Headmistress Cassandra Rae-Branxton entered the room and surveyed it. She'd aired it out only yesterday, and dusted everything off. The room was ready for use, and no one could complain about how she taught her class. Not that anyone would, of course. No one would complain. She was the Headmistress, and all that was... ludicrous, really.
She seated herself at her desk with her quill in hand. They could all proceed normally with this term. | |

Wednesday Addams entered the classroom with excitement. She noticed the teacher sitting on her desk and smiled at her. "Hello, Professor Rae-Branxton," Wednesday greeted. Then she nervously seated herself on a desk up front. It's always good to make a good first impression, she thought.

Christian slipped into the class, bag slung over his shoulder. Nodding in the direction of the headmistress and saying a cheery, "Hello!", he proceeded to find himself a seat. Sitting down he took out some parchment and his quill. Waiting for class to start, he twirled the quill between his fingers absentmindedly.

Arian reached her things out of her bag, and once again began to chew on the end of her quill. She immediately threw it down on her desk, looking revolted. Why did she keep doing that?
Arian looked around. Was Will going to come, or Jackie? To tell the truth, Ari had no desire to see Laylee at the moment. Not if she was still feeling down about that Ryan girl.
She must have been some girl to make her friends feel that way. I wonder whether Cressida was too? Will speaks highly of her. I wonder if they ever went out with each other?
Ari half-smiled as she remembered her conversation with Will down near the Whomping Willow. Now that had been interesting.

"Okay..." Rae-Branxton rose and glanced at the shut door before pacing across the room to tap it thoughtfully with her wand. She turned and grinned at them all. "Let's begin. I normally start the term with a lot of stuff about what the Dark Arts are, and what makes them up, and then we practice dueling..." She returned to sit on the front of her desk. "But we'll skip most of that. I want to jump right into it this term. No time like the present, I always say."
She considered them for a moment. "But we should start with the Dark Arts. This is Defense Against the Dark Arts, and I'm Professor Cassandra Rae-Branxton. You may call me Professor Rae OR Professor Rae-Branxton... whichever you find easier to remember. I am married to the Charms professor, and I have two little girls. Before teaching here, I was an Auror, so I certainly do know what I'm speaking about."
"I believe in hands on learning, and I believe that you all have the ability to e truly great defensive experts, despite your level of casting skill. My own philosophy is that the greatest defensive tool you will ever have is your own brain, and I know you each have one of those. Well... I hope you do." She smiled at that. "So then... that's me. Are there any questions yet, or shall we proceed? I know it's a big unnerving to have the Headmistress in class, and I know things are topsy-turvy with the ministry official here, but just try to... think of things as normal."

Helios gave the headmistress a respectful nod as he took his seat. The young prince was curious if Professor Rae or the ministry knew of the foreign royalty at Hogwarts. This was not out of vanity, quite the opposite in fact. He did not wish to stand out any more than his sunshine hair made him.

Diabolica glanced at Cassandra, who was sitting two rows in front of her, a few seats down. She still didn't understand why Cassandra didn't seem to like her....or Xana....or really almost anybody...then she sat up in her seat though. DADA was one of her favorite subjects....especially when they were discussing the dark arts themselves....
