Up the winding staircase to the top of the North Tower lies the office of the Divination Professor. A trap door in the ceiling bears a silver plaque with the words:

Professor Natasha Blaylock-Erikson
Divination

Another sign is tacked under the plaque. It reads "Away on leave, be back in one week."

OOC: My character will be away from Hogwarts during the first week of term, so this thread will be closed til she returns.

Kennedy smiled in return to her professor's wink. Under most circumstances, that would normally be her reason for visiting with professors before classes had begun - to ensure that she was prepared and maximized her learning opportunities. However, this visit was a bit different and Kennedy said so, "Well actually, I came up here for a different reason, although I wouldn't mind a head start either!" Kennedy giggled and continued very quickly, "I actually came up to first say congratulations on your wedding and your baby. And then to ask a favor... well, actually, more of a request which you can feel completely free to shut down but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask. It's just that, like you, my mother delivered a baby boy over the summer holidays. I'm not sure if you remember me mentioning that my mother had been pregnant last term. Anyhow, she delivered two days after I returned home from Hogwarts and the last couple months have been absolutely wonderful. Having a younger brother has been amazing and I spent most of my time with my family, taking care of him and just watching him learn all sorts of new things, things we take for granted..." Kennedy realized that she had begun to ramble in her reverie and regrouped her thoughts. "Anyhow, I know that your son is very young and you don't want any students nearby him yet, but I was hoping that when you do decide it would be ok for students to see him and visit with him, if perhaps you would let me maybe sit by his crib a bit. I was really good with my brother, especially getting him to sleep. I sang to him alot. But anyhow, I know I would really enjoy being able to be around a baby again. I got so used to being around my brother that being here at Hogwarts without him has become rather difficult. I'd understand if you say no, but I figured I would ask..." Kennedy trailed off, feeling rather uncomfortable and thinking that perhaps her request had been too big and too presumptuous of her to make.

Estelle was strolling along the seventh floor as she walked towards the Ravenclaw tower when she stopped at what looked like a winding staircase which lead to a tower. She smiled and made her way up the staircase, wondering where it would lead her.

She knocked on the front door and waited to see if she would get any responce. She could hear voices from the other side, so this ment the Professor was probably inside.

Nicolas was walking along, perfectly pleased with himself on finishing his potions homework and handing it in on time. He felt like a good boy. As he walked along the seventh floor corridor, he found himself looking at a spiral staircase. He had known this was the North tower. Where the Divination classes were held, but had never actually been up there.

Grinning, he walked up the staircase and reached the door when he saw that someone else was standing in front of the door as well. "Hey Estelle!" He said as he stood next to her. "So how do you like Hogwarts so far?" He asked her as he knocked on the door.

"I have never been here. But I decided to come and greet the Professor. I heard she had a baby." He grinned again. He loved babies. He had a little sister himself. But she is four by now.

Natasha was considering Kennedy's suggestion when a knock sounded from somewhere that she could not identify (OOC: lol, I don't have a door...it's a trapdoor, and it is currently open and the ladder is down). She held a finger up to the young Ravenclaw as if to tell her to be quiet as she determined to figure out the source of the knocking.

It couldn't be from the windows, as she had thrown them all open earlier today...the trapdoor was up, and even if it had been down it would be quite difficult to knock on it, unless you happened to be Armand Erikson.

"Come in?" She called out, her brows knitted together in confusion.

OOC: Teehee, just having a bit of fun. Climb up the ladder and say hello

Nicolas heard the Professor's voice and climbed up the ladder with a little difficulty. After making his way up, he beamed at Professor Blaylock-Erikson. "Hello!" He said and climbed over the trapdoor. He looked back down at Estelle and motioned her to follow. "Come on Estelle!" He said.

Natasha smiled as yet another Ravenclaw climbed up into her office, "Hello there, dearling, I suggest you implore your partner to join us with haste."

She pointed to the floating teapot which had already poured out two fresh cups of tea for the new arrivals.

"Wouldn't want your tea to get cold now, do we?"

