Professor Light powerwalked into the room, checking her Muggle watch as she went...
Alright... 5:35... that's not too late... I'll just explain to the students that it took me awhile to find pictures and...
Professor Light stopped her train of thought as she looked at her classroom door. There was no one there yet.
Erm... right. Well, that worked out well then.
Professor Light balanced the pictures she was carrying on one arm and unlocked the door with her other hand, the one that was bearing her wand. Just as she pushed it open, she could hear the first students arriving in the hallway, and proceeding down the hall.

Chloe ran into the Muggle Studies classroom and literally jumped into a seat towards the front of the room. She beamed up at the professor. "Julia said that the front was the best for your classes and she was right. Last class was brilliant up here. I loved it. Let's be best friends, okay?" She breathed heavily after saying her last word, since hadn't taken a breath since she first began speaking.

Hermy slumped into the Muggle Studies classroom, yawning loudly. She had to admit that she was feeling in a 'slightly grumpy starting to get stressed' mood and was hoping that one of her favourite class would help lighten her mood. She attempted a half smile at Professor Light, and proceeded to sit at a place behind a fellow Ravenclaw that she recognised as the Quidditch Captain and looked similar to someone she had paired up with in the same class last year. Pulling out her books, she layed over the desk, head on side, as if she was about to sleep.

Professor Light smiled at the few students who were in class today. She laughed when Julia's... sibling? friend? ran into the class, excitiedly.
"Haha, very nice to meet you. I have to agree that the front row is a great place to be during any lesson, but mine especially."
Professor Light looked around the room. She had a feeling more students would join them as the lesson progressed. "Today's lesson is very easy, and a quite a lot of fun in my opinion. It will be a very relaxed quick lesson, and it will be mostly discussion based so you really don't need to take notes today unless you'd like to."

Hermy glanced up as the Professor spoke, relieved when she mentioned it would most likely be a fun easy lesson. A flicker of a smile shot across her face, and she started to sit up, almost trying to shake off the sleepy grumpiness inside her. Debating as to whether or not she should take notes, Hermy reached for her pencil and notepad just in case there was something particularly important.

Chloe watched the expression on Light's face. There was humor yet a little confusion. "I'm her sister, in case you couldn't guess. Chloe Agoobwah. And I'll choose to take notes," she told the woman, beaming as she removed her notebook and pencil from her school bag.
"You know, professor, we could just start right now. Ravenclaw needs the points and the two of us," she glanced back at the Ravenclaw behind her, "can toterly earn them. You should just close the door now and keep Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors out. If they come in, take points off. Slytherins can come in, though, because they need some help in the point area." Chloe snickered quietly and gazed at the door. Hey, she thought it was a fantastic idea. "It would be a fun class if you just had two students, don't you think?"

"Well, I used to be a Ravenclaw student myself, and as much fun as I would have having a lesson of only two people, I don't think I'll purposely try to keep others out. But we will start, and chances are since you are the only ones here you will probably earn most of the points anyway... for instance..."
Professor Light smiled at Hermy as well, who looked really out of it. An easy question should cheer her up some. "Who can give me a basic "definition" of an artist? There is no right or wrong answer, of course."
"Oh, and say hi to Julia for me, ok Chloe?"

Artists? That definitely woke Hermy up. Now this was a topic which would be interesting, given her favourite past time. She raised her hand, beaming. "An artist is a creator of erm," she searched for the right term, "media I guess. Its an occupation that creates pieces of work that can be displayed to make people feel happy,or other emotions I guess. It can be of several different sorts. Most people think of artists as just painters, but they can do other things as well."

Bucky placed her elbow on the desk, and propped her chin on the hand of that very same arm. She gazed off into the distance and tuned out the Professor and Chloe. It wasn't that she disliked them....
A pillow with an angry looking face was on the desk and Celestina kept smacking it softly with rhythm with her free hand.
"A photographer can also qualify as an artist. An artist is someone who can take an ordinary thing, like a pencil even," she said in a bored tone thinking back to the muggle writing utensil. "And turn it into art."

Whende hurried across the room into class with a bright yellow feather boa draped over her shoulders. She glanced around the room for someone familiar, or at least an empty seat. She ended up finding both.

Celestina's glazed eyes made contact with Whende's somewhat golden ones and scoffed, a small smile hanging from her lips.
"Punishing it," she muttered, keeping the rhythmic small slap going. "You're a little late by the way," added the girl and sighed, hoping that Professor Light didn't deduct any points. It wasn't like Gryffindor was in first place anyways.

"For a second let's focus on Muggle painters and wizard painters, to get an idea of the difference between the two. Most wizard paintings, in general, are very focused. Most of them most around, and once specific point is made about the painting. For instance, if I post a picture of two wizards dueling, you'll immediately concentrate on that fact. It's easy to tell what the painting is about. Very little, and I'm not saying none is, but very little wizarding artwork is abstract."
Professor Light paused for a second, just in case some students were taking notes on this.
"Hmm, hold up... while I find an example in my mess of paintings over there, who wants to try and give me a definition of abstract?"

Like if you were to scribble on some paper with different colored ink without trying to make a picture... wouldn't that be abstract? Or someone drawing a cross between a camel, giraffe, and a moose? Or am I totally off?" She shook her head at herself. Why did she raise her hand? She didn't even know.

"Alright, that was a really good definition Bucky, 5 points. And nice add on Chloe, how about 5 more points? Abstract things are things that don't really exist... except maybe in your mind."
"Muggle artwork tends to be more abstract than Wizard work. For instance:
Professor Light moved to the corner of the classroom and pulled out a replica of a large Muggle painting.
"... pretend you are a wizard who already has a low opinion of Muggles. And you saw a Muggle artist painting something like this... what would you be thinking then?"

This was so up Hermy's street. She raised her hand. "Abstractism is related to the concept of the art, rather than necessarily just the concept of what is being depicted. There are many type, some just showing use of colours to evoke emotion, and some in experimentation. The important thing is the thinking and skill behind them, they are not there to be photographic."

"Dude! That's so freakishly weird." When had already seen a whole lot of abstract art. She loved the stuff to death. But that was just... over the top. "Who the heck did that?"
Maybe, just maybe, she shouldn't have said that out loud. "Er... I... I would think... What a bunch of weirdos!" And she didn't mind saying it either. At the moment, her opinion of muggles wasn't all that good. Ok... so maybe it was just her parents.
