He smiled as she grew red. It still wasn't something he was quite used to. "It was, but it does sound familiar. "It is too bad I busied myself so much while in Hogwarts. Perhaps I would have gotten to know those in other houses much easier if I'd taken notice to someone like you." He almost felt like mentioning she might recognize him as the 'girl' across the herbology bench from her, but decided it was more likely to hurt his cause.

She laughed at his ridiculous statement, "Trust me, Professor Erikson, noticing someone like me would have been the end of your social life in Hogwarts. I was -and still am- the half-breed mud-" she bit off at the end of that sentence, the nickname had come so easily but no way was she going to utter that word in the presence of her colleagues.
Smiling softly, she altered the direction the conversation was going, "But it was really not too bad for you to have busied yourself in school, as now you've been given a position to teach here. Now...if you had been one of those boys chasing skirts around the castle, do you think you would have gotten this far?" | |

Natasha blushed a deep crimson and glanced back to her now empty plate as he walked away. Had he really given her an open invitation? What would she do with it? Would she actually manage to muster whatever courage she might have hidden deep inside and take him up on the offer?
Turning back to the now nearly empty great hall, she smiled at various students and stood up herself. "Well, goodnight everyone...I believe I shall retire now, and see you all tomorrow." she said, with a small wave to her colleagues.
Her walk out went off without a hitch. Well, except for the slight stumble near the doors. | |
