Kemma rolled her eyes at Tag's response. Only Tag could turn a transfiguration lesson into something about loving insects.

"Well, I don't think whether or not you like catepillars is really the point," Kemma said wrinkling her nose at Tag with disapproval. Kemma turned to Professor Pride. "I mean, isn't the point of transfiguration to make use of whatever you have available?"

Lua was excited for the first class of term, being high on sugar she rocketed of her seat and raised her hand then answered "When your in the woods and only surrounded by animals. This spell can come in handy to help you have a goblet to drink from instead of using your hands. In which case be very very dirty"

Danni laughed, "True, that spell is deffinetly useful when your thirsty, though if you havent mastered it I recomend using your hands instead of a furry goblet. 2 points to Slytherin"
Danni's raised her eyebrow, "You may want to see Professor Blaylock after class, your minds seem to be connected." she said with a giggle. "Though that particular idea has already been mentioned, a point to each of you for 'syncronized thinking'."
Restraining herself from giving more points than the others, Danni's smile turned slightly michivous, "Pranking is a wonderful way to use transfiguration. 2 points."
Clapping her hands together Danni exclaimed, "Yes! Its always good to think of things from a defensive point of view. 2 points."
"Caterpillars would help more if you were out of nutrition. Bugs are an excellent source of protein." Danni said eyeing the class for thier reaction.

"Ok one more question before we begin, What types of animals would be the easiest to transfigure into an object, not nessisarily a goblet. Give me an animal, an object and why you think it would be easier than another animal."

Randver rased his hand and said'' i think a beetle would be the best for trans forming into sissors becaus the rhinosorus beetle has a sharp horn and if you just make two of them you got a pair of living sissors''

Neva Smirked. "Animal - Crocodile. Object - Handbag. Why Croc? Because if anybody tries to steal your purse it can just bite them in the butt"

"probably an invertbrea, Bugs, Smaller Creatures. The bigger the animal the harder it would probably be. Like if i tried to transfigure a dragon, itd take alot more than one lesson for me to do so" lisa said quickly and smiled for gaining her house a point. not much, but its something

"A snake into a rope" Erinelle answered, "The snake is already rope shaped, so if you're not to good at transfiguration it's not as hard as turning a cow into a rope, you already have about a third of the spell done for you. You just need to make sure the rope doesn't hiss at you."

Rat to a cup becasue it is a small animal to trasfigure especially if you are a beginner. said mich raising her hand

Lua thought for a bit before raising her hand a gain "I would say a beetle and transfigure it into a button. The smaller the animal the better the spell can be preformed. In contrary, the bigger the animal the more strength and magic you need to be able to transfigure it completely".

Chikie raised her hand "Smaller animals that are less like to run while you are casting the spell, such as a snail which would make a lovely pin cushion. If the animal is very large it will take quite a bit of magic to fully transfigure, and a fast animal could easily escape before you have even begun. An elephant would be an example of a large animal and a cheetha(sp) would be an example of a very fast animal. While it is possible, it would be very difficult for us students to transfigure. Although larger animals are better to transfigure into large objects. An elphant would make an excellent sailboat for example and a cheetha would make a great racecar." chikie said with as slight smile, one point wasn't much but it was something

Tas thought for a moment then raised her arm again. "The first thing that comes to my mind is a snake turned into a broomstick", she giggled. "Maybe it's all the affection of Professor Vindictus's class, but that's what was first on my mind."

Dez raised her hand again "A caterpiller into a pencil like you said because they are close in size and easy to catch" Dez said wondering if it was right

Mason raised his hand and said " I think a snake would be good to turn into a long object like a pencil or a wooden or mettle pole of some kind for defensive purposes. The snake is already long and can be held completely strait and it also doesn't have complicating protrusions like arms and legs".

Kemma sat, thinking hard about Professor Pride's question. Since she didn't know how things transfigured, she was having a hard time imaging what would be easier.

