There's a fantastic live band playing all sorts of old and beloved favorites. They're located on the dias that the staff table usually sits, and the entire room is full of loud and boisterous music. The tables have been pushed back to allow for dancing, and everyone is doing their best to keep up with the band.
Grab a partner and get out on the floor. Shoes are optional. | |

In his mind, Cora had already won. It was tiresome to battle her, as the weather of her soul constantly changed from a fearsome tempest to a warm July sunset. This was getting too complex to Keith for, hence his noncommittal nature from the start.
"Thank you," he replied, no vanity invading his voice, but rather the disinterested listlessness. Keith's head was whirring for an excuse to leave and find another girl that might enjoy dancing on this occasion. "Yes, a dagger in your shoe, and acid in your eye. Well, no, that sounded like a cheesy Muggle rock song, so I take that back." The blaze in her eyes, what she might have thought to affect him, did nothing. The apathetic creature he was, Keith's face betrayed no emotion yet. Her smile was nice, just a plain, sparkling smile that most girls had gotten the hang of. "Well, if I can't persuade you for a chance, I had better..." he trailed off as he saw another boy, that, mind, looked uncomfortable enough with his choice of fashion much less being here. He seemed to know Cora. A perfect time to leave, now that she was in the hands of a better acquaintance. "Actually, no," he retorted acidly to the boy. "Not unless you hope for a dance. This young lady already made it clear that she has no intention of doing so and rejected all my attempts at friendly conversation." He smirked and stick his hands into his pockets as a parting gesture. "I should hope you have better luck with her," he said to Marco. "But knowing her and seeing you, I've got a pretty good bet who will sink and who will swim." With that, he half-saluted the couple and meandered off to the other side of the dance floor, holding back a fit of laughter, should Cora hear and reprimand him.
Keith migrated to the other side of the room and leaned against a pillar, staring absently at the ceiling The bemused smirk on his lips was still present. That was an odd bunch if there ever was one. Keith forgot all about chasing some other girl, and instead put the effort toward unscrambling his head.

"I said NO because I thought that you wouldn't be able to handle me." She said, dangerously quiet. "It appears that there's more to you than I thought."

Keith's eyelids rose lethargically, when he heard Cora's voice next to him. Once his green eyes were focused on her, the smirk turned into an all out grin. "I've been wrong about you as well," he replied, not caring to explain the choice of words. Cora was pretty much like a hockey puck. She wasn't any better at keeping her heart under her sleeve instead of on it than he was. His advanced contumacy deluded him that Cora didn't really know that Keith could disappear just as quickly as he came. "Handle you?" he mused jocularly. "I shouldn't think so. After that little performance, I'd idolise the person that could." Keith's eyebrows shot up further into his shaggy dirty blonde bangs and he gave her an inquisitive look. "More to me than you thought? Well, m'lady, I've got nothing but time on my hands. Do explain, please. Unless of course..." he averted his eyes to Marco for a moment, turning away quickly at the urge to laugh at the boy's radiating innocence and naive spirit. Goody-two-shoes personafied. "In that case, I bid you a good evening."

Cora's eyes travelled over Keith's face carefully. She wasn't sure whether to trust him or not. She felt an unevering longing to hit him when he called her 'm'lady'. Her fists tightened, but she stayed calm.
"To be honest, I may not be biting your ankles anymore, but I wouldn't dance with me for your own safety."

"Thank goodness, those bite marks were really getting to bother me!" he lamented, but laughed soon afterward. "Be honest, Cora, you're not dangerous. If clumsy is what you call dangerous, then I don't care." He bit his lip and wondered if he should share that he was a bit of a klutz as well. That would certainly take a few vanity points from him. But he really wanted to dance with her all of a sudden. "It's a chance I want to take, if you'd please offer it to me," he said in a such a kind voice that it was hard to believe that Keith Kroeger was speaking. "You won't have to visit me in the Hospital Wing or anything," he promised, raising his right hand to perform the vow and then extending it for her to take. "What is a dance if the wallflower never overcomes her fear?"

Keith was beaming as she, though reluctantly, stretched out her hand and attempted to take it...when something went wrong. "Cora..." he began, but stopped when the girl ran out on him just as suddenly as she came. Keith had half a mind to chase her, but he couldn't handle all the mind games. Using the fancy vocabulary, which half the words he didn't truly know, and the philosophical quotes was terrorizing his usually feeble train of thought. "See ya around..." he muttered, wandering over to a snack table to grab a butterbeer.

Jaydens heels clicked as she danced. After a while she opened her eyes. Some people were still dancing but not alot. Feeling a bit weird dancing by herself in the middle of the floor she put her arms down and stopped dancing. SHe started walking toward the tables. Tonight had been a bust She was hoping to make some new friends but instead had made none.

Gemma Jewels entered the dance hall, as usual, drawing both attention and snickers. She made her way towards the middle of the floor, and grinned shyly at the older students, the third year a tad intimidated, but, eager to make friends. “Hullo!” She called, to no one in particular, her breathy, high pitched voice drowned out by the pounding volume of the music, which caused the floor to shake under her as if they were experiencing an earthquake. Most of her pale legs were covered with a brilliant, sequined, rainbow skirt that caught any drifting shaft of light and reflected it to blare and beam across the walls, practically blinding those who were unfortunate enough to catch one of these man made rays. On the left edge of her fascinating skirt, was sewn a hot pink unicorn, the horn a majestic cerulean, with rose sparkles embedded into it. The wearable disco ball was an adaptation of a poodle skirt, which, as usual, was hand made by the insane Ravenclaw. Her blouse, thankfully, wasn’t nearly as bright, being a plain white collared shirt, with the random sticker pasted onto it, leaving some chance of being able to look at her without the danger of rupturing your retina. Her hair was pulled back into two spunky pigtails, that were tied off with loyal Ravvie blue ribbon, the blonde and black locks bouncing whenever she cocked her head, moved, or breathed. Her sheepdog bangs stretched across her forehead, brushing the tops of her eyebrows, and drawing to her spectacular, gleaming golden eyes, which were speckled with caramel hues. Her pale pink lips were stretched in a wide smile, the sunny expression brightening all the more. In all, her look was alarming and cheery, but in it’s own, unique way, beautiful, very similar to the person the skirt, shirt, and white Keds shoes clothed. Perching rhinestone studded, sock hop glasses upon her petite nose, she twirled around, not necessarily dancing to the tempo of the music, rather, the rapid, excited beating of her heart.

Touy saw a 3rd year guy Hufflepuff dancing alone so she went up and joined him. Just as she got there some other girl pushed past her and started to dance with him.
So much for that she thought maybe I should just bag it and head out.
