"Clausaltus Obfirmo. Clausaltus Obfirmo." After repeating a few more times, she rummaged through her schoolbag, checking if there were any items that were useful. Suddenly, a question came popping into her thoughts. Unable to resist her curiosity, Mindy raised her hand and asked, "Professor Branxton, are there different passwords for different diaries? Do they all have to be Open Sesame?" |
Couleia took one last concentrated breath before picking up her wand. One circle, two, three...one flick, and two... finally, she said clearly as she tapped the book, "Clausaltus obfirmo." After watching several others who had succeeded with the charm before her, she knew at once that the light coming from her wand was a sign of success. Tapping the book again, she said in a low, but still clearly spoken voice, "Paulseph." She had decided on her older brother's name since they were the closest. Her eyes sparkled and a big smile appeared on her face as she realized it had worked, and the generous boy's book had gone unruined. |
Qaz saw Couleia get her charm to work. She gave her a big smile and a thunbs up. They'd been doing a fair amount of talking and she didn't want to push it. |

Christian figured that it was time for a real test. He rifled through his bag and found one of his old notebooks. There really wasn't anything special in this book. Actaully, there was, but he was way more than happy to screw up and have the book locked forever. Holding the book in his hand, he did the routine and timed the incantation. The white light shined and he knew that it had worked. Seeing if it really was all goood, he said "open sesame." The book unlocked and he was allowed to turn the pages. |

Antwone took his empty hand and waved his hand for the final time in three circles, two flicks, followed by one long flick and said the incantation clearly. "Clausaltus Obfirmo!" he smiled to himself and noticed other students asking about the professor and if he was alright. Questions like that should be left for after class. Antwone looked to the professor who was giving more instructions and handing out books. "Does this mean we can use our wands now? Try it out with the notebooks and all?" Antwone asked as he picked up a notebook and flipped through the pages within them. Wonder what sort of password I should use? He looked up to the professor and waited for an answer with his notebook in both hands. |
Mary took out her wand and gave it three turns and two quick flicks, the second flick tapping the brand new book which was plain.A small flash of white light appeared at the tip of her wand. She gave one final flick and muttered 'Clausaltus Obfirmo'. The white light reached towards the book and touched it gently.Mary said in a soft and low voice, 'Ju McKenzie Laurence'. The light disappeared into the book.Mary smiled and tried to open the book.No go.Yes, she thought.I made it. Mary said the password, so softly that she was doubtful even the book could hear it.The book opened and Mary smiled. She had got it right. |
Once Amelia was sure that she knew the incantation and the motions, she decided to practice them together - still without her wand. She moved her wand hand three times around, gave it two flicks, and then paused. I think this is where I say the incantation.... "Clavicularus Obfirmo" And after she said the incantation, she gave her hand another long flick before raising her hand slowly back to rest. Wait... no. I think I said the word wrong. She looked towards the Professor, "Erm. what did I just say exactly? I keep mixing up random bones, muscles and nerves with my incantations." Amelia laughed, and knew right then, that she really was going to be a healer. |
Ariana gulped nervously as she watched Professors Baxton and wrote a small note in her notebook before walking up to hisdesk and taking a blank notebook. That was all she needed; to ruin her notebook. Walking ack to her spot, she put down the notebook and continued practising. She found it hard to concentrate however, she knew something was bothering the professor, probably the missing children she had heard about. Taking a deep breath to keep her emotional block up she continued to practice. "Three turns...then two short flicks..." she muttered as she moved hre hand around, trying to get the movemtns down. As she went for the pause and short flick up she felt a strange emotion, but shook it off. Getting back to work she continued doing the wand movements with her hand as she said the incantation. "Clavicularus Obfirmo" no that wasn't right... "Clausaltus Obfirmo" "Ok, I think I got it." She said aloud as she bent down to pick up her wand. Feeling slightly nervous now she took a deep breath and