Hermy entered the lab, noting the amount of equipment and bags that had been laid out. She dropped off her bag and pile of books at a desk near the front of the the room, and surveyed the work area.

Taking a closer look at the bags, she saw they had names on. "Wow!" She exclaimed. "Are these all our seeds? Whoa!" She scanned the line for her own name, wondering how her seeds had turned out.

"Hey Prof. What's up?" Marco said, strolling into the greenhouse, "So what do we have to do?" He said spotting plant pots.

"Pretty easy," Erikson chuckled. "Choose your spot, and plant your seeds. Be sure to water and feed them. I'll explain a little more when most of you have finished up. But if you aren't sure how to plant the seeds, I can offer up some tips."

Ryan walked into the lab and found the bag with his name on it after a while of searching.

"So we just plant these bad boys and water and feed 'em?" Ryan asked, looking expectantly at the professor. "Sounds easy enough."

Jennifer walked into the lab, pusing back her long blond hair and strolled over to where the sead bags were and within a minute, she had spotted her bag.

She took a seat ans started on the task. First planting the the seeds and pouring a little water into the pot by using the spell, Agumenti! making sure nit to put to much water. When she finished, she examined her work. It looked very nicely done. She smiled to herself and glanced at the nearest students who were not done yet.

"I finished, Professor. What do I do know?" she asked.

Sana walked behind the Ravenclaw boy and entered the Herbology Lab.
She spotted the bags which were labelled with student name. She found her bag after a minute or two.
"Professor, are we all have the same seeds or different? Shall we use some magic?" she asked with a polite voice.

Jasmine smiled warmly at the professor as she looked for the bag with her name on it."Hello Professor Erikson." Finding her bag near the end she took it and made her way over to a clear work area, grabbing one of the biodegradable pots along the way.

Once she was settled she excitadly opened her bag and retrieved her seeds. She observed them a moment as they rested in the palm of her hand, she had a good feeling about these seeds. Smiling serenely, Jasmine carefullly set the seeds down and took the pot. She put some pebbles in the bottom for better drainage before putting a mixture of rich potting soil and fertalizer on top. She mixed the mixture to allow air to filtrate and filled the pot about 3/4 of the way. She then placed a couple of seeds in the center and put the remaining soil mixture over the seeds. She gave the top of the soil a loving pat and gently poured some water over the planted seeds with a watering can.

Jasmine knew she could use magic to do alot of the process, but she enjoyed working with her hands. It gave her a great sense of calm and satisfaction to be more in touch with nature. Using magic made her feel detatched from the actual act of growing something.

Jasmine cleaned her area and then looked over at Professor Erikson and asked. "Professor, is there anything I am forgetting? And is this ok what I did here so far?"

Excelsior walked into the lab saying, "Greetings, Professor Erikson. How are you today?" He began to search for the bag with his name on it and finding it, gathered a few supplies and took a seat. He began to carefully plant his seeds, making sure they were receiving an adequate supply of water as he did so.

Heather grabbed her bag and began planting the seeds easliy.She added the perferred soil for the plants .Giving them the perfedt amount of water and fertilizer.She made sure she didn't drown it in water.She smiled slightly as she continued.

Erikson chuckled. "It is. This is mainly for everyone to see the follow-through on their own hybrids. I'll explain more in a bit."

"That was awfully quick, my dear. Did you take care in planting? Or at least take note of what soil you used, or what fertilizer, if you used any? Take you time in planting, or your plants may not sprout."


"These are the seeds from the hybrids you created in class. Feel free to use magic, though it's not something I often recommend."

ooc: Even if you weren't actually there for the class, assume you were. If you have to, just look over the lesson for which plants were available and pick two.


Erikson nodded with a soft smile. "You're doing excellent, Jasmine. I can see your seedlings will grow well."

Erikson smiled and nodded to the boy. "Well enough, thank you."

