Dan glanced down at the first year, he seemed a little nervous, which Dan had never been before a duel strangley enough " yeah, sorry Ems has knackerd me " he said with a grin at her. " too good for poor me " he said as he moved to the side of the room to allow other duellers to step up.

What was the explicative the professor had used? Crabby? Crabby indeed, those spells were too close together to counter separately. “Creo Terram!” A wall of sand sprang into existence in front of Apedemak, he spun away from it and covered his eyes. The multiple stuns impacted against the wall exploding sand everywhere but enough of the wall remained to stop the levicorpus spell as well. It’s integrity gone, the wall collapses like a curtain cut from its hangings. As the top of the curtain falls past eye level he hurls his counter attack. “Petrificus Totalus!”

Gina stood in the corner hoping someone would ask her to be her partner. She had a new wand since her old one, which was her mother's, broke. She wanted to try it out. She watched a ton of sand fly into a guy's eyes and giggled softly to herself.

Xana felt herself start to be swept upside down. Oh, crikey, no! She quickly cast liberacorpus! and righted herself before she could be embarrassed- she was in a skirt after all, and the thought of being flipped upside down in front of everyone... "Dirty play, Black..." she grinned.

Quickly, she -- like the Emperor -- struck back. "Insubstantius Corpus!" she hissed.

ooc: this curse causes the body to become insubstantial, ghostlike.

Cassandra was getting tired. This boy had stamina! "Protego!" She said just in time... this duel needed to end. "Impedimenta!" she cast a little sloppily. She needed to disarm him... He was a good opponent, and she was exhausted.

Dia grinned back, almost not moving out of the way of the spell in time. Making a mental note of the incantation of said spell, she raised her own wand."Distraho Maximus!" she muttered, aiming her wand towards Xana, casting a stupefying spell as well.

ooc--this curse distracts the victim greatly.

Amelia was dazing over at the window, watching the blue sky and white clouds float by. Rainbows and sunshine and even those little droplets of water that land perfectly on the silk red dress. The air was crisp and beautiful, wind blowing gently in medium reddish hair. Then sharp green eyes shot open to the wondrous room of the dueling arena and the familiar voice of Josh's, Amelia was very good ... set ... also beating Amelia. Oh yea; it was a day dream. A magnificent dream, awoken to the sweetest of voices.

She looked from Rhiannon to Josh, who already seemed to have begun dueling. Strange. A second ago, she called Rhiannon over to choose. Her hand instinctively moved to her forehead, as she swallowed hard, "Well, I see you've taken it upon yourselves to start without me... Ah it's okay. I don't mind taking a break, haven't been feeling all that great these past few days anyway and that just took a toll on me. Stress."

Josh looked over to see that she complaining about how they had started without her." Well come on princess.. You two against me." he said as he was use to losing to girls. Three of them last year. What was two more? "come along Amelia. Dont want to leave you behind. Im sure you'll enjoy it."

That spell was sloppy and he simply side-stepped it. She lacked his stamina; it was time to press her limits further. “Flagrate!” Apedemak aimed the spell at her wand.

Xana quickly cast protego , ducking instinctively as she saw the second spell -- Stupefy again? Not a prayer, Black. Narrowly missing being hit again, she counterattacked again, moving into a graceful advance-lunge as she cast again, hissing: "Reversi Momentum!"

ooc: reversi momentum- reverses your momentum; everything the victim intends to do, they do backwards instead.

Dia had slowed for a split second to catch her breath, and apparently that was too long. Scowling as she was hit by the spell, as she had almost made it out of the way, she muttered, "!etiniF" and once again dropped down to the floor, moving out of the way of any other spells that might have been coming, and jumped up, moving back a slight step and straightening her posture. With a quick flick of her wrist, she thought, 'Petrificus Totalus!' ad quickly moved out of the way of the range of Xana's spells for the moment, casting an extra Confundus charm as well. Just in case.

The spell hit her wand and it made it hot to the touch. She dropped it, holding her hand to her chest. She glared at the boy. She bent down and grabbed her wand back. It was burning in her hand but she held it long enough to lift the spell. Prat she thought.

"Fine... you wanna dance? Let's dance!" She had to get her mind back on the duel! "Tarantallegra!" she said sending the spell straight for his legs.

