Kerry thought about this for a few moments, "I guess for the most part the number four rings true for Hogwarts. In the beginning it was four very different witches and wizards coming together to build a foundation for students to learn together, they organized things the way they thought would best suit the students. They shared their wisdom and knowledge to teach us, and professors still do today, as well as they teach us the practical side of magic, too. I guess it's just the discord of Salazar Slytherin only wanting pure bloods being taught here and leaving the school... that kinda detracts from it a bit.. but then again I think the power and the politics of that fit well with the number four too, come to think of it."

Lexi thought for a moment, then raised her hand. She said, "Yes, I think that it really does fit. Foundation, well, because 4 people founded the school. Stability because the school is still around, and so are the 4 houses. And also many of the other traits of power, practical, wisdom, are what the founders were known for. Also, when the school was founded, there had to be good management and hard work, and even today, to keep a school of our size running there has to be hard work and good management on all levels."

She smiled, she felt pleased with her answer.

Claudian raised his hand. "Certainly, Professor. Without any of the characteristics associated with the number 4 we might not have a Hogwarts as we know it. Each key word lending it's strength to one another, perhaps where the other isn't as strong. In much the same way, there is a sense of balance between the four houses of Hogwarts." He hoped that made sense.

'I think that there are qualities of the number four in each of the houses - and also, there's four houses. Hufflepuff is known for hard work, Ravenclaws, their wisdom, Slytherins crave power and Gryffindor was powerful - the two qualities, but both used in a different way. Also, there was an element of foundation in them all - after all, they founded Hogwarts!' Ari said, still chewing her quill (which tasted foul, incidentally).

Saylie thought about that one, "There are 4 founders, 4 houses, 4 symbolizes foundations, putting things into form, and power. Maybe the 4 founders were needed to balance each other, each bringing their own important peices to the whole. Maybe the continuing power of Hogwarts is due to the fact that it is so well balanced to the number that brought it about. Four started it, and four continues to run it, so it is able to smoothly transition due to it's organization." She hoped that made sense, at least it sounded logical in her head.

Professor Shackleton was now grinning from ear to ear. She exclaimed, "I am so proud to be teaching such intelligent and insightful students! Your theories and explanations were all absolutely wonderful and pose very valid points! Lovely job!" Their responses to her question were so wonderful, she could have cried. She didn't, because that would have just looked plain silly, but she could have. She was overjoyed with the level of understanding in the room and knew that this was going to be a great term.

Beaming, Professor Shackleton continued, "Let us move on to the number seven. This number is known to represent analysis, research, solitude, wisdom, spiritual focus, investigative, and the mystical. What historical arithmancer discovered this number's magical properties?"

Ryan wasn't sure if he had a clue of what he was about to say but took a change anyway. "I believe the number four might have a big influence on the principal of which was base the fondation of this school. The four different house put together give us everything that this number is about which is foundation, organization, power, pratical and wisdom."

"I believe it was Bridget Wenlock!", Excelsior exclaimed.

"Bridget Wenlock discovered the properties of number seven in the 1200s"Jess replied.

Claudian put up his hand. "Professor, I believe the person who discovered the number 7 was the 13th Century arithmancer Bridget Wenlock."

Shel raised his hand. "Bridget Wenlock in the 1200's, Professor," he stated politely.

Emma raised her hand once more as a name came to mind. "Bridget Wenlock!" she chirped.

Isabella shot her hand up and said, "Bridget Wenlock discovered the magical properties of the number seven in the 1200s."

Kerry raised her hand, "Was it Bridget Wenloc?"

"Bridget Wenlock" Cassandra said raising her hand

Sini began jotting down all of her fellow classmates responces, this class was really teaching her something. Hearing Professor ask another question, she raised her hand and responded, "Bridget Wenlock discovered the properties of the number 7."

Heather put her hand up"I believe it was Bridget Wenlcock,"she said.

Sabrina didn't know this answer. Somehow her brain seems to have misfunctioned. Ah well. She was here to klearn. She sat there quietly as she heard everyone's answers and waited for Professor Shacklebolt's reply before she scribbled them down.

'Was it Bridget Wenlock?' asked Ari.

Saylie's hand shot ingto the air again, she loved this class, "Bridget Wenlock." She grinned, this class was fun!

"Was is Bridget Wenlock, Professor?"

Lexi wasn't entirely sure of her answer.

"You are all correct. One point to each of you.

"It is because of Bridget Wenlock's work in the thirteenth-century that we know today which characteristics are associated with the number seven. From these qualities, we know which flowers are accurate representations of this number - lavender for silence, rose-scented geranium for preference and discernment. What other flowers do you think represent the number seven's qualities and why?"

"Wasnt it in the 1200's, Bridget Wenlock, i think " Ginny sugested.
