Kayla took out the little plant from the pot very carefully and then placed it into the new pot and placed soil around it. She went over and scooped out some fertilizer and placed it into the pot. She stood back and examined her work...well at least she hadn't broken it. Now all she had to was wait and see if it changed colour.

Qaz gently removed the plant from its pot, careful not to damage the roots. Placing it in its new home, she added more soil and carefully patted the new soil down. She sprinkled a little more fertilizer on the top of the soil. Next it would need a little water.

Juniper eased the plant from its pot, being very careful not to bump it or let any of its delicate parts tear. She brought it to the new pot, and gently set the plant down. That done, Juniper added soil around the plant, checking to be sure that there was some fresh soil on top of the original soil. She then scooped up a bit of fertilizer and sprinkled it into the pot. Now it needed water.

"Professor," she said, "It needs water now, doesn't it?"

"The petals do not change colors. It will blossom into whatever it's going to be when it does blossom. However, most tend to be one or two colors. A few have been three. One very rare one that I have seen was four."

"They should begin to bud some time during the next week or so. They will be in full bloom the week after. They should still be blooming by the time I return, however it's a good chance that I may miss seeing your plants in full bloom."

"That's correct." He gave her a soft smile. "Just a little to help it get acclimated. But you don't want to completely soak it."

That bud does have color! The tip of the bud looks like a light tan, but has a bit of blue in it. Looking closely at the other buds, she sees one with a deeper blue...

Emily looked up at Erikson and gave him a sweet smile. Maybe he wasn’t that scary after all.

She eased the plant out of the pot with her hand, loosing the soil with her fingers. Her fingernails were going to suffer for this... but what the hey - she was quite enjoying herself now. She placed the plant in the larger pot and added soil, neatly around the sides, pressing it down gently with her hand. Then went to get the fertiliser, 5-10-10, returning and gently sprinkling it on the top with a scoop as instructed. Then she added a little water..

‘There. Done and done.’ She thought with a nod as she brushed the soil off her hands. Now all she had to do was wait for it to bloom... that was, if it didn't die before then.

Xana placed soil into her pot and repotted the tiger lily, adding the requisite fertilizer. She understood why it'd be a bad idea for them -- Dia especially -- to plant one of the Konkagami plants, but still she wished that she could be working with the more interesting plants instead of tiger lillies. Oh well. She glanced up at Dia and gave her a small smile as she worked.

Cassandra followed instructions carefully. She was careful not to break up the soil. The last thing she wanted to do was damage the roots. Placing the plant in the center of the pot, she filled the sides and top with the soil. Cassandra looked at the fertilizers and read the labels... she pulled the 5-10-10 and with a scooper, she sprinkled it as she was told to, lightly on the top.

She smiled as she watched Alex work on his plant.

Juniper smiled back at the professor before giving the plant a little bit of water. Not enough to drench it, of course, but enough so that the soil was damp.

"Part of your homework will be to take care of these plants. If you think you are doing poorly, please research them. If you have problems, please ask your fellow classmates for help." He looked them all over then sighed slightly. "I will be traveling for a short time with a dear friend of mine. I'm going to leave the classroom open for a short time longer until I depart. You must take care of your plants until I return, at which point we will continue this particular lesson. However, I want a journal turned in of your plants and your care for them two weeks from today. Trust me, I will know when you have turned in your homework. If you have any questions at all for me, I would suggest you ask them during the remaining course of this lab."

Leaving... with a dear friend? Xana looked at him, surprised and more than a little concerned. She hoped to be able to secure a moment of his time after class to ask him about it... wondering if Slade was the friend in question and what was going on. She hoped everything was all right...

Torie had now begun her repotting again. She had already placed the small rocks on the bottom of the pot, and was now adding the pebbles to the top of that. Once she was finished, she scooped soil over the rocks, covering them completely. Now it was time for fertilizer. Torie went over to where the large selection of fertilizers were being stored and looked for one with the required ratio that the Professor had commented on. Finally spying one, she took a scoop from the bag and carefully brought it over to her pot and dumped it in. She went and returned the scoop, then began mixing the fertilizer gently into the soil so it was evenly distributed. There. Now it was ready for her plant!

