| | Tri-Wizard Planning
I KNOW it isn't really "Tri-wizard" now that it's obvious we're going to have to do another inner-school bit, but for lack of a better term...
We need to start some brainstorming to get prepared for next term. What I'd like from you for NOW are your ideas on:
1.) Events to run. Feel free to flesh an idea out or run with someone's idea if it has merit, or to offer the bare basics of an idea if you have any. We need three.
I don't care exactly HOW we run these, but they have to be consistent and they have to be objectively judged in some way. I'd also like them to be as IC as possible... no site-wide hunts, although something school-wide might be okay.
2.) How we should pick/organize teams in each house. Last time, we had people submit applications, the houses voted, and four people represented each house. I like that or a variation of that ... could we do an event that requires teamwork?
I KNOW that I want to talk about more, but my brain hurts. So if you have any other related discussion, go for it. I'll pick the leader for each of the three events once we're underway and we have a clear idea of what we're doing. If we don't come up with ideas or no one wants to help... we just won't do it. I can't run this thing on my own, guys. |

I think the subjects task is a different task altogether.

| Double Agent Stamps! If I can make a suggestion, instead of just posting a picture and description of the magical creature, you could have a staff member role play each creature. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry had to fight the Acromantula and solve a riddle with the Sphinx. It would make the task more challenging and fun for the champions if they not only had to figure out how to defeat the creature, but also have to interact with it. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Professor McFarlane Graduated | IndyEddie Thanks, Terry, but that's what I had already figured on. What I posted before was a rough out line that I and those working with me on the task could use to springboard off of. I may be head of the task, but I do want everyone to have equal say, and if there's a creature for them to just 'get around' that option is there as well, especially for those who can't RP every little thing, since it'll be around Final time for some of the participants.

Hmmmm... I think I'll have them call the Comcast internet techinal services line... the goal of course would be to get them to speak to a real person.
O wait, it has to be something that can be done?
Hehe...
Actually, in seriousness, I'm sort of confused... do we have to work our subject into a bigger event, or make our own task that will eventually be grouped into a bigger event? Or none of the above?

| Kitty Momma Rachel's Brain Twin Eh... I still only have the base principle of how the Arithmancy code thing is going to work, but not too much otherwise. However I promise I'll have loads more on what this code’s going to be or could be all about when I get a bit of insight to what everyone’s going to be doing for their subjects and stuff hehe.
Having said that, I might need a bit of help/suggestions with what the code says and stuff as it will be sort of or else totally related to other's challenges and stuff... and I'm bad at creating non-direct riddle type stuff LOL! ![Flowers](https://www.snitchseeker.com/images/smilies/flowers_smile.gif)

Hogwarts RPG Name: Professor McFarlane Graduated | IndyEddie So far, LB and I are doing the maze, we're aiming to do at least two creatures per student, though I think we'll move that to at least four, two to RP, and two to just avoid.
We're thinking of making them the same animals, and making the Maze be moderated so that no one can copy off someone else, which I'm all for. If not fully moderated, then maybe separated like the house CR's are (for the interaction), other wise, we'll have to get completely different creatures for each person//house.
I'm still thinking of making them use the stars to dictate which way they're going, (Honestly, find the north star and go either towards//away//east of//west of).
So far, I know it's me and LB.....no one else has said they'd help, and that's fine, cos I like knowing LB *will* be there, instead of maybe be there.
Tell me when you want me to do the maze, Ern, and I'll get the rest ![:)](https://www.snitchseeker.com/images/smilies/smile1.gif)
OH! Before I forget. Hazelle has a flying horse, and we've decided that Cassiopeia will help each student no more than twice......or maybe Cassiopeia once, and Cepheus (Hazelle's cat) once. Details to be hammered out shortly.

No, you all are working in groups... or so I thought. It depends on what the rest of your group is working on, Ozzy baby... that will inform your decision on what the code says.
Does that sound right?

| Kitty Momma Rachel's Brain Twin Yep. I have to know what the kiddos are expected to do/overcome etc. so I/we can make a coded riddle of sorts that will be a kind of "warning" or "map/instructive" type thing, or whatever anyone thinks it should be about... I'm open to suggestions and ideas. ![XD](https://www.snitchseeker.com/images/smilies/XD.jpg)

OK, I have not talked to the people whose subjects would be involved but I thought I'd throw the idea out there anyways.
Task - Find a particular item (Maybe one to be used in another task) and return to your starting point.
Start in the dungeon, locate a key hidden in the corridor (Maybe like the riddle term. A few pictures posted and if you click the correct on you get a message like "You have found your key, proceed to the next step") and find which door it opens (ditto) Enter room and see parchment lying on a table. Parchment has intructions (written in Arithmacy code thingy, if you want to include Oz's thing in this task) to the fruit grove and locate a tree with buckets of some sort of food (animal food) in them. Once at the tree, Champions must figure out which to feed the bowtruckle living in the tree so they can get the key and map hidden in the branches (woodlice would be the correct food). Once the bowtruckle is distracted, climb into the tree and grab the map and key. Follow the map to the fourth floor corridor (or any one it doesnt matter) and enter the indicated room, like the 10 door on the right or something like that. Once in the room, use the key to open the closet and battle the boggart inside. Once champions have defeated the boggart, they retrieve there item from inside the closet and return to the dungeon.
I dont know if that made any sence, I came up with it at like 2 AM. To make it less confusing I'll type it out 'step wise' or how ever you want to say it. lol.
-Dungeon- - Figure out which door it unlocks
- Find the instructions (written in Arithmancy)
-Fruit Grove- - Find which tree has the food buckets underneath it
- Figure out which food to feed the bowtruckle
- Go to the fourth floor corridor
-Fourth Floor- - Enter tenth door on the right
- Use the key to unlock the closet

First Year | GWFC/BWFC My <3 Is it too late for me to join in? (i'm typically half way through reading this thread ) however, i've just read Rachels post, and i like the idea. Ophelia (me) would be more than happy to help as much as possible, because i loved the plot last time. If you need any ideas, just shout, and i'll see what i can come up with, now...must get back to reading the rest of the thread.

