There's a fantastic live band playing all sorts of old and beloved favorites. They're located on the dias that the staff table usually sits, and the entire room is full of loud and boisterous music. The tables have been pushed back to allow for dancing, and everyone is doing their best to keep up with the band.

Grab a partner and get out on the floor. Shoes are optional.

Things couldnt be simple and striaght forward for Dan could they, he had been worrying about where Sera was all term and now she turns up in the middle of Dan and Katelyn Dancing great. And to make matters worse Katelyn had noticed Dans wondering eyes, Dan returned Seras smile . Katellyn pulled away from him, what made matters worse was he really couldnt tell what she was thinking, was she seriosuly upset or just joking. Dan spluttered for a while going a deeper shade of red. " dont be silly Kate .... " he said a little nervously. " She can see im dancing she wont expect me to go and talk to her , and even so your my girlfriend, i want to dance " he said smiling at her.

Katelyn raised her eyebrows, and sighed.
"No, go ahead! You havent seen her all term!" she argued back, and she laughed a bit as he said he wanted to dance.
"Yeah, sure, just go talk to her! I dont care, i promise!" she insisted, and smiled at him to show she wasnt upset. Well. She was a bit, but she wasnt thinking of herself, here. Dan had talked about Sera some during term and she wasnt going to hold him hostage to dance with her. She smiled again, and nodded towards Sera.

Seraphina bit her lip, looking a bit timid. Had he recognized her too? Did he even like her anymore? She was relieved when he smiled back but she wasn't sure what to say to him. He was in the middle of dancing and she didn't want to be a distraction. Hi, she mouthed to him, her mind blurring.

He glanced at Katelyn , and into her eyes , he was usually good at telling what people where feeling, he really didnt know what to do now. He considered asking Katelyn to come and talk with her too ... but this wouldnt really help matters. Dan glanced then from Katelyn across to Sera, whom he hadnt seen in a long time. " Listen Kate i-i d-dont stil like her , you know that right ?" He had to say it, just to make sure ... for some reason Dans mind was now full of thoughts about Luca .... stupid brain he thought to himself. " As long as your okay with it ... " he said as he looked back across to Sera, He hugged Katelyn he felt he had too " you can go talk to Ems, she doesnt look too happy" , he said as he nodded towards the Slytherin table with a weak smile.

He made his way over to Sera, in the short space of time that it took to walk over to the girl he racked his brain for the last time they had spoke ... he vaguley rembeer her crying on his shoulder ... he knew for sure he didnt have the cut scaling the length of his cheek then, this would surely catch her attention. " Hey Sera " he said with what wasnt a put on smile. He sat down next to her and glanced across the dancefloor to see Katelyn walking away , he turned back to Sera " where have you been all year ?"

Katelyn patted him on the back and smiled. Silly boy. He should know she wouldnt get mad at him! Not at him..she watched him walk off to talk to Sera and she trugded back to the Slytherin table.Ems would be there...hopefully. She gave the two a smile as she walked.

That meant he wouldn’t be able to hear her heart beating, which would only make things more embarrassing. Her face was inches away from him which was still slightly weird, and his sweet scent was making it harder to think straight. Oh Merlin, please don’t let me make a fool of myself.

“The position, yeah.” She nodded, at least they were like the other couples. When he asked her what happened next, she wrinkled her nose. “I’m not sure…” She admitted looking over at Kate and Dan who were twirling around and dipping. There was nooo way she could do that without falling over. “I – I think we should stick with swaying from side to side.” She told him with a nervous small chuckle. “I don’t want to end up tripping and falling in the middle of the dancefloor.”

Dan smiled warmly at Sera taking in her appearence, already her strange background had come out shes been here but visiting her father ? whats that supposed to mean he thought to himslef but smiled on through it. Dan caught her eyes flicker onto his cheek " ive been okay yeah .... " there was too much to explain about the year, maybe he could another time. " i was ... a bit worried you know , i hadnt seen you since last year " he said trying not to sound too concerned , not to give Sera any ideas that he still liked her, it was true though that he was worried about her.

"Swaying from side to side?" Clifford repeated, his body loosening a little as he finally begun to relax. He hadn't noticed just how tense he had been. Still holding tightly onto Evangeline he started to sway gently on the spot, hoping he was doing this whole dancing thing right.

Now he was actually moving, he found it difficult to watch the other dancers and he fixed his gaze on Evangeline's face. Well, he thought it'd be safe. He suddenly realised the close proximity and felt his face burn with embarrassment.

He couldn't believe it. He was actually dancing. In the middle of a crowded dancefloor. With a girl!!! How on Earth had he got himself in such a mess? "Th - This is - um - very .... fun." He mumbled as he tried to concentrate on the swaying. Talking and swaying wasn't easy.

"Well, I've been sort of helping him and the others near the Hufflepuff common room." Sera answered with a shrug. "I know, it's kind of a boring excuse but that's all I was really doing." I wish I could stay here with him, she thought, thinking of the elf. He's a lot sweeter than my foster parents. "You don't have to worry about me..." she said, fixing the sleeve of her robes. She could tell he was trying not to make a big deal out of showing appreciation for her reappearance but she didn't care.

Dan glanced at Sera, there was definatly something wierd going on with her but he was not one to pry onto other peoples private lifes. " i cant help but worry about my friends " he said with a warm smile. He thought for a while about what she had said , helping her father down by the hufflepuff common room? Dan had never been down there, he didnt even know that area of the school at all well, wasnt that somewhere near the kitchens. " does your brother still not like me " he said with a nervous laugh, he was slowly remebering things, he never realised how difficult it was to remeber things that happened a year ago. As Dan remeberd her brothers words where " your not good enough for my sisster "

"I feel the same way..." she replied with a shy smile. It flickered at the mention of Ringo and she sighed. "I haven't gone to visit him at Saint Mungo's since last year. It doesn't matter what he thinks of you, I like you." Her bluegreen eyes glittered.