With a lazy flick of her wand and a second upward tick she easily cast off the charms. "Oh, come on Black- you can do better than that. You're losing your touch..." she taunted playfully as she turned sideways and with a big sweeping motion cast, "Protego Horriblis!" around their arena so no stray insects could attack observers, then thrust her wand arm forward, crying, "Vespula effervo!" A swarm of angry wasps flew from her wand toward Diabolica.

ooc: vespula - derivative of vespula vulgaris, wasps. effervo- swarm.

First she tried to change how he looked, now she was demanding that he danced. It was almost as if they were married. “Rego Terram!” I puppet of sand sprung up from the remnants of the sand wall that stood only moments before. The Prefect had aimed for his legs, but the puppet was strategically placed in way. Their magic, in concert with each other, made sand simulacra dance away across the dueling room floor. Her hand would still not be pain free yet, push her further. “Creo Ignem!” The fire spell was intended to hit Prefect Trelawney robes making them burst into a small flame that would quickly spread where it not kept in check.

The spell hit the hem of Cassandra's robes. The fire started to crawl upward, she pointed at it. "Aguamenti!" She said a little more panicked than she wanted to lead on. She turned the wand to her opponent and said "Aguamenti Maxima!" A jet of water came out of her wand with the force of a fireman's hose.

A continues stream of water, he didn’t want to counter that. “Fulguritus!” The lightning bolt sprang from his wand and traveled straight into the stream of water and he dropped to the ground to avoid the now electrified jet of water.

Was he mad! Electrifying a stream of water? She was glad her hand was wood and therefor not conducive to electricity. She could have merely pointed the stream and the boy, now on the floor, and let his own spell, along with hers shock him... But she didn't want to hurt him.

She stopped the jet and looked at him. "On your feet please." She said waiting to cast her spell.

Drat, he had hoped the spell would have been powerful enough to jump from the water to her hand. He had been wrong, he needed a more powerful lightning bolt.

Apedemak smirked at the Prefect as he looked at her from his prone position. “As you wish.” There was plenty of sand still on the ground from his protective wall, that could be useful. He sprang to his feet, still smiling. “Very sporting of you, my thanks.”

Rhiannon made it look like she was taken off guard by Josh's spell. But, in seconds, she waves her wand, thinking Incendio! As she watched the ropes sent by his spell burn before they could hit her, she waves her wand again quickly, thinking Levicorpus!

She tilted her head to the side as she waited to see if her spell would hit Josh, fairly confident in her skills. That spell usually had worked on Jonathan, especially after she had worked on nonverbal spellcasting for a while. She then glanced at Amelia, who had good-naturedly complained about them starting without her, sending a quick grin to the Hufflepuff before returning her attention to the Slytherin boy.

He wasnt paying attention at all to Rhiannon... he was more focused on the complaining badger. He saw something out of the corner of his eye and turned to see a spell coming at him. He managed to move out of the way some what, but the spell managed to hit his arm."Finite." he said as his arm stopped from lifting. He eyed Rhiannon as he went back to his dueling stance." Join in anytime you like." he told Amelia as he then smirked. Non verbal... this is going to be a blast."Serpensortia!" he said watching her.

Rhiannon saw the snake headed for her, and thought Oppugno!, turning the snake back on Josh. This was going to be a blast. She follows her first spell with a second, Petrificus Totalus!. She tries to refrain from laughing outright. She hadn't had this much fun since she left her cousins back in the States.

Josh watched as the snakes turned against him. Incendio! The snakes burned to ash as he looked see another spell coming at him. Oppugno!He sent her spell back at her as he sent another one.Confundo! He followed the spell to see her laughing.This was going to be fun. Maybe he should start some fire.

Rhiannon stopped laughing as she saw Josh block herspell and try to rebound it at her. In quick succession, she casts two shield charms. The first does what it is supposed to and blocks her rebounded spell. The second only deflects the second spell, but gives her enough time to dodge to the side and avoid it. "Tricky!", she calls out. She starts to wonder if one of them would ever end the duel, but quickly comes up with a plan. She waves her wand in a complicated motion, casting Avis! shortly followed by Stupefy! her intent was that Josh would get distracted by the birds and neglect to avoid the stunning spell following them.

ooc: Night! The pinkness should be gone in a day or two. I hope.
