Professor Shackleton reached the front of the room once again and, turning to her students, spoke clearly, "As was mentioned, the Birth Day number is simply the sum of the digits of the day you were born; however, this reduced number is not the only element to consider when deciphering the meaning of your Birth Day number. You must also look at the actual number of the day you were born. Let me give you an example."

Professor Shackleton lifted her wand and began writing numbers in the air:

Professor Shackleton turned to Kerry and requested, "Could you please write your own birthday information on the board in the same format that I have written here?" She then turned to the class and said, "You all can do the same for yourselves in your journals."

Excelsior added the numbers of his birthday together, 1 + 9 = 10. That was easy, 1 + 0 = 1. He quickly realized that his birthday number was 1, and wrote that information in his journal. From studying the materials, he knew the exact number, 19, also played a factor is his destiny, so he wrote that number down, as well as the full mathematical equations and the number 1.

Ryan looked up at the board. Easy peasy! In his journal, he wrote:

Seems easy enough, Ryan thought to himself.

Emily wrote in her journal:

Sana Started to work out her B'day as the Given format.

After finishing this she looked around the class to see her friends for the first time today.

Touy quietly wrote down 18 1+8 = 9 . That was one of her favorite numbers maybe that was a good sign. She turned and look at her seat mate.

Kerry stood on her tip toes to reach as high as she could on the board so her classmates could see. "Man, I really wish I was taller," she laughed as she began to write

"Oooh 7! That has to be a lucky number!" She said aloud as she finished writing. "How'd I do Professor?"

Patrick wrote down the required numbers.


Fair enough. A nine.

Zoraida wrote quickly in her journal some notes on the birthday number then her own. It was really easy to figure out as it was a single digit day so she wrote 6. Then looked back up and around at the back of the class seeing who was around. Noticing a few others that she recognized around she went back to doodling in her journal.

Austin wrote in his notebook.

Professor Shackleton clapped her hands together and said, "You've done beautifully, Miss Brandywine. Now I have one more request to ask of you before you can return to your seat. I will explain in just a moment."

She then turned to the class and spoke aloud, "I presume each of you have found your Birth Day numbers by now. I would like you all to reference your textbooks, specifically the chapter about this topic, in order to determine the meaning of your Birth Day Number. I will read aloud what the book says about my Birth Day number. First I will read about my reduced number, 4."

Professor Shackleton picked up her copy of the text book and read, "You have a strong desire for security and stability and a firm belief in strong foundations. You are both practical and reliable, as well as fair and honest. You are self-disciplined and hardworking." Looking up from her textbook, Professor Shackleton clarified, "Now this information applies to anyone who has a 4 Birth Day number, which means anyone born on the fourth, thirteenth, twenty-second, or thirty-first. Though useful, it isn't very specific - which is where looking at your actual birthdate comes into play."

With the textbook still opened in her hands, Macadrian began reading again, "A twenty-two birthday indicates that you will be called to plan, organize, and lead large projects. 22 is a Master Number and it says you are very competent and must use your intuition and practical solutions to manifest things that benefit humankind." Professor Shackleton closed the book and placed it softly on her desk.

She turned once again to her class and clarified, "Do you see how this extra bit of information makes the number more personalized? And this number makes some sense for me, as I frequently am planning and leading this class, as well as the Gobstones club, and previous ventures in my career at Gringotts. The benefit I give to humankind is the education I provide young thirsty minds like yourselves!"

Professor Shackleton winked playfully and continued, "Now, Miss Brandywine, could you please read aloud from the textbook on my desk, the meanings of your Birth Day number, just as I have done? And class, I would like you all to look up the meanings of your numbers and take notes on them. Be sure to evaluate whether or not they seem accurate and applicable to your life currently or in the past."

Zoraida looked up her number. Not that she had to turn the page as she had looked it up before as she was writing the answer to the first question. Zora was definitely creative and artistic. As well as family oriented. Responsible was also associated with her number. Perhaps it was something she would grow into.

Kerry listened to directions and the explanation of the Professor's birthday. "Reliable, practical, fair and honest." she heard, "hmmmm, that does sound a lot like the Professor. Interesting." she thought as she approached the book and looked to see what her birthday number had meant.

Kerry quickly found the number 7. She cleared her throat, quickly and began to read, "If your birthday is the 7th, 16th, or 25th day of the month. You search for depth and meaning in all that you do and see. You are analytical by nature, which causes you to take longer than most to make a decision. Meticulous, pensive, and private, you need to be surrounded by natural settings of solitude and silence for rejuvenation."