As Clifford started swaying on the spot, Evangeline followed him, falling into step with him and trying hard not to mess up. It didn’t look that hard. Gradually, she felt herself relaxing, Nevertheless, her hand that was in Clifford’s was getting slightly sweaty. And she had a feeling it wasn’t because of how warm the dancefloor was.

Looking up at him, she realised he was looking at her and by the look of it, he was quite embarrassed. She couldn’t understand why though. Was it because they were so close? It was most likely because he was dancing though. Well, she knew why her cheeks were warm. Being this close to him was starting to affect her.

She chuckled lightly, still looking up at him, when he said it was fun. “Fun, yeah. As long as none of us ends up in the Hospital Wing.” Suddenly realising she had forgotten to move while she was speaking, she quickly started swaying along with him again, now even more embarrassed. “Sorry about that.” She mumbled under her breath. She was still standing on her feet though. And that had to be good.

Dan avoided the glitter in her eye, he ran a hand through his hair " oh.... " not knowing what else to say on the subject of her brother he steered well clear of it and picked a nice and safe subject. " ive still got that Slytherin ring you gave me " He said with a smile, it was in his bag which was over at the Table. Dan still couldnt help but think about the strange circumstances of her absesnce during the year, then her pointed ears sparked a thought in his mind, The kitchens .... house elfs .... surely not ...

That was pushing things a little too fast.

His overly warm hand clenched a little too tightly around Evangeline's as he quickly balanced himself and he stepped on something too squishy to be the ground. "I'm so so so so sorry." He said, horrified that he had trodden on her foot.

"That's nice that you kept it," she commented, blushing a little. The way he was looking at her made her feel a little self conscious but there really was no reason to. Despite her heritage, she was very pretty.

He put his punch-free hand in his pocket, feeling a Screaming Yo-Yo that he had forgotten to take out before he left the Boy's Dorm. He looked down and quickly put his hand out of the pocket before the yo-yo started to scream loudly. He looked back up at Amelia and smiled. Pointing down at her bare feet, he guessed, "I take it your feet are killing you."

Evangeline was now realising that dancing wasn’t that bad, it was turning out to be quite fun actually. And she had to admit that she was quite proud of herself for being able to stand up for so long. Maybe her feet thought she had already fallen enough times this year and therefore would spare her from now on. Hang on…Feet don’t think! Great, she had now resulted in thinking nonsense. She wrinkled her nose, blaming the sweet mixture of cookies, chocolate and cinnamon which was coming from Clifford.

She chuckled and nodded her head. “You’re right. We could end up hurting random people.” She said as she watched him look around. “That’s why we really shouldn't move arou-“ It all happened to fast then. One second he was stumbling, then he was clinging onto her hand so tighly that she was surprised it hadn’t cut the blood supply and then he was stepping on her foot.

“Ouch!” She cried and stopped moving. She shifted all of her weight to her other foot and shook her head when he apologised. “It’s alright.” She assured him, it was true. The pain on her foot was already decreasing intensity. “It was just an accident.” She couldn’t help to notice he looked quite horrified.

Dan played around with the thought that Seras dad could be a house elf for a while, not that there was anything wrong with it but where house elfs even capeable off reproducing ? well obviosuly they are you idiot otherwise were do they all come from he thought to himself. " I wouldnt get rid of it ! " he said to Sera " i keep it in my bag " He used to keep it around his neck but now there was the emerald D shape and a small locket around his neck which were both visable over his jumper. " So, who are you staying with over the summer ?" He knew that she had foster parents but now she had found her father what would happen.

Although they had stopped swaying, Clifford kept a firm grip on Evangeline. One hand remained snugly in her hand, the other on her waist. This was just a precaution of course - incase he had hurt her foot and she couldn't stand of her own accord.

"Are - Are you really sure?" He asked, looking down at her with concerned eyes. "I mean - I don't know if you've noticed ... but I happen to eat quite alot. And - It can't be comfortable when someone who eats as much as I do treads on your toes." He chewed his lip nervously, his brow furrowed with worry. "Maybe - Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. I don't - I don't want to hurt you.." Yeeeaaah.. Cause you've never done that before, something in his mind invaded his thoughts, making him frown.

Evangeline, who had been expecting him to let go of her when they stopped dancing, couldn’t help to feel thankful when he didn’t. Using the hand that was on his shoulder to support herself, she lift the foot he had trodden on and moved her toes. Well, it didn’t seem like they were broken.

“Yes, I’m sure.” She assured him once again, placing her foot back on the ground but supporting her weight on her other foot and on him. Maybe it was time to have a break from all the dancing. “I wouldn’t exactly call it comfortable, but I think I’ll survive.” She chuckled. Her laughter came to an end however when he said he didn’t want to hurt her. Somehow it had reminded her of something. Something she really didn’t want to think about. What was she supposed to say? She couldn’t say he had never hurt her because that’d be lying. And she couldn’t say he hadn’t hurt her because somehow it’d seem as if she was talking about that.

With a sigh she looked up at him and gave him a weak smile. “Stop worrying so much, I’ve had worse believe me.” She wasn’t quite sure of what she was referring to. "But I suppose we can stop if you want to." She shrugged.
