 The walls had actually remained blue for a few terms. Even the ceiling had somehow got painted blue. It was fabulous to Lainey and she had a certain Slytherin or two to thank for it. Her office was now re-decorated with all her keepsakes that Lord Borr had taken from her. Yet another Slytherin had made sure to keep her things safe until her return. Over the summer vacation, Lainey had spent even more time with twins and Rae, her best friend. She'd gotten a lot better with babies and was almost enjoying being their Aunt Lainey.
Not much had changed over the summer though. There'd been no encounter with that old ... shall we say acquaitance ... Lainey had lost some of her paraniod ways. The event in Hogsmeade still haunted her every now in then. Though, honestly, was haunting even the right word? No time to dwell on that...
Seated in her high backed chair, Professor Lainey works on repairing an old History book. She looks up as you enter and clearly is not sure if she trusts you. "Hi. What can I do for you?" | |

Lainey took up the note and stared at it for a while. She'd never had the "inner eye" or anything even remotely close to it. She was doing good to have her own two seeing eyes. However, she pocketed the note and made a scribble about it on her calendar. Could be fun... right? She liked tea, at any rate. | |

Antwone tapped on the door and looked inside for Professor Lainey.
"I was sent her to speak to you from the Headmistress. She said you have extensive knowledge of Lord Vol--," Antwone stopped as he saw another Hufflepuff student sitting patiently for the professor. "I see I'm not the only one looking for her am I?"

Kennedy knocked gently on Professor Lainey's door and peered inside her office to see quite a line of students developing. Not wanting to overcrowd her Head of House's office, Kennedy gestured that she would wait outside until it was her turn to meet with her. Kennedy leaned against the wall outside of Professor Lainey's office and began humming softly to herself.

After a few long moments, Antwone sighed heavily and got up from his seat and left passed the girl named "Sara" and another Ravenclaw girl who Antwone had never seen before.
"I can wait," Antwone thought to himself, "I'll just see if Nevada came back with dad's letter and I'll be just fine. I won't even have to talk to Professor Lainey."
With each step which came with a new reassuring thought, Antwone walked away from Professor Lainey's office in high hopes from the owlery where he knew his father must give him answers. There had to be a reason he had never told him of Lord Voldemortist.

Excelsior hesitated. He was nervous about meeting all the professors, afraid he might do or say something to make himself look like a fool. He tried to compose himself as he introduced himself, "Good morning, Professor Lainey. I am Excelsior Black, a first year student. I'm sure that History of Magic is a lot more relevant than I've thought, so I'm excited to learn exactly how the past affects our present. I'm looking forward to our lessons." He wasn't quite sure if that was true or not, but he was willing to give it a try and do the best job he could. | |

Ian entered professor Lainey's office.A few other students were also there and he thought of waiting for his turn to speak to the teacher.
He realised though, that nobody was about to speak.
"Um, goodmorning Professor, I was wondering when the first lesson is gonna be?"he asked.
"Oh and I'm Ian Jacobs by the way, third year.To be honest yours is one of the few classes I'm actually looking forward to."

Kennedy had been waiting outside of Professor Lainey's office when she noticed her walk by her and through the door into her office. Kennedy followed behind when she heard Lainey ask what she could do for those students waiting in her office. She figured most wanted to discuss the time and date of her first class, but Kennedy had something different on her mind. She smiled at Professor Lainey and replied, "Good to see you again, Professor. I hope your holiday went well. I just came to speak with you about starting up the Ravenclaw study group again this term, if that is possible. I found that a fair amount of students found the group useful and wondered if we might do it again this term? I would love to assist in ensuring the study binder is complete and accurate as well. What do you think?"

As you walk down the corridor to the History of Magic classroom and offices you notice an eerie silence. The door to the cheerful office is shut and locked, as is the homey classroom the students have come to love and cherish. There is a note tacked on Professor Lainey's office door which read:
History of Magic classes have been suspended for the remainder of the term.
Where has Professor Lainey gone? Why would she have left such a mysterious note behind for the students she loved and cared for so much?
