As you near the office of Kyle Carter, a light scent of spearmint fills your nostrils. Upon knocking sharply on the wooden door and poking your head through the doorway, you realize it is definitely the office of either a very messy female or a typical male. Books are scattered over table tops and a few stray papers have fallen to the floor, already forgotten about. Funny-looking quills that are really pens, pencils, and random stacks of parchment are piled in boxes on the floor near the corner. Nothing seems to be in any particular order, but that is the only way Professor Carter could possibly keep himself organized.

The walls had not changed since the last Muggle Studies professor had been in the office, with the exception of three large pictures: a trio of teenagers, Carter and his wife at a wedding, and a picture of him hugging a cheerful Golden Retriever. Two regular sized windows are located on opposite sides of the room, one slightly cracked to let some fresh air in. The same sturdy desk remains on the far side of the room from the door, but many navy blue cushioned chairs have been put up against the walls while some are facing the professor's desk. It sort of looks like a sloppy lounge where anyone could come and have a conversation, and that is exactly how Carter wants to have his guests feel - like they are at home. Even though he would remain silent most of the time, the company of others around would certainly be enjoyable.

Now as you approach the desk, Professor Carter stops working and tilts his head up at you with his astonishing deep blue eyes and a sweet half-smile. "Hello there! What can I help you with today?"

I'm a first year Ravenclaw and I would like to be in your class. I hope I am on time in signing up. Please excuse my nervousness.

So much to do, so little time. Carter shuffled papers around on his desk, preparing his lesson for his first class already. He was too excited - after last term, he wanted to hold eighty-seven thousand classes! His train of thought was broken when he heard a timid young girl's voice come from the doorway. A grin widened across his face.

"Hello, Miss Black! Ah, a Ravenclaw..." A flicker of delight sparkled in his eyes. "Wonderful. Very wonderful. Of course you're on time! If you want to be a part of my class, all you have to do is show up. It's that simple! Would you care for a spearmint candy?" He offered, holding up a basket of spearmint flavored chocolate candies. "They're quite amazing. Muggle food, yes, but I just can't get enough!" he rambled on, taking one and unwrapping one for himself. Oh how spectacular it was to be back.

Kiki knocked loudly on the door and strode in. "Hi Professor Carter! I'm Kiki Suartez. I'm interested in signing up for muggle studies. I hope I'm not intruding," she said giggling. "Muggle studies is my favorite subject."

Alex knocked on the door softly, she was going to take her friends advise and sign up for Muggle Studies.

"Excuse me professor, my name is Alexandra Morgan, I'm a first year Slytherin, I was wondering if I could sign up to take your class?" Alex said to the professor.

Hey... they could even have a party. But his plans for a celebration were abruptly cut off when he realized he had not even greeted the Hufflepuff and Slytherin girls yet.

"Hello Miss Suartez, Miss Morgan." He nodded respectively at both of them before replying, "Of course you can! I'm glad to hear that it's your favorite subject, Kiki. But it's more simple than that - all you really have to do is show up. I have lots of fun in store for this term, so you won't want to miss it! Tell all your friends," he joked. Well, it wasn't even really a joke. They should tell their friends to attend Muggle Studies.

Alex listened to the professor, and made a note to ask L.J. if he would take the class with her.
"I'm looking forward to getting to know my mother's world a little more Professor." Alex told him.

"I can't wait!" said Kiki excitedly. "I'll be sure to tell my friends about it. Bye professor!" Kiki called running excitedly to her common room.

Loretta causiously knocked on Proffesor Carters door. She thought that she would need to learn how to behave like a Muggle if she was ever going to fit in in a community.
"Excuse me proffesor carter, my name is Loretta Fortenberry, I am very intersted in signing up for you class, is there a place free?" asked Loretta asked politely.

Hitachi finally found the office of the Muggle Studies Professor. He walked in to greet and meet the teacher. "Hello Professor, I'd like to say that I'm very interested in Muggle Studies and I look forward to your class." Hitachi said delightfully.

