Kerry walked into the lesson, dragon hide gloves in hand and shuddered when she heard the Professor say he wouldn't be held responsible for any accidents in class. "What are we in for?" Kerry dreaded as she took her seat.

Cora wandered into the classroom, feeling miserable and low. Tag and Bucky......

She shook her head angrily and smiled weakly at Professor Erikson. "Hello Professor!" She said, in the happiest voice she could master before sitting down.

Ariana walked in looking downright depressed. She had had an exsausting night of crying in her bed, thinking about her ability. Profesor Blaylock had helped her immensly, but after the class that went wrong she was back to being depressed and miserable.

She stopped at the table, pulling on her gloves and said, "Hello professor." but gave him a smile to let him know that she wouldn't do anything to show she was upset. Pulling away her emotions she sat and waited for class to being.

Kennedy entered the classroom and stood by a table in the middle of the room. She removed her dragonhide gloves from her tote bag, placed the tote bag on the floor rested up against the table leg, and quickly put her gloves on. She glanced around the room and spotted several saplings. She was curious about what this lesson would entail and stood quietly awaiting the start of the lesson.

suzy walked in and sat next to kerry. She had her drgonhide gloves in hand. She was very nervous. "hello professor!"

"kerry, are you nervous?" she whispered

Kerry looked over at Suzy, and put her fingers up to her lips to signal for her to stay quiet..after losing points in another class for talking, Kerry wasn't going to do it again. She did however give a bit of a shrug and nod her head. Hearing about accidents at the beginning of the class is not something she was hoping to hear, and she had to admit it did make her nervous.

Christian entered the class. He had left his kitten back in the dorm, Christian figured it would be safer there than in the class. He spotted Cora nearby, she looked pretty miserable. He didn't know whether to sit by her or not. He didn't flow well with girls pouring out their problems. He nodded to the professor,
"Hello," he said basically and took a seat next to Cora. He nodded his head to her and smiled nicely.

Shakila bounce into the room looking around for the perfect place to sit. Her pockets that was usually filled with joke items was surprising full at the moment. She spotted Kerry and walked over to her. "Hey, Kerry." she said loudly.

Jasmine barreled into the class room out of breath. Cheeks slightly pink she stopped and slowly walked to the seat furthest back from thee front of the room.

Kerry smiled at Jasmine and then shook her head at Shakila...she couldn't believe she had a pocket full of pranks again...will she ever learn?" Kerry thought to herself. She could just see Shakila setting something off and causing the accident Professor Erikson had mentioned about.

Erikson watched as the students trickled into the class, taking their places. It worried him slightly that a few of them had given him forced smiles. It seemed like every time someone was in a bad mood, something went awry. Well, he just had to hope that nothing happened in this class.

Suzy smiled and understood what kerry meant. Staying quiet in class is a great idea. good way not to lose points.

Shakila grinned when Kerry shook her head before taking a seat in front of her. She pulled out her dragon hide gloves ready to begin the lesson. Well, she was more ready to see what she can stir up during the class.

"Alright dear ones, let's start."

He leaned on the table in front of him. "A little announcement, first. For those who attended the advanced herbology class, i found out what that genetic purity did." He lifted up a pot with an Amore that was just beginning to bloom, the petals starting to peek. Other than the golden petals, it looked remarkably like the silver Amore Fraterno. "It was a small chance, but it happened. Flowers of pure gold." He smirked. "I thought some of you would want to know." With that, he stuck the plant back behind him.

"So, today's lesson is about grafting. Can anyone tell me what grafting is, in terms of herbology?"

Jasmine glanced around at all the saplings and raised her hand,"Grafting is the joining together of two plant parts in a manner that causes them to unite and grow into a new single plant that combines the best of the two? And by looking at these saplings I'm guessing grafting is going to be the method that we will use to combine the strengths of two varieties of trees into one preferred sapling."

Oooh, petals of real gold, Kerry was amazed. It looked sort of fake as it glistened under the light, but she knew how hard Professor Erikson had worked to master that. Almost lost in her thoughts, Kerry forgot a question had been asked.

She raised her hand, "grafting is when one tissue of a plant is fused together with tissues from another pant. In most cases, of grafting one plant is chosen for the use of its roots, which is called stock or rootstock, and the other plant is slected for its stems, leaves, flowers or fruits, and that's called the scion." Kerry said remembering this from her readings.

Arinana raised her hand, "Grafting is a method of plant propagation which is widely used in horticulture, where the tissues of one plant are encouraged to fuse with those of another. It is most commonly used for the propagation of trees and shrubs grown commercially." she explained, hoping it was right.

"Very good. Two points to each of you." He held his hands over the two plants in front of him. Holding his hand over the taller sapling, he started, "This, today, is going to be our stock." He held his hand over the smaller one on the table. "And this is our scion. Two different types of cherry trees, actually."

"Now, other than for strength, what are other reasons for grafting?"

Raising her hand again, Jasmine said,"Grafting can be used to alter a plant's size of growth, make it more resistant to certain diseases,insects, and the like,enhance a plant's ability to thrive in a variety iof enviroments and increase it's bility to pollinate\cross-pollinate. Basically it almost sounds like you are making a super-plant."

Suzy sits back and writes down everything everyone says. she doesnt know to much about grafting so she taking it all in.

Sitting back in her chair Shakila listen as her fellow classmates answer the question. The class had just started and already she was getting bored which wasn't a good thing. Shakila sighed. Maybe Herbology was for her.

Kerry raised her hand again, pleased with herself, "Well I believe some reasons for grafting include increasing the productivity of certain crops, as well as grafting can help develop new varieties of plants, and it optimizes pollination and cross pollination." Kerry said

Ariana riased her hadn again, "There are many reasons. One is to provide pollenizers. Or it may be to provide an easy means of the scion to propagate vegetatively by other means, such as by cuttings. Or it could be to change the cultivar in a fruit orchard to a more profitable cultivar, called topworking." she replied, writing this all down not missing a word.
