Scattered about the classroom were various pots, types of soil, and seeds of all varieties. There were also little sealed boxes at each station. Try as you might, there are no opening these. Not until they are unsealed, at least. The boxes seem to exude heat, as though there were a fire within the box.

Erikson walked around, checking on various containers, and making sure a good deal of them were sturdy enough. This would be an interesting class period, he was sure. Once he was certain everything was set, he went to check on his supply of dragonhide gloves.

Celestina placed a fist against her mouth and wheezed. The idea of someone who wasn't her not understanding the lesson was ridiculous. But this meant she wasn't as daft as people thought she was after all.

And because keeping her mirth in was becoming troublesome she fanned herself, tears in the corner of her eyes.

Not getting an answer, he continued on. "Please, do speak up if you have questions, rather than chattering about in my class."

He tapped the board, indicating the current list of things they'd discussed.

Rapunzel quickly scribbled down everything the class had discussed thus far. Although she didn't really have a clue where this was going.....

"Maybe plants could be a possible means of finding a cure for various diseases, thus making them very important medically?", Excelsior ventured, wanting to help add to the list.

He nodded. "That can certainly be added to our list," he said, adding "Medical needs" to the list. "Three points to Slytherin."

"Good! Now, let's start with different methods of magical manipulation. People have already mentioned some charms. What other things or methods could we use to alter a plant?"

After righting down the notes Austin said, "Could a reason for experimenatation be to try to find cures for magical mishaps that cannot simply be reversed, such as Mandrake root is able to revive the petrified?"

That seemed a comprehensive list... Cassandra merely smiled and kept quiet. She watched the professor. She loved when he intimidated other students... it showed his power.

Hmm. Agie wasn't sure what else she could add, she however still raised her hand and said "They can even animate plant life. You can allow plants to grow and flourish is whatever conditions possible. So the plants can grow at any time of the year. They wont be affected by the seasons. "

Prudent silent the wiser thing to do, Claudian scribed out some notes on a sheet of parchment. He'd seen Professor Erikson provoked and he had no desire to die in Herbology class. He shot a guilty look towards Tuesday. He felt bad for speaking too much for her. He'd have to track her down later after class and speak with her.

"We could manipulate their um..." What was the word she was thinking? "Environment? Therefore having a change in...the way the plant develops. I'm sorry Professor Erikson. There's a reason I don't participate," she mumbled finally and scribbled furiously the huge list that had suddenly appeared on the board.

She hadn't even written down more than half of that.

Rasing her hand without thinking, Jasmine said, "Maybe by magically manipulating not just the plant but, that which contributes to the growth of the plant. Such as enchanting the water or soil to produce a desired effect?"

Methods of magical manipulation....hmm....Rapunzel tapped her quill on her chin and tried to think of an answer. "Could a potion somehow be used to manipuate a plant, Professor?" Rapunzel raised her hand. "You could create a new type of fertilizer or something, or soak seeds in a potion...." she trailed off and hoped her guess was correct.

Willow looked around. Everyone seemed to understand everything. She had no clue of how yo could alter a plant, "well, herbology is definately NOT my strongest subject", she thought as she sighed heavily

"Quite right. And don't worry so much, Celestina. You are doing fine. Everyone, feel free to speak up. You never know when you may have an answer no one else has. No matter how ridiculous it may sound.

"But yes, potions, charms, various other types of spells... both on the plant and on its environment. You may have noticed if you've been in my office, that some plants have a magically created environment. Each has its own source of light."

He gestured to the materials before him. "Now, we're going to discuss some spells that are made for specific methods of experimentation, and also the problems with magical manipulation. Choose a type of seed, and the soils or fertilizers you wish to use. Once you all have something planted, we'll continue."

ooc: if you answered for the prior question after my post, assume you got two points for it and your answer added to the board. I need to take a short break, so use it to plant your seeds.

Excelsior stood up, selecting the seeds he wanted to use for planting. After looking for a few moments, he decided on a fertilizing soil which he thought he would like to try and work with. Taking the items to his desk he began digging into the soil, preparing to plant the seeds he had chosen. He wasn't really sure what type of seeds they were, but he supposed that was all part of the exercise.

Cassandra walked to the front and picked a seed, along with a sparkling soil. She looked at the fertilizers and chose the green one, taking it back to her table.

She sat and began laying out the soil in a pot, with her wand she make a whole in the soil and then placed her seed in it. She then added the fertilizer and waited for Erikson's next order.
