| | DADA Lesson 2: Creature Feature Rae sat in the classroom for a long while before class finally started. The weather was bitterly cold, and she cast the same high fires in the classroom fireplaces as she had in the nursery. She tucked her hands into fur-lined pockets before returning to her seat to take up a cup of hot hot hot cocoa. She was cold, but it was more psychological than physical. She missed Doyle, and seeing others so happy made it all the worse. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Chris Isaac Jason | SS Blue Indian "Well there is the situation where we face the boggart in - it depends. Since they like to dwell in closets, cupboards and stuff like that, one could most probably encounter them in a household or a place you're familiar with - perhaps familiar enough to be opening cupboards and all.
As for the opponent, well we all know that boggarts transform into what you would fear the most. In as much as it could turn into something that would not be feared too greatly, there are odds that the latter might just happen in which case we need to be prepared. In other words - they'll just try to pysche you out.
In this case, your abilities would include being able to visualize your fear in a manner that would amuse you. Play on your strengths - concentrate on what would really make something that you fear deeply have you laugh out until your stomach hurts and then use the "Riddikulus" spell.
In this case your wand is the single greatest resource - boggarts are shape-shifters and since no one knows what is their original form, one can only assume that they might be just vapour - in which case, physical force won't work on them."
Esh takes a breath. Then looks inquiringly at the professor.
"This brings a doubt into my mind professor. I might be mistaken in what I had just said, but does a boggart take the shape of what you fear the most, or does it just randomly take the shape of something you fear?"

"Generally, the boggart will take the shape of what you fear the most at that time. For instance, your fears will change based on circumstance, or you might find that over time you overcome a fear. The boggarts of children are typically fairly simple, and I expect most of you would see an animal or a Dark creature, or something that is scary and yet not likely to be a major factor in your lives. As you get older, the boggart will change to take on more abstract fears... phobias and fearing failure or death of yourself or a loved one. When I was a girl, I was mortally afraid of vampires... even though I'd never seen one or met one. Too much Muggle television. When I got married and then lost my first husband, my fears centered on losing loved ones. Now they involve Professor Branxton and the girls... and I'm not too proud to admit that one of these days my biggest fear is going to be having twin teenagers in the castle."
"I fear I've let this class go on long enough, and I regret not getting to practice any actual spells. Let me encourage all of you to try out some simple hinderance spells and shielding spells in the Duelling Arena, and come to me with any practical questions."
"I do have a homework assignment. It's due April 18th, midnight EST. Please choose up to three creatures, Dark or dangerous, and take us through how you would approach them using the SOAR method. Refer to last lesson's notes to recall SOAR if you are struggling to remember. It's worth 20 house points, and I expect thoughtful information from you all."

Molly wrote down the assignment and packed up her things. She wanted to get to work so she would be able to practice some spells in the dueling area. “Thank you for the class, professor” she said with a smile as she headed out the door.

| The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas. Ariana wrote this information down, gulping slightly as she did so. Picking up her notes and stowing them safely into her bag, she stood nodded to the professor and left to study.
