This is where 1+ year old Damian Erikson sleeps and plays while his mum and dad are busy teaching. A house elf watches over him, and is ready to hex the first person to come in and threaten the child. Protective wards are in place to ensure his safety.

Professor Blaylock is very nervous about having people visit her child, but now that Damian is older she allows her other staff members and the occasional student to come in and have a look. But only with her permission.

"Don't worry, Jasmine. It'll be fine." He watched his wife walk in and begin to babble, then chuckled. They were enough alike, it seemed. He helped himself to some tea and an oatmeal biscuit. "Well, settle in, girls. I know you both quite well, so I suppose you just need to get to know each other."

Jasmine looked up at the sound of Professor Blaylock's voice and gave her a tentative smile.

"Hello Professor Blaylock." She listened to the professor and eyed the said tray. "Yes, tea would be wonderful right now. And muffins are great too. Although, for some reason I tend to just eat the tops and leave the stems. Which really doesn't make sense if you think about it , seeing as they are made exactly the same. Oh, and so many flavors to choose from. Um, yes ginger ones are very nice, but I am somewhat addicted to chocolate, so I will take one of those if I may?"

Jasmine realized that she too was babbling and taking a cup of offered tea, went on to say, "And of course, we should get to know one another better." Giving a quick look at Professor Erikson, she asked, "I-I'm not sure how much Professor Erikson has told you about me."

Natasha smiled at the child as she poured a cup of tea for herself, adding far too much sugar as she watched the girl. "Chocolate is heavenly, Armand and I are quite indulgent of our sweet teeth..." she chuckled, took a sip of tea and made a face.

"Goodness, there's not enough tea in my sugar!"

Shrugging, she kept drinking it. No sense in letting a cup of tea go to waste, "Arm- Professor Erikson has told me quite enough, dearling, and I look forward to getting to know you better."

Armand sipped his tea, offering a small bit to Damian and sharing his biscuit with the child. Best to let the girls get to know one another. He let Damian up after the child had eaten half his biscuit and gotten tired of the tea, only to find the young one moving to take Jasmine's things for his own. He leaned over, took up the boy in his arms, and redirected him to his toys.

Jasmine too took a sip of tea then gave her a smile. "I'm looking forward to getting to know you better as well." Jasmine smiled as Damian made for her things only to be scooped away by his father.

Clearing her throat and taking another sip of tea, she looked back at Professor Blaylock and asked, "Is there anything in particular you would like to know first?"

Jasmine's life so far has not been very pleasant, so she hoped some of her answers to Professor Blaylock's questions didn't put her off in any way.

ooc: oi! It's 3:00am here mah luffs and this little girl has to be at work by 7:00am so I must bid thee farewell. I look forward to finishing tomorrow...erm.. today..later. Yes,well. Cheers.

Natasha blushed at being caught staring at the child. She really was quite delightful, and the thought that she could actually be a part of their family in a month...well, it was almost enough to make her want to gather the child to her and just cuddle her for a while.

But that would probably embarrass Jasmine...and herself. Armand would just enjoy it.

"Oh, no...let's not make this too much of an interrogation. What were you doing before Armand called you up here? Do you enjoy reading? If so, what sort of books do you like?" She stopped...so much for not interrogating her.

Jasmine blinked several times as she tried to remember all the questions just asked of her. Then her face broke out in a smile, dimples and all. It was nice to have someone interested in her.

"Well, I like to go for long walks around the lake, and thats what I was doing.There is a favorite spot of mine with an old fallen tree."

She then turned to Professor Erikson with a giggle and a twinkle in her eye. "You know professor, the one you fell backwards over, and it messed your hair up."

Turning back to Professor Blaylock, she smiled and said, "Oh I love reading! Learning things. I adore books about magical creatures, romance, history,..oh and herbology of course!" The last she said with a flutter of eyelashes at Professor Erikson.

"What about you Professor Blayock? What are your favorite books?" Jasmine asked, genuinely curious.

Natasha turned a deep red as Jasmine turned the tables on her. She really didn't like admitting that she enjoyed historical romances...it was quite embarrassing. She wasn't even sure if Armand knew she liked them.

"Oh, this and that...philosophy and poetry, you know..." Indeed...perhaps there was some philosophy and poetry in historical romances. Of course there was.

She grinned, happy that she hadn't exactly lied.

Jasmine's brow furrowed as she noticed Professor Blaylock blush. "Professor, your face is all red. What is so embarressing about philosophy and poetry?"

Then Jasmine's eyes got wide with dismay and she asked worriedly, "Or is it me? Did I say do or say something wrong?"

He chuckled softly and stood, taking Damian in his arms. "I think I'm going to leave you girls to talk a little more. I'll be back in a bit." He kissed both of them softly, Jasmine on the head and Natasha on the cheek, before getting the diaper bag and heading out.

Natasha took the opportunity of Armand's departure to fan herself to cool her skin. Really, this blushing this would never do. But now that Armand had left...she could be open about this.

"Well, you see....I read of philosophy and poetry in other books." She coughed to clear her throat, "Books of well...life issues."

She cleared her throat again. Darn...now it was starting to hurt.

"Ooh, another cup of tea, dearling?" Before the girl could reply she poured for them both and quickly downed her scalding tea. Ouch...that hurt.

Jasmine was getting more confused by the second, so she took a gulp of tea with out thinking and let out a squeak as it scorched her tongue and throat.

Making a owie face, she stuck her tongue out to cool it off for a moment, then looked at the professor.