Seeing the students doing well enough, he moved to the front of the room. "Now, I've a small announcement. Over the summer I will be working on a new garden space. For a student garden. The hybrids that thrive, if you choose not to take them home, will be planted in that garden, tagged with your names. You'll get the opportunity to name them then, if you so choose. Otherwise they will be labeled by the names of their parent plants."

Ryder looked to Professor Erikson and then to his bag of seeds. He was extremely nervous as this subject was not his strong subject. "Um professor..." He said looking at his pot. "Does the soil and fertilizer I choose have any effects on how well my plants will grow?" He asked nervous looking at the empty potting tray

Erikson chuckled softly. "A little, Ryder. Though if you're really concerned, try the high nutrient potting soil," he said, pointing to a bag. "A generic fertilizer spike will work well with that. You can always check on it later and see if it needs something more."

Excelsior thought the idea of a student garden sounded really cool. He continued to nurse his seeds. He added a bit of fertilizer spike to them to help them grow faster.

Ryder nodded nervously and walked over to the fertilizer professor Erikson had pointed to. He poured the high nutrient soil into his tray and opened his bag of seeds pulling them out and holding them in his hand a minute. He poked a few wholes in the soil and put the seeds in them covering them with a little more soil. He nervously looked at Professor Erikson to see if he was watching him. He hated making mistakes in front of people.

Hermy found her seeds, and held the packet to the light. According her book, the seeds for the hybrid she had originally wanted to obtain shimmered in the light. Not surprising since it inherited some genes of the rare Ravenheart iris. Admittedly Hermy's substitute lily had not caused the seeds to glimmer, but she was excited at the prospect of seeing the colour of the resulting flowers.

Taking the bag to her desk, Hermy once again reached for the book that had inspired her choice in the first place. It had tips on the best way to plant the flower she longed for, to encourage the richest shades of blue, and that fine glittered affect. She scanned the text to find the information she needed. Nodding to herself, she when around the classroom picking up the various soils and equipment she needed.

Firstly Hermy put some gravel in the pot to improve drainage, then carefully put in layers of dragon dung manure, potting soil and sand, each about the thickness of her hand. When she reached the top of the pot, Hermy poked a finger into the soil and made some shallow holes. Into each one she dropped a light coloured round seed, and then covered them over.

Finally she had to water them. From experimenting with other plants, Hermy had come up with a good formula for a liquid fertiliser, so she mixed two vials of this into the filled watering can and gently spritzed the pot. She waited for the water to soak through, and then repeated the action twice more. She looked up at Professor Erikson as he mentioned the student garden.

"I would like mine to be added to the garden if they grow well, I think if they shimmer as I hope they will they would look a tad strange in my Muggle Aunt's garden!" She giggled at the thought. "Though maybe I could take a cutting off them for myself next year to keep in my dorm? If the Ravenclaw colours come out correctly, of course."

Rapunzel grabbed her bag of seeds and chose a spot next to Ryan. "Hey there, what's up?" she asked as she dumped some high nutrient potting soil into the planter. "This shouldn't be too difficult, should it?" she murmured more to herself than to him.

Qaz grabbed the bag with her name and got to work. She grabbed several of the little biodegradeable pots. She had used them many times back home. She put some pebbles in the bottom of each pot...about 3/4 inch should do the trick. Next, she made a mixture of potting soil, peat moss and a little bone meal. She filled each of her little pots to about 1/2 inch of the top. She tapped the mixture in, but did not compact it. Then with the tip of her little finger, Qaz made 3 indentations in the center of each pot. She placed one seed in each hole and carefully moved surrounding soil to cover the seed. Qaz then picked up a watering can, filled it with about a quart of tepid water. To this, she added one teapoon of granular plant food and swished it around until the plant food had desolved. Carefully, she poured the water into the pots. She had to go very slowly or the seeds would be rinsed loose and rise to the surface of the soil. Once the pots were saturated, Qaz grabbed her quill and parchment to document everything, before she forgot any of the details. She was very excited about the project. Previously, all of her Irises had been grown from rhizomes. Now the waiting begins....