"What about turning a bird into a hat?" Kemma thought of her mother's garden parties with all the ladies dressed in their Sunday best. "Since lots of hats already have feathers, you'd only be partially transforming the bird. And they're about the same size."

Marie would have like to answered but everyone was so fast that she decided to wrote down all the answer that everyone gave. She thought maybe later, if she's fast enought she would gave one.

Kat thought hard about the question. Coming up with an answer she replied,"A firefly into a candle because the blinkin of the firefly's Phospholuminescence resembles the flickering of the light of a candle."

"Good, but 'living scissors' would mean the spell didnt work correctly. And a pair of moving scissors sounds dangerous." she laughed.

"Again in your example the spell didnt work, but I wouldnt mind having a self-defending purse." Danni said with a wink

"YES!" Danni said loudly, "Exactly the answer I was looking for. Invertebre's are easier to transfigure because there is no backbone to change. 3 points."

Stopping in front of the girls desk she looked at her with a michivous gleam in her eye, "You have a good memory mate. 3 points."

Going back to the front of the class she added, "I chose caterpillars because they are invertebre, small and similar in shape to the object we want. Now everyone come up and take a caterpillar. The spell is Animaic Inanimus, try it a few times. To change your caterpillar back from a pencil the spell is Inanimus Finite. Try it a few times."

Jacques walked to the front of the classroom. Selecting two of the biggest caterpillars from the box the professor had provided, he walked back to his seat. He stopped alongside Julia's seat and placed a caterpillar on her desk.

"I got you a caterpillar" Jacques said, stating the obvious. He smiled and sat back down in his chair, putting his own caterpillar out in front of him.

Still horrified at Professor Pride's comment about caterpillars providing nutrients, Tag swallowed and attempted to respond. "Er, Professor--" Sadistic! "Invertebrate animals, such as insects, would be easier to transfigure because they are less complicated. Animals with backbones, like mammals, are usually harder to manipulate with spells." Tag doodled on his parchment, scrawling out the words, 'Insects are friends, not food' in large loopy letters.

Lisa Walked to front practically dancing.She won them 3 points. She picked a caterpillar and returned to her seat.She Pulled put her wand and moved her notes aside, she would be pretty upset if the spell went astray and ruined her notes.She then muttered "Inanimus Finite" and waved her wand over the small caterpillar. It made an awkward movement at first but nothing changed.She tried 2 more times and she thought it looked longer and more yellow. By her 4th attempt though Lisa had a brand new muggle pencil sitting on the table in front of her. She looked up and smiled at the professor.

Dez got up and went to get a caterpiller out of the pile "thanks" she said to Proffessor Pride on her way back

Randver came up and took a catarpillar and took it back to his desk and said the spell''Animaic Inanimus it did't work in the first try but it did in the second then he said the spell''Inanimus Finite''the cattarpillar tunrned back
and Randver repeted this a few times

Chikie walked up and grabed herself a caterpiller then headed back to her seat. Chikie placed her caterpiller on the desk. She pulled out her lovely wand and said "Animaic Inanimus". She watched as her caterpiller transformed into a ordinay muggle pencil. She picked it up and examined it to make sure it was a complete transfiguration and it was. She then put it back on the table and transformed it back into it's caterpiller form. "Inanimus Finite"

Tas walked up to where all the caterpillars were and took one. Returning to her seat she held the creature on her palm and pointed at it with her wand. Animaic Inanimus, she muttered trying to imagine how the pencil would look, but the spell, as usual, didn't work at the first attempt and the hairy pencil on her palm was wiggling. She frowned and muttered the spell again - this time there was a full effect and a nice pencil was now lying still on her hand.

Maya sighed and shrunk into her seat. Jeeze. She walked up and took a caterpillar. She let it creep over her shoulders and put it back down on the table. She poked it with her wand and murmered ' Animaic Inanimus. ' and quite strangely enough, the caterpillar changed into a green pencil. She poked it, hoping that it wouldn't squirm.