started. First she turned her wand three times in her hand, and made two quick flicks as her wand tip touched the notebook and as she said the incantation during the small pause "Clausaltus Obfirmo" she watched happily as a white light seemed to emanate from the tip as she brought the wand tip down for a short flick she said her password. Nervously she watched as the white light seemed to be absorbed by the book. Placing her wand in her pocket, she picked up the book. It still felt normal, no missing parts and no added weight. "Hey, I think I did it!" she said happily to herself as she tried to open the book without success. She looked around and noticed Amelia was having problems. Walking over, she asked, "Need some help?" as she stopped and nodded towards her wand. |

Caitlin was nervous about trying the charm. Charms, in the first place, was not a strong subject for her. Now, she was stuck trying to do a more complex one when she was lucky that she could even levitate things. Sighing, she decided to give it a try. After all, what could she loose? But at the same time, she really just wanted to sit in the back of the classroom and think about the event that they'd hosted the day before. It had, ultimatley, been an amazing success. Tons of people had shown up by the lake and they possibly even had some new SSers. Taking her mind off of that, she decided to focus on the task at hand. She turned the wand three times in her hand - and then promptly dropped it. "Dang it," she muttered, and tried again. This time, she didn't drop it - though she almost hit the person next to her - so she quickly and eagerly made two fask flicks and said, "Clausaltus Obfirmo!" However, no white light connected to her diary. Stumped, Caitlin decided to give up for a few minutes. She sat back down in her chair and pondered over the Secret Society's next move. Once she'd done so, she stood back up and decided to try again. |
Mary saw a girl trying hard to do the spell. She went over to her and said. 'Hello.Need some help?I could help you with what I know.' she said kindly, in her soft voice. Her blue eyes sparkled as she looked at the girl who was almost in her fifth year. |
Amelia's arm felt all tingly from being in the air so long. The Professor really was in another world today, since he seemed to be ignoring some of his students. This was understandable with his children missing and all that, but why doesn't he just end class early so he could go look for them - that's what she would do. Then Ariana's question to her startled her, and she put her hand down, all flustered, "Wha-? Oh yes Ari, I seem to have trouble remembering this incantation." For some reason, she didn't want to tell her Ravenclaw friend of her issues with using medical terms. It was kind of embarrassing for her to already have a career in mind, when she was only a third year. |
Caitlin grinned. Was that first year honestly trying to help her? Caitlin was in her sixth year! After giggling a good bit, she decided she had nothing to loose by seeing someone else perform the charm. However, whether or not she wanted this midget to show her was what she was questioning. Deciding that she'd never really be a person much into Charms anyway (she was more of the Quidditch type), Caitlin nodded and said, "Sure, why not? Show me what you've got." She stepped back and laughed a little to herself, hoping more than anything that this girl could help her out. What sixth year would want to fail Charms while a midget passed? |

"You'll get it, just keep trying. It looks like you have the wand movements down." she added, encouragingly. |
Thump attempted the spell, going through the motions, wand in hand but without saying a word. When he got the part where he should input his password he stopped sudden and opened his eyes. Ughhh.....what to put as a password? He thought to himself eyes blinking... I suppose I could use "keyblade"...that opens everything doesent it? He re-tried the spell, over and over making sure to get it down in muscle memory. Alright let me get a notebook and he made his way to the the desk retrieving a notebook and began practicing a bit more on it going through the wordless motions. |
Amelia listened to her friend explain about the different syllables within the incantation. She blushed slightly when she heard that Ari had noticed her saying 'Clavic'. However, she wasn't entirely sure why she couldn't get this spell right because she had no trouble with the floating charm. Perhaps she was feeding off of Professor Branxton's anxieties. She took a deep breath and tried saying the incantation again, "Clow-sal-tus Ob-firm-o. Clausaltus Obfirmo." She smiled, knowing that she had said it correctly that time, but then frowned at her friend. "See that's the problem. I can remember the incantation separately, but when I try to combine it with the wand motions, then my thoughts get all jumbled up and I lose focus." |
