Emily smirked to herself as she appeared to be getting to Dan. An achievement on her part.. it was usually the other way round. She seemed, once again, to have hit a nerve with the dancing spell - this was good – very good. Unfortunately, her spell missed.. but only just. Emily reacted quickly as Dan pointed his wand above her head. She reeled around to see what he was aiming at - a book shelf above her… her eyes widened slightly. Was Dan trying to KILL her!? 'Gah!' Killed by falling books.. maybe there were worse ways to go though...? She swiftly pointed her wand at the book shelf “Reducto!” She cried, blasting the books apart. She would secretly mourn for them later. She turned back to face Dan, a scowl etched across her face. This duel was no longer fun. She pointed her wand at his wand. “Accio Dan’s wand..” She muttered. Time for a new tactic.

“Creo Ignem!” The fire spell literally burnt out the freezing cham; but, Apedemak didn’t send another attack spell towards his prone opponent. “Laying on the ground like that, not very lady like of you Prefect. On your feet please.”

It seemed that Ems and Dan were taking it in turns to go from looking smug to scowling. Dan watched the books fall , half hoping Ems would move or do something , the other annoyed half hoping for them to connect with her head, but she blasted them out of the way, Dans gaze dropped to Ems , ready to defend hhimslef, and then he flet his wand attempt escape from his hand , Dan gripped it but it pulled again, after a while it gave up and Remained sill , Dan glanced up at ems " What was that Ickle Emsy ?" he said in a mock baby voice "Petrificus Totalus"

"Bite me!" She stood and didn't waste time. "Aguamenti Maxima!" The continuous jet of water was as fast as she was.

He’d seen this trick before and had hoped that she might try it again. “Venalis Transistus!” The jet stream of water’s path was corrupted and ached back at the Prefect, even if she cut off the stream the water was still flying at her and now for the final touch. “Fulguritus!” The lightning bolt jumped from his wand and into the arching torrent of water heading towards the Prefect.

Emily watched as Dan’s wand attempted to leave his hand. It was pretty hopeless, but worth a shot. She shrugged when he tried to taunt her again, mimicking her baby voice from earlier. Emily was determined not to rise to it. She was better than that and better than Dan. Or at least that’s what she thought anyway. She blocked Dan’s spell and sprinted to the other side of the arena. If her spells were failing, than maybe she could use speed to her advantage. She skidded to a halt and cast the Conjunctivitis Curse without pausing to even take a breath.

Dan watched Ems in confusion as she sprinted away , what was she doing now, Dan couldnt tell what spell she cast , But Dan also lost sight of it and it hit him square in the face .... Oh Dear , Hes eye began to water , forming sticky solutions in the corners of his eyes , in the process he had also dropped his wand, he couldnt see her , but he was sure Ems was smirking.

Cassandra's jet of water was reversed on her and took her by surprise. Her small delicate frame was hurled back as she screamed "FINITE INCATETUM! Protego!"

She may have not been strong but she wasn't stupid! Deflecting the spell just in time, she still hit the back wall. She stood. Slowly. Glaring. She made a slashing motion with her wand. "Diffindo!" This time she aimed at him exposed skin and not at his clothing... as she had previously done.

He hadn’t expected that and his dodge came too late and the Prefect’s spell opened a large gash on his left arm. Apedemak stared at the wound for a long moment. “Kid gloves off then Prefect?” He pointed his wand at the wound. “Venalis Vitae.” The spell was barely above a whisper and the blood flowing from the wound turned black and ichorous as it flowed down his arm. The black blood didn’t drip from his fingers to the floor but instead began to pool around his fingers and slowly changed his hand into a vicious set of claws. He flexed the corrupted appendage, watching the alien digits slowly move. He spoke without looking at his opponent. “You’re quite certain that you wish to continue.”

She smirked.

"I should be asking you the same question... Do you need me to heal you?" she said raising an eyebrow.

His golden eyes stole away from the black talons that no replaced his left hand and gazed across the way at his opponent. “No Prefect, I require no aid. Are we dispensing with the child’s play and continuing this duel?” The vicious talons flexed involuntarily as if they were grasping at some unseen thing.

Cassandra cocked her head. She looked over to the professors, then back to her opponent. "Just duel..." She took her stance.

"Good curse." Xana smiled weakly, not sure if she was going to faint again or vomit. Maybe both.