Torie grasped the budded plant carefully around its stalk and pulled it gently out of its former home. She shook it a little to get the excess dirt off, then placed it gently into the hole she had made for it in the new pot. Once it was settled in, she placed more soil around the plant until the roots were once again covered and the plant was standing tall and firm in its new pot. Having given the soil one last pat, she dusted off her hands and looked around for a water can. She spied one over at the far end of the table and fetched it. She carefully watered the plant, making the soil moist, but not sopping. Torie smiled. Perhaps she had done alright.

Kayla looked down at her little plant and groaned softly. Great she had to look after it and write a journal on it, well that will be easy the plant will be dead in two days time of that she was sure.

Daphne carefully removed the plant, making sure the soil came up with it, too. She then plopped it into the newly arranged pot. She worried it was a little too rough, but she figured the plants could handle a little bit of "tough love".

She covered the base of the plant with some of the new soil and fertilizer. With this done, she finally looked at the plant. It was really pretty, and when it blossomed, it would be beautiful. She looked at the buds, hoping to get a peek at its coloured petals. Ready for the lesson to be over, Daphne grabbed a watering can and gently sprinkled water over the plant. So far, so good, she thought to herself.

"Well, as it seems that there are no further questions, you are dismissed. Again, I will have the lab open a while longer so that anyone who needs to speak with me about the class, or is working on their plant, may continue to do so." With that he moved to a corner of the classroom and leaned against the wall, thinking. Did he have everything? He almost felt bad that he assured them he would be returning.

Xana walked up to Professor Erikson. "Professor?" she asked softly.

He glanced up to her, the worry banished from his eyes, walls falling into place as he did so. He smiled at her, though his look said he knew what she was about to ask. "Yes, Xana. What is it?"

Cassandra was just about to gather her things and leave, when she saw Xana approach Erikson... She wondered what the Red Headed gorgon was up to... Cassandra pretended to work on her plant, her hands in the soil.

She bit her lip, trying to choose how to approach this. She didn't want to be intrusive... Oh, ok-- hell yeah she wanted to be intrusive! She wanted to be downright nosy. But she also wanted to be respectful. She quickly glanced around and cast the Muffliato charm. "I... I wanted to wish you a safe journey on your trip... and to ask, is it Slade that you're traveling with? And... is everything all right?" There was something in your eyes when you brought it up, and I'm worried. she thought but could not say.

Qaz mulled over the Professors words.

First, what would the plants need other than occasional watering and turning, so that they would grow straight?

Second, where was he going and with whom? It seemed to her that there were a lot of people leaving all of the sudden.

After she watered her plant, she pulled a piece of wood and her pocket knife from her bag and started to carve a marker for her plant. Being rather tired, she opted for her first name instead of her last. Soon, she had a little stake with the letters QAZ carved down the front. She stuck the stake in her plant and put it where it belonged.

Cassandra's ears filled with a buzzing sound. Curse Her! She cast Muffliato... Now she was suspicious, this obviously wasn't about the plants. Crud! Why wasn't there a counterspell!!

And then it hit her. Xana must be the "dear friend" he was going to be traveling with!!! Well, She'd know soon enough!

He nodded. "Slade and I will be traveling together. Something has come up, and I would rather not have him go alone. If we are lucky we should be back in a few months. If not..." He shook his head. "Well, either way it should not be a problem. There are quite a few students who will need your help. I would suggest you offer it to them."

ooc: for those curious, only about a month real time. I will be taking a short break to concentrate on school.

Alex cleaned up his area and waited at he door for Cassandra.

Her sapphire eyes widened at his statement. If not...? "Please... I don't mean to be intrusive... Okay, yes, I do. But only because I'm concerned about you, and Slade. What can I do to help you both? What's going on?" She knew it might be rude to ask, but she didn't care, if either member of her 'family' was in jeopardy, she wanted to offer her assistance.

Kayla looked around as the class started to file out. She would need help keeping this plant alive and the Professor said he was going away for a while...damn what was she supposed to do now. Xana's name sprung to her mind, she remembered Professor Erikson saying that Xana was good at Herbology. Okay so she would ask for Xana's help and she looked around the greenhouse and saw her talking to the Professor, she was always with the Professor. Should she wait or should she try and catch her another time.