"Erm..Life issues?"Then all of a sudden it clicked. "OH! You mean books where they make babies!" Now it was Jasmine's turn to turn red as she was mortified she just blurted that out.

If she had been red before, it was nothing compared to what she looked like now. Natasha shook her head emphatically, "Oh, not all the time!"

She stopped, looked at Jasmine and realized just how silly they both must have looked at that very moment. A giggle escaped her lips and she clamped a hand over her mouth.

"I'm sorry!" She said, her voice coming out muffled, "Next topic!"

Jasmine saw the professor turn even more red than before and she saw she was holding back a giggle or two. This of course made Jasmine want to giggle as well, so he bit her cheek and with a grin said, "Good idea!"

Still smiling, Jasmine took a careful sip of tea and thought a moment. "OK,Did you always know you wanted to be a Professor of Divination or did it just happen out that way?"

Setting her cup down, Jasmine leaned forward, rested her elbows on her knees and gave Professor Blaylock her undivided attention. She was very curious about this woman who, with any luck, would soon be the closest thing to a mother figure she had ever known.

Natasha managed to kill her urge to giggle and shook her head, "Oh no, I was quite content managing the bookstore with gran...Oh, you'll meet her, she's a lovely woman. Although...she can be quite frightening."

She smiled fondly at the thought of the woman who had raised her, "Anyway, I thought I'd run that bookstore for the rest of my life...never really had any thought of what else I could be doing. So you can imagine my shock when Professor Rae contacted me. I mean, I didn't think she even knew I existed!"

She took another sip of her cooling tea, "That's all history now, anyway...what about you? Do you know what you want to be?"

Jasmine listened with interest, her smile widening at the thought of having a family to meet. She then pondered the question asked of her.

"Well, I haven't really had a chance to think about it really. I tend to live day to day, the future seems a bit too much to think about sometimes."Jasmine lowered her eyes and began to fidget slightly.

Then she looked up and said a bit hesitantly," Well, I do have a slight gift with animals. Only Professor Maline knows of it..." Jasmine swallowed, took a deep breath and said, "I-I can...communicate with them. Understand what they are saying, stuff like that."

Looking down again, Jasmine waited for the professor's reaction. Most, thought her to be some sort of freak. At least, thats what she had been made to feel like when she was little when other kids had witnessed it.

Natasha paused in the act of raising her teacup to her lips...digested what Jasmine had just informed her and...brought the cup all the way and took a calm sip.

"How fascinating, I imagine a gift like that can be quite useful!"

Jasmine's head snapped up at Professor Blaylock's rather calm acceptance of what she had just said. Narrowing her eyes slightly, she tried to see if she was being made fun of in some way. Finally she judged that the professor was being sincere.

"Yes. It can be." She said with a shy smile. "Although, it can be a bit tiresome when my hawk, Fallon, and my owl, Nivius, are bickering."

Warmed by this quiet acceptance of her, Jasmine found herself growing quite fond of Professor Blaylock.

She gave her another smile and asked,"Professor Blaylock? Do you think you could do a reading for me sometime?"

Natasha grinned at the thought of what her feathered friends would be shrieking when they met with her pet kneazle, Nostradamus. Jasmine would be nursing a headache for days after that meeting!

"I'd love to do a reading for you, dearling, just come up to my office whenever you have the time and we can discuss the methods then." She paused, put a finger to her chin as she thought about it, "Perhaps you'd like to talk to Professor Erikson before you came over, though...and decide if you'd still want a reading by me."

She chuckled. Armand had had some very shocking experiences during their numerous reading sessions that first year.

Jasmine smiled happily when Professor Blaylock said she would do a reading for her. Then at her second comment she looked at her curiously and said slowly, "Ooookkkk."

Their talk of animals earlier made Jasmine suddenly remember the small menagerie she owned. Biting her bottom lip she thought a moment before asking tentatively, "Erm..Professor Blaylock, do you like animals?"

Natasha thought about it...did she like animals? Well...she liked the small, cute and cuddly ones. As for the bigger, man-eating, witch-trampling, fire-breathing ones...That was a no.

"Umm...." she had a feeling this was quite important to the girl, but she had to be honest here, "I like Nostra. And I quite liked Professor Maline's Frank...but the thing is, Jasmine, I like likable animals."

She took a quick sip of her tea, then stirred it absentmindedly with the tip of her wand, "Why do you ask?"

Jasmine tilted her head to the side as she listened to the professor's answer. Likable animals? To Jasmine all animals were likable in some way,but, she had an idea about what the professor was trying to say.

Nodding she smiled and said, "I understand." Then she went on to say a little nervously,"I ask because I have a few animals of my own and I love them all very much. I just want to make sure it would be OK for me to have them still, that is, if you decide you want to keep me."

Jasmine said the last part of the sentence very softly and unknowingly looked almost pleadingly at Professor Blaylock.

Natasha reached out and patted the girl's hand softly, "We'll figure something out, dearling...in the event that everything goes on without a hitch, we could have Professor Erikson build a..." she waved her hand as she tried to find the proper term, "shed?"

Jasmine's smile faltered and her eyes got wide and a bit tearful, "A shed? But-but, they always sleep with me."

Jasmine felt herself feeling torn between her animals and the idea of a real family. She immediately started to fidget and looked quite worried.

Natasha suppressed the shudder at the thought of scaly, slimy, disease infested critters sleeping in a bed with Jasmine and went on, "Well...we'll have to negotiate, dearling...I suppose it depends on what kind of animals they are."

She frowned, "I generally do not allow creatures inside the cottage, but I can make a few exceptions." For cute, furry little things like pygmy puffs...