Lexi took a deep breath. "Clousaltus Obfirmo", she thought to herself. "Clousaltus Obfirmo", she said. She waited for the spell to work and then realized, she didn't have her wand out. She turned red as she looked over at Amelia. "Ooops", she whispered. |
Ariana nodded, understanding. "I had the same problem actually, at first." she said chuckling slightly. "What I do is concentrate on nothing more than my wand and the incantation. I drown out everything else around me." she said, explaining. "Than I do the mtoions and the incantation just seems to come out correctly." She looked at Amelia and thought that she was too busy concentrating on something else. "Just take a deep breath to clear your mind, then try it." She said with a smile. |
Amelia looked over at Lexi and just laughed. "Silly girl, you have to practice the incantation with the wand motions first. Then you can use the wand. Ari here is a rather good teacher." She smiled at Ari and then turned her focus to what she was saying. "Clear my mind? okay. I think I could do that." Amelia said fervently, though she knew it was a lie because clearing her mind was always the toughest part of any task she did. Even quidditch, Evan always told them to clear their mind before a game, but she always had trouble with that. She closed her eyes and just imagined a beautiful horizon, with nothing else around her. She felt in complete solitude and all she could think of was the wand motion and incantation. Opening her eyes, she smiled peacefully, "okay, I'm good now." She then felt her hand move clockwise three times, and her wrist gave two quick flicks. Without even thinking about anything else, the words emerged from her mouth, "Clausaltus Obfirmo." Shortly after, her hand gave a long flick and then raised slowly back up to rest. |
Lexi giggled, "I knew that of course Amelia!" She stuck her tongue out at her. "I think I got it now though. But all tips are welcome, Ari was your name?" She looked at the Ravenclaw girl when she said this last part. Lexi rummaged through her bag for her wand and an empty notebook that she could practice with. I know I have a notebook in here, she thought to herself. She stood up and then pulled her long hair back. Ok, maybe now I can see, she teased herself. Lexi pulled out her wand and then after shifting through the rest of her mess, she pulled out an old, never used, notebook. Clousaltus Obfirmo!, she thought to herself over and over again. When she thought she was ready, she sat the notebook down in front of her. She took a deep breath and picked up her wand. Lexi then turned her wrist once, twice, and then a third time. Then two quick flicks and she said "Clousaltus Obfirmo!" during a pause and then she said "Hufflepuff" as she started the last flick. But there was something wrong, there had been no light. She must've gotten the timing wrong. Lexi sighed and slid down the wall to sit down and comtemplate what she had done wrong. |
Qaz whispered her password and her book opened right up. One more time for good measure. She brought her wand to the ready and went through the movements: circle back once, circle back twice and circle back a third time. Flick once and flick again tapping the book and saying, 'Clausaltus obfirmo.' The light appeared. She tapped the book again, and while she raised her hand slowly, she whispered, '********' then watched as the seeped into the book. 'That's three in a row,' she thought to herself. After the disasterous way she started, she was very pleased with herself. 'That was a very difficult charm, and I did it!' She blushed at the thought. She knew she shouldn't think like that...such arrogance...but she was terrible with a wand, and she was so happy to get it right... |
Ari grinned happily. "You did it!" she said cheerfully. Now the part for sying the password. "You remember how to do the password part? You have to do it when you see the white light emerge from your wand, but before the long flick at the end." she instructed, smiling. She looked over at the other girl and grinned, "You'll get it, you were really close." she said, encouraging her. |
Lexi looked at the Ravenclaw girl and smiled back. "I'm Lexi by the way," she said. She continued practicing the wand motions along with the incantation. Three turns of the wrist, two quick flicks, pause and say Clausaltus Obfirmo, say the password when white light emerges, and long flick. She went over this process over and over again in her head. |
