Ariaa shuffled her papers quickly, but not quick enough it seemed as three people asid the exact same thing she was going to. Shrugging it off, she waited for the next question. Hopefully she could get some points today..

"Exactly, Kerry. That will be five for Gryffindor." The acronym appeared on the board. "Today, we're going to move from Dark Objects to creatures. We'll actually talk for a little bit about regular creatures, as well as Dark creatures, so let's take a moment to make sure we're all on the same page."

"Can anyone tell me how the Ministry of Magic rates creatures regarding how dangerous they are?"

shortfry 04-11-2007 12:03 AM

Kerry smiled at getting points for Gryffindor, and then raised her hand again "The ministry of magic rates creatures by how dangerous the creature is to wizardkind, human kind and some creatures earn their rating for other reasons, such as difficulty in capturing or training them." Kerry said, not sure if that was the complete way the designated ratings but knowing it was close.

Glad SS is back up and running again! :D

Torie raised her hand. "Umm, they use Xs? The more Xs a creature has, the more dangerous it is."

Half-Blood_Cass 04-11-2007 12:04 AM

Cassadnra slowly raised her hand, "Don't they use a type of scale? 1 being harmless and 5 being deadly? 1: Boring
2: Harmless / may be domesticated
3: Competent wizards should cope
4: Dangerous / requires specialist knowledge / skilled wizard may handle
5: Known wizard killer / impossible to train or domesticate
" She leaned back in her chair, hoping for it to be right.

AuroraRissa 04-11-2007 12:05 AM

Aurora raised her hand and said,"Professor, in the text book, they are marked with a number of X's to determine how dangerous the creature is to wizardkind, although some creatures earn their rating for other reasons, such as difficulty in capturing or training them."
She hope that was right. She really wasnt sure

marfamarfa 04-11-2007 12:05 AM

(Uh, shoot me because I didn't read properly and I don't know how to delete my own posts.)

lemondrop13 04-11-2007 12:10 AM

"The ministry of magic rates creatures using a scale of one X through five Xs (X-XXXXX) They serve as an at-a-glance guide to perceived dangerousness of a creature. X = Boring, XX = Hamrless/may be domesticated, XXX = Competent wizard should cope, XXXX = Dangerous/requires specialist, and XXXXX = Known wizard killer/impossible to train or domesticate" Kennedy answered completely.

Cassirin 04-11-2007 12:21 AM

"Excellent... I got a variety of answers that help fill in all the blanks. The rating system the Ministry uses starts at X and goes to XXXXX, using the numbering system Cassandra quoted. That will be five for Ravenclaw and five for Torie for mentioning the X's. And Kerry is right... the scale is based on how dangerous or difficult to capture a creature is. I'll give her three points to Gryffindor."

"Let's play a quick little game. I'll list an animal, and you can tell me the rating. How about... a crup?"

lemondrop13 04-11-2007 12:21 AM

"Three X's" Kennedy answered

shortfry 04-11-2007 12:24 AM

Kerry raised her hand, that's a 3, which means competent wizards should be able to cope with it

Cassirin 04-11-2007 12:33 AM

"Good, Kennedy. Five for Ravenclaw. How about a pogrebin?"

Granger1814 04-11-2007 12:34 AM

Having stayed quiet up until now, Eric was glad that he knew a few of the questions that had been asked. At the next question, his hand shot up. “XXX."

lemondrop13 04-11-2007 12:34 AM

"Also, three X's" Kennedy answered

Golden Monkey 04-11-2007 12:34 AM

Ariana raised her hand "Three x's? "she guessed.

shortfry 04-11-2007 12:35 AM

Kerry raised her hand " a Pogrebin is also 3"

Cassirin 04-11-2007 12:47 AM

"Excellent... and that one was tricky. A pogrebin is a dark creature, but it isn't deemed that dangerous. I think they're seriously underestimating, but I'm not an Auror anymore and I don't have a say. That'll be five for Gryffindor. Nice work, Eric. What about a fwooper?"

lemondrop13 04-11-2007 12:47 AM

"This creature is categorized with 3 X's" Kennedy replied.

shortfry 04-11-2007 12:48 AM

Kerry raised her hand, "another 3 professor"

Golden Monkey 04-11-2007 12:48 AM

"Also has 3 X's" Ariana said. She wrote everything down.

marfamarfa 04-11-2007 12:48 AM

Torie raised her hand. "That's also a three, professor."

AuroraRissa 04-11-2007 12:48 AM

" that would be a 3 as well professor" aurora said

Cassirin 04-11-2007 01:02 AM

"Good work, Kennedy. That's another five for Ravenclaw, and we'll go ahead and move on. Let's come to one other level of understanding. A dragon is probably one of the most dangerous creatures you can encounter. They're cany and dangerous. Is a dragon a Dark Creature?"

lemondrop13 04-11-2007 01:03 AM

"No a dragon is not a dark creature. Dark creatures must have the intent to do harm for the sake of harm. A dragon is dangerous but not dark because they act out of self-preservation." kennedy answered

wingardium leviosa 04-11-2007 01:04 AM

"NO i dont believe they are." Amber replied
