"Feel free to practice the wand movements and ask either myself or your fellow classmates for help," Professor Branxton announced before repeating the movement once more.

Everyone was practicing their wand movement and the teacher was across the room so Laylee leaned over to Jackie, who was sitting next to her, and whispered "Hey Jackie, I have something to tell you."
She wanted to tell her about what had happened out at the lake earlier. Then she started practicing her wand movement again.

Lauren fingered her wand laying on the desk, her head tilted slightly sideways and nodding lightly as she watched Professor Branxton repeat the correct movement. She let out a small sigh, lifted her wand, and positioned it in her hand. She curled her fingers around the end loosely and twirled her wrist into three slow, clockwise circles. She paused for a brief moment, then made two smaller but full flicks of her wrist, moving her wand smoothly up and down. She paused once more, then made one last flick, this time long and flourishing. She smiled discretely, believing she was close. Lauren decided, however, as the rest of her classmates were still practicing their wand movements, that a few extra tries before they learned the incantation wouldn't hurt. And so she began again: circle, circle, circle, flick, flick ... pause ... flick.

Nat looked around at the other students practicing the movement, the look of concentration etched on many of their faces.

Repeating the instructions in her head as she echoed the movements, she began to practice, holding her wand comfortably in her right hand.

"Round, Round Round, Round, oh no, just 3 times," Nat mumbled to herself.

"Round, Round, Round, Flick, Pause... No two flicks," she began to get impatient with herself, clutching her wand a bit too tightly. "Relax and ease up," she remembered her mother's words resound in her head. Shaking the frustration off, she continued.

"Round, Round, Round, Flick, Flick, Pause and Flick. Finally," Nat smiled to herself. Practicing a few times, still making a couple of mistakes at first, she managed to get the hang of the movement, but decided to carry on til the Professor called the class to order.

Jez watched with a small grin as the students practised the movement. Taking up her own wand, she started the movement tentatively. Trying it again, she moved a little faster. On Jez's third try, she went as fast as the professor had.

Frowning suddenly, Jez wondered if the spell worked on animals too. She couldn't see her toad anywhere, and Salt's toy was still rolling on the table beside her silently. The salt shaker wasn't accompanied by the toad.

Raising her hand, Jez waited until she had the Professor's attention.

"Professor? Does this concealment charm work on animals too?" Jez asked, her eyebrow raised in concern.

Her eyes were screwed in concentration. "Circle, circle, circle, flick, flick -pause- flick."

Her face got releived at last!Bess had got the hang of the spell after three tries! She went on practising with satisfying results but was determind to get perfect.

"Ok, what is it?" asked Jackie, before attempting the spell.
Turn, Turn, Turn, flick! pause... flick! she thought, trying to keep her wand movement at a steady pace.

"No, this charm only works on books. It isn't a concealment charm so much as a fancy locking charm specific to books. It prevents the book being opened by anyone without the password," he answered before looking around at the students.

"That's very good work, everyone. Now, I'm afraid we're all out of time today but, I'll leave the Charms Classroom open so that you can practice the wand movement in your free time. Your homework assignment will be to write a short essay on the uses for the Diary Charm and will be due one week from today. Have a lovely day!"

Professor Branxton turned his back on the class and let his somewhat cheery facade fade away. The lines of worry etched across his face as he wondered where his children were, whether they were safe...

"Well something happened to me down at the Lake. Its a long story, Ill tell you after class." she whispered.
Laylee was pretty sure she had the wand movement down now, when the professor said that class was over.
"Ok Jackie, well lets go up to the common room and Ill tell you!" she said, picking up her stuff and heading out of the room with her.

"Ok," said Jackie, before writing down the homework quickly then leaving the classroom.

Something's wrong... Cassandra thought. The wand movement's great but he forgot to teach us the incatation and password application. Maybe he's saving it for another class or maybe something is so wrong, he can't think about anything else...

Cassandra shrugged and wrote down her homework, leaving the classroom.

She quickly wrote down her homework, Mindy did. After practicing it a few more times with her wand, she packed her schoolbag and turned to leave.