"Sorry about the diffindo, there... " she looked at Dia's arm. "Do you need to go to hospital?"

Dia glanced down at her arm, which she had completely forgotten about. "Ah, don't worry about it. Only a slight cut...it could have been much worse. That could have been my neck." she grimaced.

Josh gave her a quick confused look as he then pointed his wand at the eagle." Reducto!" What was her deal with birds? she must really like them or something. That was two spells in a row. He looked to see the spell coming straight at him.Protego! He pointed his wand at her as he started to shoot spells her way .Incendio! He pointed to the ground where her robes where. He wasnt trying to start trouble just a mere distraction.Impedimenta!.One more wouldnt hurt.Incarcerous!

Xana laughed softly, closing her eyes as she started to pass out again. She breathed deliberately, deep even breaths, trying to steady herself. "I'm glad I usually cast too low, then. I hadn't thought of that..." she felt very guilty for slashing Diabolica's arm. "The crocodile was... that was downright wicked of you, really." She grinned in spite of herself.

Rhiannon watched the spells come toward her as Josh shrunk the eagle. She knew she had sent an awful lot of birds at the Slytherin, but didn't figure it was that big of a deal. Reading his wand movements, she figured that at least one of the spells was supposed to start a fire, so she pointed her wand at the hem of her robes, casting a quick Aguamenti, drenching the bottom couple of feet of her robes and therefore making it almost impossible for a fire to start. Quickly adding Protego to block the second spell, she ends up with mere seconds before the ropes reach her.

Thinking quickly, she casts a Freezing Charm and then thinks, Evanesco!, vanishing the now frozen ropes. Before trying to dry off her robes, she casts another spell. This time, she abandons going nonverbal, figuring that he'd know the spell anyway. She casts a Bat-Bogey Hex, and then casts a Hot Air Charm to dry off her robes.

From the other side of the duelling arena, Emily couldn’t tell whether her spell had hit or not. She squinted in Dan’s direction. She was sure it couldn’t possibly have, from that range, but then again, the boy had not retaliated… or maybe he had and his aim was rubbish. She started to walk cautiously back over to him, her wand held at the ready in front of her. Her spell had not hit… or so she thought. She aimed at the boy’s chest, “Flipendo!” she cried, the frustration of this duel was clearly audible in her voice.

James watched as Hitachi fell and cast ropes flying towards him. He pointed his wand at the ropes before they tied him.
"Incendio" he shouted. The ropes caught on fire and turned to ash at James' feet.
"Impendimentia!" he pointed his wand to Hitachi. A flash of deep blue erupted from James' wand and flew towards Hitachi maliciously.

Hitachi took notice of the spell and quickly casted: "Protego!" He smiled and said "I won't let you get me so easily." As James' spell quickly dissolved, Hitachi swiveled his wand and casted "Expelliarmus!" A jet of red light erupted from Hitachi's wand. The spell was pointed directly at James' chest. Hitachi didn't expect for it to hit him but it was necessary. Hitachi aimed at James' left side. Hitachi purposely casted "Stupefy!" to miss him. He did the same on his right side. "Stupefy!" Although those spells were going to miss him by many many inches, he casted them for a good reason.

“No.” He waved his wand over his left hand, the black ichor turns translucent and begins loosing its form, falling away from the hand. “You almost made me loose control too. Thank you for the duel Prefect Trelawney. It was a worthy challenge.” Apedemak bowed slightly before stepping off the mat. “If you will excuse me, I need to tend to this wound.”

Cassandra lowered her wand and bowed to him again. She walked to him, looking over to the professors and nodding in acknowledging them.

"It is I that should thank you," she said looking at his wound, "Would you allow me?" She looked in his eyes, "I'm rather good at healing spells."

Apedemak locked eyed with the Prefect, it took a moment to rid himself of the mind set that she was his opponent. They were off the mat and perhaps more important, this wasn’t his old school. “I will allow it.” He held out his left arm revealing the large gash inflicted by her last spell.

Cassandra took his arm in her little hand hand and waived her wand over the wound. "Episkey." The would closed and she ran a finger over it to make sure he wouldn't flinch. Then waiving her wand over it again she said "Tergeo." The remaining blood was cleaned off his skin. She ran a finger over it again... no scar. She smirked. "All better?"

He flexed his arm and test his hand making sure everything working properly. “You know you’re craft well Prefect. You’ve done well, my thanks for your ministration.”