Nope, not too late, Imi. We have three tasks for this tournament...
1.) Led by Ozzy (I think?)... who's helping you again, ducks?
2.) Led by Touzalah and myself... this is a logic-based task involving riddles.
3.) Led by Von, helped by Andrew and Lee... a maze, or something with the Forest.
I'm sure the first task could take more helpers for sure. I forget who all was helping on that one.

| Kitty Momma Rachel's Brain Twin Great minds think alike, Rach, love. I’ve been thinking about something very similar to what you’ve written about the dungeons, keys, doors and the Arithmancy code thingy. *Shnuggles* But what I was thinking is just slightly different. Instead of them finding a skeleton (aka master) key for all of the doors in the dungeons in the beginning, I think it would be cool if they had to find separate keys to the doors. But not just any keys, keys with a reduced vibration on them.
So let’s say each of the doors to each chamber in the dungeons had a line of numbers on them. What the kiddos would have to do is reduce those numbers to get its vibration, and from there find the appropriate key with the same vibration. But the catch would be that each of these keys would be in a chest full of other keys, some with numbers and some without numbers.
So simplistically I think the first part of the first challenge could go something like this: 1. Kiddos find Arithmancy coded parchment in the vicinity of their starting chamber. (We could also include a map of the dungeons as well.) 2. Kiddos crack the code of the Arithmancy encrypted parchment using the number system and get their “instructions” or “hints”. 3. Kiddos notice that all the doors are coded in numerical vibrations and reduce the numbers of the door(s) to get their true numerical vibration. 4. Kiddos notice a chest and open the chest and discover it’s full of various keys. 5. Kids use the “code” from the door(s) to figure out which keys will be needed and use them on the door(s). 6. Kiddos decide which of the doors they will go through first. (Not decided on how many their might be in the chamber(s) yet.) 7. Process is repeated a few times in various odd chambers until they get where they need to be for the next obstacle(s).
(I think the best way for both them and us to keep tabs on what chambers and stuff they're in would be to make a sort of blueprint of the “arena”... I can do that using Paint.NET or photoshop if everyone likes the idea.)
Not exactly written in stone or anything and it's far from really fleshed out, but does that sound alright or too difficult?
I think we could also use a bit of creatures down there to distract them too. Perhaps some Hinkypunks and Pixies? Quote:

It sounds... really confusing to me, but that's what Ty always says when I try to explain my ideas to her *pokes ![:)](https://www.snitchseeker.com/images/smilies/smile1.gif) *. So... why don't you start writing up the posts/tasks as they'll appear in the moderated thread? Then you can see how it will go, we can see if it makes sense to us as people who don't live in that organized brain of yours, and we can be sure it will be done in time.
Same deal for the maze/forest task.
As for my task with the Ty... we're still in the midst of planning it, but it looks like it's going to be a series of riddles. We'll give them the first riddle, and they have to figure out what location it is pointing them to. They RP themselves searching in that location, and if they're right... they get the next riddle. If they aren't right, they'll get a response like "You find nothing," telling them to keep searching.
I think we're thinking this task might work as a team task, but I'm not totally sure. Riddles we have tentatively so far (all Hogwarts locations):
"Come up and up in darkest night,
Find here glass eyes with distant sight."
"Dank or dark, I cannot say
But troublemakers come here to stay."
"Here the Keeper's keys do keep
And also Keeper kept for sleep."
I do so love tasks that let me write bizarre riddles... if only it were a talent that made money.

Righto, I'll do my best to completely figure out the first and last parts to the Arithmancy thing, but I SERIOUSLY need to scavenge the net for number meanings and stuff of the like to put in the "textbook" thread... I wanted to use info from a book I have, but its copyrighted and yeah lmao. *Cough* Totally need to get that done sharpish. Yesssss. Quote:

Did you want to do Ancient Runes stuff with the Arithmancy stuff in the dungeons or have another challenge spot somewheres? *Hug* Woooo! So okay, I made the maps for the first and last part of the Arithmancy challenge: ![](http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f177/SS_Ozzy/Arithmancychallengemap1.jpg) ![](http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f177/SS_Ozzy/Arithmancychallengemap2.jpg) ![](http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f177/SS_Ozzy/ArithmancyMapLegend.jpg) (I would have linked those but links to pictures in photobucket aren't working currently. *facepalm*) I know they probably don’t make a bunch of sense now, but for each chamber I’ll do a bit of commentary on it so that it will hopefully make sense haha. The reason there's two maps by the way is because I think we're doing some of the Arithmancy stuff in there before the other challenge(s) and then some more after the other challenges so that they can get back to their starting point... right, Rach love? And the maps will be strictly for OOC use for accuracy's sake XD.

let them RP moving through the trees/bushes/whatever we decide they are
I'd like to have 4 of us (One for each house), and then we could post what *that* section of the maze looks like
ie: Long down the dark and shadowy path a breeze blows and a raven caws over head, at the end of this line, there's two ways to go: Left or Right
Then they'd pick and RP a little, we jump in and interupt, with either a creature or what *that* path looks like. We'd have one helper with each house to do both narration and creature. A creature isn't needed at every turn or twist, simply a random, common bump or noise is fine as well.
And I believe Ern said we'd have 'em separated by house, or as a thread in the CRs to help control copy cats.
Also, we're 3rd for the tasks
And, as a double check:
Lee and myself are doing it, Andrew, Imi, were you two helping as well?
