There's a fantastic live band playing all sorts of old and beloved favorites. They're located on the dias that the staff table usually sits, and the entire room is full of loud and boisterous music. The tables have been pushed back to allow for dancing, and everyone is doing their best to keep up with the band.
Grab a partner and get out on the floor. Shoes are optional. | |

Clifford struggled slightly as he made his way through the crowds on the dancefloor. Why anyone in their right mind would actually want to dance to this old muggle music he’d never understand.
It didn’t even look like she was here; surely he would’ve spotted her by now. He wasn’t entirely sure if this was a good or a bad sign though. He couldn’t help but feel glad that she wasn’t out here dancing with some random boy, even though he knew it wasn’t his place to be bothered anymore. But what if he had upset her so much she had felt the need to leave the Hoppy Sock dance altogether?
Maybe he should ask someone … and luckily he spotted Excelsior and his sister dancing close by and hurried toward them. “Um – Sorry to disturb your erm – dancing.” He apologised quickly. “I – I was just wondering if you’ve seen Evangeline around anywhere?” He asked, hopefully.

"Hey Clifford!", Excelsior exclaimed, seeing his friend here. "I was just dancing with my sister, you've met Monica before? Yeah, we were sitting with Evangeline just a little while ago over at the tables, she might still be here!" Excelsior hoped that Clifford and Evangeline were going to get back together for the holidays, he was really rooting for them.
The song neded. Excelsior felt a bit silly dancing to this unfamiliar music, and was glad for an excuse to be able to go back to the tables and sit down for a while. This was a whole new experience for him, he had never heard of a sock hop before and knew nothing about muggle dancing, he was actually being very adventurous today.

“Oh yeah. Hi Excelsior’s sister Monica.” Clifford greeted her without much attention. He was too busy concentrating in the direction Excelsior had pointed out. At the tables? And she had been there just a little while ago? That sounded hopeful, maybe she was still there.
He stood on his tip-toes, trying to see over the mob of scary dancers. This was no good, he was going to have to go over there and look. But what if she was there? He hadn’t planned anything to say yet! And Evangeline might think he was checking up on her and freak out.
He swayed slightly on the dancefloor as he brain worked overdrive – something it rarely did.

James walked in and saw Clifford. 1 down, 2 more to go. He walked over "Um...Hi Clifford, I'm sorry that I was being the emperor of the idiot empire last year and I hope you forgive me soon." He tried to make it quick, he really didn't like it when someone completely ignored him for more than a year. "Oh, and if you're looking for Evangeline, she was at the Buffet the last time I saw her" he said trying to be helpfull

Clifford’s jaw almost dropped open when the last person he had been expecting approached him. “Wow – Hi, James.” He said in surprise, but soon became greatly confused at his strange words. What in Merlin’s name was this? Had James resulted to crazy talk? “Emperor Empire Emperor of the idiot Emperor of the Emperor something Empire Idiot, what?” Clifford asked in bewilderment. Wow, that was certainly a mouthful.
“Evangeline? The buffet?” He frowned, spinning on the spot. That’s where he had just come from was it not? Maybe Evangeline had gone back there… Still spinning on the spot he rubbed his sore head, this was hard work

Clifford sighed and turned back to James, this was crazy, he had no idea where Evangeline might be, everyone was telling him different things and it’d take forever to find her when there were so many people around. Not only that, but he was now stuck in the middle of the dancefloor with James for company, that couldn’t look too good. He instinctively took a step backwards.
He frowned when James started talking slowly, “I heard you the first time I’m not stupid you know.” He retorted, a little offended; the slowness of his brain was a touchy area. “What on Earth is an Emperor of an idiot Empire?” He asked, slowly too.