Maya knocked twice on the door and walked in, her designer clothes shimmering. She smiled her prettiest smile and said, "Hi, Professor Carter. I wanted to sign up for muggle studies." Even though she was so used to muggle things, she wanted to accel in something. She noticed the pens and pencils around his room and commented, "Nice pens. I'd have thought they wouldn't work around here... I guess not." She said out loud, admiring his collection.

"Thank you professor." Alex said smiling. "I am interested in the muggle world, my mother would take me to see my relatives and it's just so amazing how they live." Alex told him. "Oh, thanks, but no thinks, I can't really stand mints that much." She said as he offered her a chocolate mint.

Reese walked in the Muggle studies class and said,"Hello,Professor,I'm Reese Northway.A first year Slytherin and I'm looking forward to being in your class this year."Reese wiped the tears off her face,because she just came back from the lake,where she got the horrible news that her brother died today.

Professor Carter raised his eyebrows at the sight of this new Ravenclaw girl. He could not possibly be mean. "Of course you may take part in my class. Just as long as you're not dressed like that." He narrowed his eyes. "Are you aware that you're breaking the dress code? I could ship you off to detention right now for not wearing your assigned robes. I suggest the moment you leave this office you change back, because other professors might not be as gentle. This is your warning, young Ravenclaw."

Carter tilted his head slightly as he realized the girl was either crying or had previously been crying. He could not tell, but it broke his heart to see her in pain. He was not good with consoling kids, though. "Would you care for some chocolate? It has a mint flavor to it," he offered, not sure of what else to do to possibly cheer her up.

Sahrina knocked on the door and walked in. Seeing the Professor wasnt talking to anyone she smiled at him.
"Hello, Professor, My name's Sahrina Potter. I would like to take this class, even though I'm a half-blood, and grew up a muggle most of my life." She told.

Alex nodded. "It was fun, I miss them." She said to the professor. "I haven't seen them in about three years. As far as I know they live in London, at least they did when I last seen them." She watched at he placed the chocolates back on the desk. "Sorry professor, it's just that I can't handle mints that well."

"Ah, good afternoon Miss Potter. Yes, certainly. It doesn't matter that you're a half-blood, everyone is welcome! The first class will begin within the next week. I'd love to see you there, dear." He smiled at the student, excited at how many students suddenly seemed interested in taking his class. Many more than last term, it seemed.

Carter smiled and nodded as the girl spoke. "I see. Muggles are very fascinating. I'm sure that the time you spent with your relatives will help you be an amazing student in classes this year." Upon her mentioning the mints again, he chuckled lightly. "Don't worry about it."

Wednesday knocked on the door and came into the office. "Excuse me, professor," she said, in her Scotish brogue. She looked around at the room and saw other students. "I hope I'm not intruding, my name's Wednesday Addams and I'm interested in taking your class this term."

"Oh, I'm sure you will," Carter told Alex with a smile. Spotting the time out of the corner of his eye, he began to get a little antsy while turning to the Ravenclaw student that now entered his office. "Good day, Miss Addams. Ah, of course you're not intruding. I'm quite glad you're excited for my class - it shall begin very soon. Keep on the look out."

Kyle shot another glance at the time and sighed, rising to his feet. "I'm sorry, guys, but I'm afraid that I have to leave for a bit. You're welcome to come back another time, though. I'd love to have you," he told them all, sliding something off his desk and into his robe pocket as he passed. "I expect to see all of you in my class." He gently gestured to the door and after the last student exited, he locked the door and strolled off down the hallway.

Rebecca smiled as she walked into the office "Hi Professor" she beamed "Still, teaching then, i'm definately coming to your classes this year!!" Rebecca pulled out a pen "Look, i've even brought my own supplies this year" Rebecca sat down and smiled looking around the room. She then pulled out a poster and looked at it she then showed it to the professor "I've been watching this all through the holidays, it's called 'Doctor Who' have you seen it professor?" Rebecca smiled at the poster and looked up at the professor