Estelle was waiting for a reply as she looked at the trapdoor. She had to climb that ladder? She wasn't particularly fond of ladders, but if she was going to have to get to know her teachers a little bit, she had to bend her fear of hights sometimes.

She heard a familiar voice behind her call her name and she turned around when she saw Nicolas as he greeted her. "Bonjour!" She said as she too beamed at him. "Well. It has only been two days and I can't really comment on how I like it."

A baby? Just had a baby? Estelle loved babies. She thought they were the cutest things in the world. She was about to respond when she heard a voice telling them to come in. She looked up the trapdoor again.

She watched as Nicolas climbed up the ladder and then motion her to climb up too. She eyed the ladder and let out a deep sigh. Grabbing it, she slowly began to climb up.

Don't look down. Don't look down.

But she glanced down. She wasn't really even high up really. The ladder itself wasn't that high. She was just sizing it up, but she did hate heights and wondered how on earth those quidditch players manage to fly that high without falling off. She had never even sat on a broom before. Which was kind of ironic because she had an older sister who loved flying.

Estelle heard the Professor's voice again and looked up, determined not to look down again. She was sizing it up, but she hated heights, with a passion. She liked to keep her feet on the ground thank you very much.

She somehow managed to get up there and climb onto the floor. Smiling at the Professor and everyone else in the room a little nervously she said, "Erm...Hai."

Armand walked up to the trap door and noticed it open with numerous voices. Looked like he missed out on having her alone. He climbed up and waited patiently, smiling and just holding out for those eyes to look up an notice him.

Natasha welcomed yet another Ravenclaw into her office, beckoning her to sit on one of the brightly coloured pouffes that were scattered around the seating area. The teacup was floating straight at the child and was nudging insistently on her shoulder as Natasha said, "Hullo, so what brings all of you up to my lonely tower on such a lovely day?"

She raised her cup to take another sip of the heavenly brew, but paused as she felt that familiar tingling that told her Armand was near.

Sure enough, she turned her head and found him standing just inside her office. She smiled and waved him over to join her on the settee.

He walked over, kissing her cheek lightly as he sat beside her. "Sorry it took me so long, love." He brushed his fingertips lovingly along her jawline before kissing her once more.

Natasha's pale skinned turned a deep crimson at her husband's gesture and she slapped his arm lightly, "Not in front of the young ones, dearling." She said in what she hoped was a stern voice, but the fact that she couldn't quite control the smile ruined the effect.

She turned back to the students, the blush still staining her cheeks as she attempted to look as if nothing untoward had happened.

He chuckled lightly. "Oh? Here I thought it was a rather innocent gesture." He leaned over and whispered something to her before pouring himself a cup of tea. "So, just what is everyone talking about, then?"

Natasha glared at Armand, wishing she could poke her wand right at him to wipe that smug look off his face, but she simply took a sip from her teacup. "We're just discussing the upcoming classes, and Kennedy here has offered her services as a babysitter for Damian."

"Oh?" He looked over at Kennedy, rather curious. "Well, she is one of the top students. Possibly one of the more responsible as well. Ever babysat before?" He let his glance shift back to Natasha, rather wondering if she'd really entrust Damian to one of the students.

Natasha waited for Kennedy to answer Armand's question, but she noticed him glancing at her. She met his eyes and understood exactly what he was asking. She shook her head almost imperceptibly in reply before she turned back to the students gathered in her office.

Kennedy had looked into her lap and blushed at her professors' show of affection for one another. She almost felt as though she was intruding on a private moment, even though she had been sitting there the whole time. She hadn't looked up until Professor Blaylock-Erikson mentioned her name. In response to Professor Erikson's question, Kennedy responded quite animatedly, "Oh, yes sir! My mother delivered a baby boy a few months ago and I've been taking care of him all summer! My mom taught me how to properly care for a newborn and I've been helping out for months until I came back here to Hogwarts. In fact, that is part of what prompted my request to spend time with Damian. I understand that you probably don't want students in and out of the nursery trying to care for him. And I'm not even asking to necessarily be left alone with him if you dont want, although I promise I would be very careful and responsible if you did allow me to be, I really just would like to spend some time with him. Maybe sit in the nursery with him and play with him in his crib, or sing him to sleep if you both are correcting papers and need some quiet time. And I completely understand if you'd rather wait til he's a bit older, but I thought I would ask now. I've gotten used to having a newborn in my life and being away from him has been really tough. I think being around Damian would be a joy for me and if you'd allow it, I would be very grateful." A bit choked up in the end, Kennedy's eyes welled up with tears and she was surprised to find that she missed her brother and her family more than she had yet admitted since she had returned to Hogwarts. She looked back down into her lap, hoping her professors didn't see her getting emotional.