She paused to allow her classmates to take in what she had just read and then looked down at the book and began to read what the meaning of the number 16 meant for her, "For those born on the 16th," Kerry began to read, "You may find your life brings sudden (even traumatic) events that act as catalsysts, wake-up calls to look at your life more honestly. You insist on independence, need time to rest, meditate, and contemplate. You may have an unusual interest in the technical, scientific, metaphysical, or spiritual subjects. You may be seen as a perfectionist and as unusual or different."

Kerry chuckled, "Wow, I search for depth and clarity in things, I also tend to look for meaning in things, contemplating those meanings? A prefectionist?" Yup that does sound just like me. Although the unusual interest thing I'm not sure about, but overall -how cool is all this?" Kerry nodded, impressed with what she had just read.

"This is amazing. Are the numbers usually this accurate for people Professor?"

"Hmmm, you have a tendency to be self-centered and an inability to see yourself in relation to others. You will be tested to respond with benevolence and empathy and to contribute to the amelioration of others. You have executive ability, although often unconventional, a superb mind and your public and private life will vary greatly. You do not give up easily and will have obstacles to climb before reaching a strongly desired leadership position," Excelsior wrote. "Let me see," he thought. Self-centered and inability to see yourself in relation to others, yes, I'm afraid that's probably true. Sometimes I'm not that symphathetic, I suppose, though I'd like to be. I think I have a good mind, though some people don't always recognize it. And I certainly don't give up easily and would LOVE to be in a leadership position," he thought to himself. Yes, the birth information was surprisingly true, he realized.

Austin wrote in his notebook

Emily flipped through her textbook, then, once she found what she was looking for, wrote in her journal:


She didn't think it was totally correct, but most was, so she was happy.

Excelsior knew the number 1 would be more general, but he noted that information, as well. "You want to be first and individuality is most important with you. You are both forceful with your ideas and good at giving orders - but not at receiving them. Innovation is your middle name!"

"Well, I do like to be first, but I'm not sure how good I am at giving orders. I really don't like to receive them, though. Innovation, yeah, maybe." He decided the description for the number 19 was right on the money, and this was good but not quite exact.

"Yes I'm independent and I try to be broadminded and generous but a born leader they there must be a mistake she was to shy to be a leader." she mumbled. See look at Sana to she what she had come up with.

Lily was born on the 12th, so she wrote this down in her journal:
That's not completely like me, she thought, but pretty much right.

Sana flipped her text book to find her B'day date meanings....

As per 23rd = 5 she got..

She wonder How accurate the predictions was. absolutely Wonderful..she almost gasped. Slowly she turned to her desk mate Touy and smiled, "It's so wonderful, I'm astonished"

Professor Shackleton grinned as she watched Kerry and the other students realizing how amazingly accurate the numbers often are. She replied to Kerry's question, "The numbers are often extremely accurate and almost always at least partly true. For those of you who feel that there are aspects that do not match who you are now, there is always the possibility that as you age and mature, these qualities or characteristics will ring more true."

Professor Shackleton paced the room, glancing at the students' journals once again. Remembering that Kerry was still in the front of the room, Macadrian looked to her and said, "Thank you very much for all your help, Miss Brandywine. Four points to Gryffindor for your assistance! You may take your seat now."

Brushing her bangs from her eyes, Professor Shackleton requested, "I would like you all to finish up finding the textbook's meaning of your Birth Day Number, as well as evaluating its relevancy to your life currently. I will give you a bit more time to be sure that you have done it properly and completely. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask."

OOC: I am heading off to bed for the night! The class will resume tomorrow morning (EST) and run throughout the entire day. Please continue to post your work but keep the chatting to a minimum. I am gone, but my character is not, so if you chat too much, house points may be taken!

"Well it will be interesting to see if I grow into those remaining characteristics," Kerry nodded once again. "And you're very welcome Professor, I was happy to help out." She gave a smile and a quick bow to the class in fun, and returned to her seat to jot down the notes she had just read aloud so she would have them for further reference later on.

Sana do you really think I will grow into a leader? I barely talk to anyone except if its about quidditch, and then only briefly. The astonishment of finding the meaning of her birth number made her utter her thoughts out loud.

Sana nodded at Touy, "I strongly believe, Touy. You have that ability and Caliber. You'll get used to move with others so soon, I'm sure" She complimented as she gone through her journal again.
"And what do you think abt mine. See" she handed over her journal to her and slightly chuckled.

Carefully reading want Sana had written in her journal Touy turned to her friend. "Wow that does sound like you. You are creative and sensitive and very curious. I also think you like danger just a little. I sure like this class but its kinda scary to find out all these things you have hidden inside you. Professor Shackleton is very different."
