Jace heard another voice, no wait, two more voices, he leaped back, and away from Kayla. His face blushed a bright red for just a moment before his face slid into a stoic expression.

"Sorry, Professor," he said, immediately recognizing the man as such. "Didn't know you wanted a show." He turned to the Slytherin girl and smirked at her before turning back to the Professor and gazed at him, his face giving no emotion away whatsoever.

"Oh...crap" Kayla muttered. She quickly got to her feet and looked at the Professor and then she quickly turned to Jace after what he said. "Aww Jace..." she groaned.

"My, aren't we feeling particularly half-witted today? Not more than I can expect from a Gryffindor, I suppose." He looked at Kayla. "How old are you, my dear?"

Kayla's temper flared just a little. "I don't think there's any need for name calling" she growled. "And I'm thirteen" Kayla took hold of Jace's hand and held it tightly, they were in big trouble she knew that.

Cassandra watched eagerly hoping he'd start deducting points from the idiotic Gryffindor who though he was hot stuff... all Gryffindors thought that... she had her experience with Keller James... she knew...

Jace squeezed Kayla's hand to reassure that it was alright. "So what if she's thirteen, Professor?" he drawled. His greenish-silver eyes glinted in the blue fire that was still in that jar, and he ran a hand through his blue hair. "It's not like it's not legal." He cracked a small grin. "Oh, and Professor? I'm not half-witted, I'm full witted." The grin vanished, only to be replaced by an amused half smirk.

"Jace..." Kayla started giving him a warning look. "Was there something wrong with what we were doing?" Kayla asked innocently looking back at Professor Erikson. She looked between him and the Slytherin Prefect and raised her eyebrows and what were they doing strolling the grounds together anyway.

"You're still making out with a child." He looked between the two of them, remembering what the score board looked like. "You both also know the rules of the school. Public displays of affection are not allowed. Not in my territory, nor any other place within the school. Both of your houses are also at the bottom of the points board, aren't you? Shouldn't you be trying to gain points and not lose them?"

Cassandra merely thanked Merlin that it wasn't a Slytherin... Like the red headed gorgon and the mountain troll. She waited behind the professor.

"I... think I'll put this in the greenhouse professor..." she said as she backed away, "with your permission..." she said backing away to the gate. "And thank you!" she added.

Jace's eyes widened and he released Kayla's hand and stepped forward. "She's not a child!" he growled. "She's more mature than some of the older students here." He glared at the Professor. How dare he call Kayla a child when he didn't even know her!

"Well, alright," he snapped. "I'm sorry. Maybe next time I'll just drag her into a broom cupboard and make out with her there." He glanced at the Slytherin girl. "Besides. What are you doing out here, with her? She's only still a child, compared to you! So don't preach what you can't practice, Professor."

Kayla looked at the ground and groaned inwardly at Jace's outburst. Although she did appreciate him sticking up for her but what he said to the Professor about Cassandra was a tiny bit uncalled for. She reached out and grabbed him by the arm. "Jace, let it go before we get into any more trouble" she pleaded.

"Oh yes, because there is obviously something going on when I assign the Slytherin prefect to care for my gardens while I am away, opposed to you having your lips locked with a girl on my grounds. Fifteen points from Gryffindor for your cheek. Five points from each of your houses for behavior un-befitting a Hogwarts student. And detention for the both of you. Will there be anything further? Lose two-hundred and fifty more points and you can share point totals with your little girlfriend as well." He smirked, ever so slightly. "Oh yes, and another five points from Gryffindor for the slanderous remark insinuating that a professor would cheat on his wife with a student."

Kayla looked at Professor Erikson with a stunned expression and she wholeheartedly wished the ground would swallow her up. "Nothing further from me" she croaked. Kayla looked over at Jace and pleaded him with her eyes not to say anymore.

Jace stood his ground. He knew the other Gryffindor students would be angry with him for losing so many points, but he didn't care. What the score was didn't really matter to him anyway. It was all just a rivalry thing anyway. Stupid, in his opinion.

He smirked though, when they both got detention. "Um," he thought for a moment. "Anything further?" he repeated. "Well, let's see..." He tapped his chin, and grinned at the Professor. But when he saw Kayla's expression, and held his tongue, even though there was loads more he wanted to say to the Professor.

"Just one more thing," he said, trying to lighten the situation. "I like your robes." He smirked, now looking fully like a little smart alecky git.

"Then I will see you both in detention. I would suggest you leave the gardens before you wind up in more trouble."

Jace smiled at the Professor sweetly. "Yes, of course, Professor. We'll both see you there." He seized Kayla's hand again and tugged her out of her spot. She seemed to be rooted to the ground. He tugged her once more, and dragged her off into the castle.

Kayla let Jace pull her along behind him. "What were you thinking, saying all those things to the Professor" she hissed. "Detention" Kayla moaned. "I hate being in detention" she walked beside Jace feeling very miserable.

"Thank you for sticking up for me back there, that was the most sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me."

Jace glanced at Kayla as they walked up towards the castle. "Couldn't help it," he shrugged. "The guy ticked me off." He still held her hand and yawned. "Well, detention. This ought to be interesting. Wonder what he'll have us do?" he thought out loud.

When she spoke again, he turned back towards her, but he didn't stop walking, thus resulting almost walking headlong into a tree. He glared at it for a moment before responding to her. "Well, I wasn't going to let that git insult my girlfriend, was I?" he asked incredulously. "There's no way he was going to stand there and do that while I was around. So I lost 25 points for Gryffindor. Big deal. I don't care. We're already way behind. There's no chance in hell we're going to win. Why bother even trying anymore? Stupid Slytherin," he muttered.

Kayla shook her head. "Jace have you ever been in detention before? I'm telling you now it's not fun and the way you spoke to Erikson...we're going to be scrubbing the floors with a toothbrush" she said faintly. The memories of detention in her first year were still vivid in her mind.

Kayla watched his outburst about Erikson and she smiled. "You know I love you for that, how you put me before everything else" she leaned over to kiss him and stopped short. "Better not push our luck anymore tonight. I guess we're not going to get to see the sunrise after all."

Jace's eyes narrowed slightly. "Yeah, right," he said. "If that man makes us scrub the floor with toothbrushes, I'll be sure to steal his right before we go down there." He let out a bitter laugh. "I can handle anything that git can throw at me."

He frowned when she didn't kiss him. "Aw, who cares? What more can he do to us?" And to prove his point, he leaned over and kissed her once. "And you're welcome," he said, smiling faintly at her. "I always put those I care about before everything else. I've always been that way. It's in my nature. Though I don't know where I got it from." He shrugged.

"Oh, the sunrise..." he frowned. "Well, we can still watch it from inside the castle, if that's alright with you?" he asked. "Oh!" He turned around and aimed his wand, which he'd just pulled out, at the tree. "Accio blankets!" he said, and they came zooming towards them. He held out him arms after he stowed away his wand, and caught them easily. "Don't want to forget them," he said, grinning.

"You're feeling very rebellious today aren't you? Remind me to never get on your bad side" Kayla said seriously.

She kissed him back she couldn't help it. "As long as I'm always on your list of people you care about, then I'm happy" she wrapped her arms around him and gave him a tight hug. "I think this detention won't be so bad with you there beside me."

"Yeah it's alright, I guess we can make it another night anyway. But I suggest we find another place to watch it, the gardens are a definite no-no" Kayla gave him a wicked grin as she took his hand again.