Natasha nodded as the girl spoke, and she thought she understood what she meant. She was feeling homesick.

"We appreciate the offer, Kennedy, but Damian is still far too young right now and I'm afraid I'm still very new at the mummy thing myself." She smiled kindly, "Perhaps when he is a bit older and I am a bit more inclined to allow him some freedom, you may sit with him?"

Still looking in her lap, Kennedy replied, "Of course, I understand completely. I figured that you would feel that way, which is why I made the request more for the future than now. I mainly meant that when you do allow students nearby, to please consider me as one of those allowed students and know that I would love to help any way I can." Kennedy's tears seemed to recede back and finding her eyes relatively dry now, she looked up into Professor Blaylock-Erikson's face and smiled sweetly.

Estelle was just about to reply to Professor Baylock-Erickson when someone else turned up who looked like he was another Professor at Hogwarts and soon she realised he was Professor Baylock-Erickson's husband. She gave him a small smile and remained quite when she put her head down and sipped her tea. She did glance up once to see a girl, whose name she learnt just then was Kennedy.

Her eyes fell on the little boy, Damian and she smiled at him while the conversation continued. She took another sip of tea and wondered if she should leave. She felt like she was interupting, even though she hadn't yet spoken a word.

Just as he was about to introduce himself to everyone in the room, Estelle finally climbed up. He grinned at her as she nervously greeted everyone. He wondered why she was so nervous. She seemed pretty much okay when he met her.

He turned around again as someone else joined them. He knew who he was of course. He was Professor Erickson who taught Herbology also Professor Baylock-Erickson's husband. He smiled at him when he walked in, but felt a little weird sitting there soon afterwards. He glanced at the others who still sat there and stayed put. He wasn't really the kind of person who would stay silent for too long, but he managed to keep his mouth shut as the conversation continued. Silently sipping his tea.

Natasha's head whirled about at Armand mentioning that he'd bring Damian to his classes. She watched him carefully to determine if he was joking or not, but then forced herself to ease up. Damian was his child, too.

She beamed at the young Ravenclaws, "So, what brings you up here Nicolas, Estelle?" She's never seen them outside of a classroom environment before and she wondered if they were all here to get a head start on that term's classes.

Nicolas wondered how the Professor had known his name. It was his first year and he hadn't yet attended any divination class. At least he didn't think there had been a divination lesson yet and he was pretty annoyed with himself for missing the Tarot party she threw at the start of the term. But then again, she teaches Divination. How would she not know their names.

"I heard you had a baby!" He beamed at her. "So I just dropped in to say hi and congratulate you for Daiman." He didn't really know how long she had been married, so he couldn;t really conratulate her on that.

ooc: Nabs, she had never seen Nicolas ever before. And unless I am mistaken, harry_for_ever's charrie just joined 'yesterday' from Beauxbatons.

Natasha grinned like the proud mother she was at the boy's statement, "Why thank you, dear, how sweet of you to do so." She flicked her wand and allowed the floating teapot to top up the boy's cup, "Have some more tea, you darling child."

She smiled as if rewarding him with goblin gold.

Nicolas beamed as Professor Baylock-Erickson looked pleased with what he had said as she poured him some more tea. Well, she didn't pour it with her hands. It was the enchanted teapot. He looked at Damian and back at the Professor. "You know. I have a younger sister." He told her. "But she is now four." He missed Babette a lot too. But his step mother had sent him a a parchment which Babette wanted her to send it to him with her little hand plastered on it. He had it in his pocket somewhere.

"In fact. She turned four two weeks ago." He said as he happily took another sip of tea.
