Professor Blaylock paced in the centre of the circular room. Her hands were clasped together in front of her and she looked like she was a million miles away. But classes and schedules did not stop for personal issues. No matter how much she wanted to run down to the headmistress' office at that moment...the timetable detained her in this insufferable tower.
She looked up at the clock and frowned. The lesson would begin in a few minutes, and would end in an hour. Hopefully no chaos ensued today.

Ariana blinked. Scrying? She had heard the phrase before, but never like this. It was a term she had used when she was scared and crying. She didn't know it meant something for Divination. Quickly looking through her book she raised her hand, replying shyly "Wel, I know it's a form of crystal ball gazing, only with diffrent translucent objects. I think it falls under Gastromancy." She frowned.

A small smirk appeared on Sam's face as a girl clinged on to the professor like a stir-crazy weasel. He strained his ears to hear their whispered conversation, the suggestion of crystal balls promising an amusing conversation, with the girl close enough for the professor to go cross eyed. What was her name anyway? Blacklock or something like that. Rather dark for a Divination teacher.
Sam almost snorted with laughter as Blacklock pushed the Griffindor off her lap. It was almost unkind. A question. Sam grabbed the nearest textbook, flicking to the page on Types of Divination. "Spontaneous?" Sam ventured the guess, fancy that, a new comer answering. | |

There are some who believe the art of scrying is not limited to the use of "reflective" or "translucent" bodies only, but includes other media." Diabolica's hand went down slowly. Celestina knew this! They were all shiny. Raising her hand she began to rant. "Crystals. Stones. Glass. Mirrors. Water. Fire. Smoke even also--"
But ahead of her people were all talking at once and Celestina let her mouth hang open for a few seconds before closing it.
Freaky how they could summon massive amounts of information in a matter of nanoseconds.

Ari frowned, writing this down on her parchment, scribbling her answer off in huge long scribbly lines. She didn't even bother answering, why when it was obvious she didn't know anything about Divination. She sighed, watching as al the other smarter students replied so easily, as if they were an answering machine. Shaking her head, she began writing, her book laying forgotten beside her.

Amelia just sighed, as she wrote down what all the other students in the class were saying about this Scrying thing. She didn't mind Divinations compared to some of the other courses she was taking, but simply wanting to learn it well enough to be able to pass this OWL and then next year she could choose not to take it. Besides, Blaylock was usually entertaining in her lessons.

Essential to Scrying? She had absolutly no idea what Blaylock was talking about. She looked up from her bean bag chair, from where she was actually getting comfortable and blinked. She wasn't interested in Crystal ball gazing or anything like that, well she was to a point but Blaylock had already told Bucky it wasn't allowed. No, what she wanted to know more about was empathic abilities. Now there's a subject she'd do good in she thought, waiting for the others to answer. She began writing things down.
She didn't know why she was feeling this down, this...depressed. It could be due to what she had over heard a few days ago ,or just because that was the mood of the room, she didn't know. So, she closed her eyes for a moment, allowing happy thoughts to form in her mind.

Turning back to the class with a smile, "Putting yourself into a trance-like state is not quite as easy as it sounds. I've noticed my students faking this quite often in the past few years, and I cannot blame them for doing so." She half-smiled again, "Emptying one's mind is not something that many people can do. And I admit, I'm quite rubbish at it myself."
Clapping her hands once to bring them together in front of her, she went on, "But I've managed it once or twice, and I'm here to teach you the methods, after all, not hope that you're all struck with epiphanies or what not. Theoretically, you will achieve this trance like state by concentrating on your crystal ball or other reflective surface while controlling your breathing."
She held her hands up, fingers splayed out, "Then you count backwards from ten...you'll know you're in the desired state when you feel a slight hands and a calm, almost euphoric feeling settle on you." | |
